recent events in watchtower-land (part of fantasy-land?
) bring into sharp focus.
the two possible futures that the organization can take:.

i have a couple of questions that no one has been able to answer, as apparently, no one else at the hall has thought of it.
my question is regarding the command that jehovah gave adam regarding eating from the tree.
genesis 2:16 says "and jehovah god also laid this command upon the man: "from every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction.
It gets even more interesting when you realize that Satan wasn't even there. Genesis is one of the many books of the OT where Satan receives not even 1 dishonorable mention!
Notice the curse upon the serpent 'to go upon your belly and eat dust'. Yes, God cursed the serpent. He did not curse the Devil and tell him to put down the <@#%&$*!> snake puppet.
The more you read the bible, the more you realize it is just a collection of myths that get more advanced from start to finish. It's an evolution of conciousness.

does anyone have a list of scriptures to prove that christians should not be forced to go by the rigid pharisaical "2-eye-witness rule"?.
i have some:.
matthew 18:6. romans chapter 13. leviticus 5:1. leviticus chapter 20. matthew chapter 15. matthew chapter 23. and does anyone have a list of scriptures that show that christians are not supposed to be under the old testament law covenant?.
Have you seen the video of the reporter confronting Jaracz about that? He says sternly "we are not to go above what is written". Beyond, perhaps... but not above.
He is full of it.
Didn't Jesus go beyond the things written? Aren't the GB second only to Jesus? Go figure.

this will probably sound controversial to anyone who is still religiously inclined so i apologies upfront and do not mean any offence by it.
it's just my 'pondering'.. i was thinking about all the times that i heard form the platform and read in the watchtower that jesus made the greatest sacrifice ever in history by giving his life in exchange for all minkind, to die for our sins etc.. but even if this were true, would it be such a great sacrifice?.
giving one life in exchange for thousands ... millions ... billions seems to be not too big a sacrifice for the return and one that many people would make today.
Okay, I admit, it isn't logical...but it is a good way to start a religion, isn't it?
'Our leader did not die. He was simply fulfilling the Mosaic Law/Sacrificial Priestly duties/Adamic covenant/Davidic covenant! See, it all ties together!'
By the way, without Judas, this spiritual paradise we know inhabit would not have been possible. Do you ever mention your thanks to him in prayer for leading the Romans to the realJesus and not some other guy? You know, he would have got his 30 pieces of silver either way. After all, if they knew what Jesus looked like, why would they need Judas?
I think I am onto something there...oh my goodness!

it's so cool to be able to drive around again.
after spending ludicrous amounts of money on it, i finally got my little 1979 ford escort running again.
of course, it can't go faster than 60 kilometers/hour without wobbling and losing paint, but then, the car is older than i am!!!.
you are outta control SYN!

ajwrb was approached early on about working together on these issues.
we took a hard look and opted out for ethical and pragmatic reasons.
though the issues share a common thread (child abuse), they have to be approached in different ways.
Hi Lee,
I have online access to many journals through my university, and I just stumbled across something interesting:
Journal of Medical Ethics
Volume 26, Issue 5, October 2000, Pages 375-380
ISSN: 0306-6800Why some Jehovah's
Witnesses accept blood and conscientiously reject official Watchtower Society blood policy
Wow! I am surprised to say the least.
A couple of years ago I was considering working with a JW who is a local hospital employee. He oversees blood management issues. You may know him, but I will inquire further in private e-mail. Things were changing even back then, and I had no clue!

how's the weekend goin'?
been too busy to think on really serious things?
that's good, because this poll doesn't require too much thinking!!
'Bible Studies' instead of 'Bible Students'...that one really irked me...just like 'Ones' rather than 'people' How can you justify calling a person a 'Bible Study'???
Sister Pioneer JW to Brother Elder JW: "I'd like you to meet Janine. Or, as I affectionately refer to her, my little tick. She is the newest mark on my field service record. Jehovah is so proud of me. Oh, I mean, you, my little tick."

on friday night i watched a report by abc tv's john stossel (in the normal 20/20 time slot) that dealt with how humans are influenced by looks.
it was a re-broadcast, and even though this was the second time i've seen it it was still fascinating.
to demonstrate whether we are influenced by appearance, several scenarios were set up, involving people considered attractive and those considered more 'plain'.
Okay, check this out! This article confirms that attractive people are statistically more healthy (slightly, when corrected for activity levels). It also gives a good explanation of why people pick attractive mates:
Randy J. Larsen, Department of Psychology, Washington University, St. Louis, MissouriThe present results are consistent with an evolutionary psychological perspective on the link between attractiveness and health. Physical attractiveness, according to this perspective, is not an arbitrary social construction, but instead may provide information about health. Gangestad and Buss (1993) investigated the mate preferences of 29 cultures and found that people living in areas with higher pathogen prevalence value a potential mates physical attractiveness more than do people living in areas with lower pathogen prevalence. Gangestad and Buss (1993) argue that, in areas with higher pathogen prevalence, physical attractiveness may provide more information about the health of a prospective mate than it does in areas with lower pathogen prevalence.

Hey Jack,
That is a good synopsis you have presented. I always like Stossel. It's so funny when he goes undercover...no one ever recognizes him. This is a guy that has been on TV a long, long time! All he has to do is wear a hat.
Yep, people certainly are influenced by looks. Qualities are projected onto people. I personally think that people can do very little to change how they are perceived, because of how intimately related to their looks.
You would expect (from statistics) that ugly people and handsome people would be equally likely to be criminals, for example. But, alas, no. Someone should do a study on that in particular...wait I am sure someone has. It's very related to the mock-jury concept.
If you are ugly, people like you less (or trust you less) therefore you like yourself and others less. It is certainly not fair.

i think most of us at some time have had the experience of overhearing a conversation while travelling, or in a coffee shop, and realizing that we are listening to a crafty jw in the middle of preaching.
you know the type of thing, "wont it be nice when god steps in and clears up all these problems", problems incidentally that they have just spent the past thirty minutes listing to their hapless listeners in morbid detail.
no-one cherishes their collection of grim news quite like a jw.
degnebbit! this is funny material!
