Dood,
they flinch when asked to act contrary to their emotions and/or feelings.
im not sure if i was married to a psycho or not and am wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience with their ex.
weve been divorced for 2-1/2 years and have had our ups and downs.
because shes a diehard jw and doesnt have grounds to get re-married i get an ear full from her blah...blah.. anyway, one minute shes like "its terrible that i have to wait for you to get married before i can" and then this past weekend she calls me to talk.
Dood,
they flinch when asked to act contrary to their emotions and/or feelings.
this will be my first post with a specific topic.
i posted here yesterday for the first time.
i wanted to start by saying how nice it was to be so warmly welcomed by those of you that took a minute to say hi.
I doubt that doubting is bad for your health.
I have enjoyed reading what you have to say, HotRod. I can recommend a great book for you to read, considering what's on your mind. It's called The Gospel According to Jesus Christ by Jose Saramago.
It's quite skeptical, yet beautiful.

well i have officially graduated from the florida college of natural health and have applied for my license to become an esthetician!!!!
i'm soo excited.
jesus said that 'two swords were enough'.
well, the answer to that question is also likely the real cause of the romans' suspicion of jesus.
people may say that jesus was executed like a common criminal.
Yeah, it's an intereting article...since the WT always drummed into our heads that Jesus' ministry was NOT A POLITICAL movement.
ok lets hear your pathetic excuses.
c'mon now don't be shy.
let's hear what you have to say.
"Disarm or we will disarm you"...
Saddam Hussein will play right into George W's hand. Why would anyone, sane or insane, disarm upon threat of war? A vow has already been made to remove the Iraqi leader from power.
But George W pretends he doesn't know what Saddam will do. He pretends his regime didn't create an imperative that would surely ensare Saddam. He pretends he has things on his mind besides warfare.
Saddam, if only you had played along with the U.S.-U.N. hegemony, trading votes for U.S. business interests like all the other two-bit dictators...
...your time has come

we fear that we are more likely to be victims of crime at night...what do the statistics say?.
well, check out this website for starters:.

Hey Heaven,
A good thing to remember is that, contrary to popular opinion, common criminals do not love darkness. Nobody does.
I have thought about that too, that someone could be hiding around the next corner at night to kill me or something crazy like that...but why would that person not fear the same thing happening to him? (or her...although the thought of a woman waiting for me in the dark is kinda sexy)

the watchtower organization states that through good works and sincere effort only 144,000 elite jws will go to heaven.
the 144,000 are mentioned in two chapters in the bible: revelation 7 & 14. by looking at the verses it is obvious that the 144,000 are literal jews of the ancient tribes with no gentiles among them (7:4-8).
they are all males (14:4) and virgins (14:4).
When I was a child, the anointing of the 144,000 was the only evidence I saw of God interacting with people of our time. It seemed so amazing that God gave these people a sure sign of his acceptance. The anointed had no doubts whatsoever that they were called.
Now it is obvious to me that all of the 'mystery' surrounding the anointing served to discourage younger people from even thinking about whether they had been anointed.
Think about how many people have claimed to be anointed over the years. Despite what the doctrine says, there is a steady flow of 'anointed' partaking of the emblems.
Anyhow, there are other threads that have made this point for me already. This one, by Ozzie, for example...

wow, today i suddenly realized just what day it was.
exactly one year ago, i decided i was no longer willing to be a witness.
january 17, 2002 was the first day i stopped praying to a god i no longer had any faith in.
I have not felt the need to attend a meeting in about two years.
But my daily dose of Viv...essential! (better than coffee)

Jesus said that 'two swords were enough'. For what?
Well, the answer to that question is also likely the real cause of the Romans' suspicion of Jesus. People may say that Jesus was executed like a common criminal. But the Romans were brutal in their treatment of Jewish resistance militia and sympathizers.
Here's a little snippet from a darned good article, but you must read more to see where this is going:
The strong influence of the prophesy of Zechariah on Jesus is shown by his mode of entrance into Jerusalem riding on an ass's colt. Such deliberate fulfillment of Zechariah ix. 9 suggests that Jesus also had the rest of Zechariah's prophesies in mind.
"The people that have fought against Jerusalem" were none other than the Romans, the heathen barbarians who had united "the nations" in a great empire and had set their faces against God. He himself, Jesus of Nazareth, was the person to whom the prophet was addressing his instructions; the Messiah who would arrive in Jerusalem on an ass's colt, and would stand in "the valley of the mountains" together with a company of "saints" to witness the appearance of the glory of God on the Mount of Olives. He would see the Romans stricken by a plague, and would lead "Judah" in fighting against them. Then, after a great victory, he would reign as King-Messiah in Jerusalem, where every year on the anniversary of his victory he would welcome representatives of every nation on earth, coming to pay homage to the Lord of Hosts in his Temple.
Oh, here's another snippet about terrorism in ancient Rome:
In the 80s BC, Hellenistic king Mithridates called on his followers to kill all Roman citizens in their midst, naming a specific day for the slaughter. They heeded the call - and killed 80,000 Romans in local communities across Greece. "The Romans were incredibly shocked by this," says ancient historian Jeremy Paterson of Newcastle University. "It's a little bit like the statements in so many of the American newspapers since September 11: 'Why are we hated so much?' "

HI Ruby,
I'm sorry to hear that you have been victimized.
One thing that irks me is that our environment is not safe for women. I am ashamed to be male when I read about sexual assaults.
In 2001, while overall violent crimes were more likely to occur during the day than at the night, some crimes exhibited different patterns.
In 2001, 57% of incidents of violent crime occurred between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Almost two-thirds of rapes/sexual assaults occurred at night -- 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
