this is my first time to post anything.. recently i read (on this site somewhere, i think) an amazing quotation from a more recent wt guy that spookily echoes the sentiment of russell, so long ago, that reading the scriptures alone--without the books by wt--resulted in people falling from the truth!.
Well, they wouldn't have said it if it weren't true.
That's all I did; I simply read the bible. (Okay I read some outside stuff too, but nothing skeptical in particular) Thought it would encourage me when I really needed it.
Turns out that it did do what I needed, however. My concious mind just didn't know what help was REALLY coming, until it all came crashing down fast. Reading the bible weaned my from my spiritual dependence.
I understand human nature better than ever before, and I am not ashamed of what I found out.

in an earlier thread reference was made to a court case in which fred franz stated that jehovah god was editor of the "watch tower".
as this quotation is often used to support the allegation that jws believe the wt is inspired of god i thought it would be of wider interest to provide the relevant court record for general consideration.. the court case itself was in 1940 and was olin moyle against fred franz and others and the wtbts.
just so that you know who is who, hayden covington was attorney for the defendants and walter bruchhausen was attorney for the plaintiff.
A question for Earnest:
To what extent do you consider Paul's letters inspired? He didn't seem to claim such inspiration. Wouldn't he have said 'God does not desire women to be teachers' (rather than 'I') ?
Just curious... to me I can see clearly that the more dear it became to its readers the more 'inspired of God' it consequently became.

with all the "food" "fluff" larc has started, it has made me wonder how many here are vegetarian or meat eaters.. i like my meat in winter, but only in very small amounts.. summertime i go completely vegetarian and relish fruits and vegetables.. how about you??.
