"Frailty" might be a good movie to watch
by Dogpatch inthis new movie has an interesting theme: religious fanaticism that goes bad and leads to a murerous cult ofb three, with mind control and all.
with the recent murders by witnesses who have become disillusioned with their faith, it might be a good watch:.
"frailty," which opens today in the new york metropolitan region, is the directorial debut of bill paxton, who stars as dad.

breeze,
check this out, regarding 'War on Terrorism' and 'War on Iraq' and written well before 9-11-01:
...the loose ends that strongly suggested Baghdad had covertly manipulated a largely inept and unimaginative group of Muslimsunited only in their hatred of Americainto conducting the most audacious terrorist attack ever attempted.

This website is devoted to the cause of American world dominance. (not sure if they are counting Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Belize, Honduras, Argentina, Chile, etc.)

When is it really over...................???
by inaweout ini am a newcomer to this site, and a curious one at that.. i have been dating a guy who was / is to some degree, a jw.
although he no longer attends meetings, and does not share jw's beliefs, he is active in other ways.
for example, he is active on this site; he spends a good deal of time referencing his past life as a jw; and, he gets very angry (but not towards me) every time he hears or thinks about the jw's.

Hey there inaweout,
Your guy friend is certainly not abnormal for someone who has left JWs...in fact, as I read your comments, I was not entirely sure that it had not been written by my girlfriend. (She is also a non-ex-JW) But then I remembered that she has been sleeping for quite some time now.
You make some keen observations. While much of what you said is inference, there is quite a lot of truth in your explanation of what you have observed. So have you asked him to express his feelings?
Just be careful to let him express these things for himself. I know from personal experience that people hate to be 'told how they feel'.
About your 'moving on' question...
I think my life will be a continuum of learning. I am no longer afraid of reshaping my view of my place in the world. If that implies that I 'never move on', so be it. In my opinion, it's a long process of 'moving on', yes.
Thanks for your comments,

The Watchtower is Pagan - Not Us!
by nonjwalltheway inthe jw's say anything that is a threat to their religion to be of pagan origin.
anything that detracts the brainwashed "little flock" away from studying their watchtower magazines is considered to be of pagan origin.
they even have something on the official watchtower website about cross country skiing and its pagan origins.

It's easy to point the finger at fanatic fire-worshipers, isn't it?
It's also easy to say that your religion is composed of 6 million non-fanatics.
The WT can even make the Hindu caste system (where it is an unholy sin to touch certain caste members if you are of a certain other caste) look ridiculous and obscure.
Oh, the irony!
(Wait, it is not really ironical, is it? Haven't we known of their hypocrisy for quite some time now?)

So the war on terrorism is driven by forces beyond the control of man.
I am not so sure about that...Mr Bush has been known to pray for Armageddon to come soon.

what about adoption?
Considering that the poor and undereducated are reproducing at far greater rates than the rich and educated, it should prove to be vital to the future of our society to consider how to balance our growth.
I see advertisements everyday offering tens of thousands of dollars for egg donors to provide a child that looks like the (infertile) parents; in addition, the parents want an athletic and intelligent child. Hence, they have very specific requirements for the young woman. Here's an example:
EAST INDIAN EGG DONOR NEEDED
$50,000 (compensation). Highly successful, professional East Indian couple, need an egg donor of East Indian descent, who is attractive and intelligent (SAT score of 1400+) with a good personality. Privacy is guaranteed. Please contact our agent: xxxx'Is this for real?', you ask...
http://www.dailybruin.ucla.edu/marketplace/imaker.dll?id=4
It's not presumptuous to say the people behind these ads care about the opinions of their friends in society more than they care for human society in general.
Imagine what they could do with $50,000 instead: cover modest attorney fees to adopt a child, invest in an educational plan for their child, or donate a large balance to the health and well-being of other needy children.
By the way, I don't intend to pick on East Indian couples; the majority of the ads I have seen are from white couples who want a tall white intelligent college athletic woman.
