Welcome to the board sweetie. Im not a JW - I was born one, got baptised at 16 and left 7 years ago when I was 29.
You are more than welcome to this board. You are a bright articulate young lady, and we love to chat here about all sorts of things. If you are looking for encouragement in life and in your decisions you will meet some really supportive people here. Ifyou are looking for intelliegent discussion about spirituality and the bible you will find it here.
But if you are looking for godly discussion that will specifically strengthen your faith in the Jehovahs Witnesses faith, I doubt you would find that here. I think you need to read some of the things that we have talked about here, and decide whether you specific requirements will be met.
My personal recommedation is for you to stick around and learn. But be aware that you may learn things that will make you think in a way you might feel uncomfortable with, because it is a way of thinking discouraged by the society.

What's your view on my "Being the Brother" issue that came up today?
by soundbox_guy ini'm in field service today and i'm not even the guy that took the group out, as a matter of fact, i show up late today as usual.
well anyway, i'm assigned to be on another street with my mother and some other witnesses.
at this point i'm the only brother because the other guy hasn't shown up yet.

Thats the attitude young 'un!!! Nothing wrong with women my age. Now, your job is to preach that message to all men between the age of, say, 21 and 27...
Actually im partial to a bit of fresh meat - my partner is only a couple of years older than you.

Disempowerment of women WTBS use of that woman Jezebel analogy
by cyborg injust wondering if anyone has had similar experience.
i could swallow the fact that only men were given main parts at the meeting (i wouldnt want them anyway) but that im humiliated every time i tried to give opinion or make a suggestion, is just beyond me.
in fact if i was even mildly persistent to make them see my point of view id be presented with that woman jezebel analogy.

I remember a super righteous brother from our cong went to Estonia to be a super righteous pain in the ass over there. When he came back for a holiday he related how they just didnt have the correct theocratic approach because when the sisters gave their talks, instead of facing each other and pretending to be in conversation with each other, the sister giving the talk would (gasp) turn to face the audience and begin explaining the main point of the talk DIRECTLY to the congregation (how DARE she??), and how he had to work really hard to correct their thinking.
I remember thinking how painfully petty.
I want 'jezebelled' like you thankfully, just patronised like a child (pat on back, yes yes dear). And I agree with you any intelligent woman in a cong is doomed. The men in my cong were very ill educated (like D H Lawrences miners!), and were deeply threatened by anyone eloquent.

Its not your fault hunny, there was nothing you could have done. If you had tried to get him to drop it earlier he would have said 'whats eating you, im ONLY looking, its not like im gonna join or anything, I just want to hear what they have to say'. In fact your opposition might have made him think ' whats the big deal with this, I must investigate further...'
Your only problem was giving your heart to a man who had latent tendencies that laid him open to cults. (maybe a needy feeling to belong, or something). If it wasnt the cult, the need in him might have caused other problems in your relationship. (e.g. if someone blame themselves for their partner being an alcoholic, but really its the 'addictive gene' in the partner, and if it wasnt alcohol it might have been gambling or some other addictive habit)
One day, and I know it doesnt feel like it now, you will meet a guy who feels complete with just you in his life. I hope the pain eases in time, and your life opens up to happiness soon.

WHY INVITE A ZEBRA INTO THE PARLOR?
by Terry inthere has to be a good reason to invite a zebra into the parlor.
what is the reason?
now, don't say, "i don't have a parlor", because that is dodging the question.

- To give the neighbours the 'mother of all cognitive dissonance' headaches
- To get rid of your partner (love me love my zebra)
- To make you feel like that last lump of dope you bought really DID work, man

Are you a contradiction of yourself?
by IP_SEC ini was having lunch with my best buddy once.
he was a workmate that i shared an office with and we became very close.
in fact i credit him a lot for helping me to see the world from a different perspective which led to my taking a closer look at the dubs.

I dont think we have to be a 100% consistent sorted person. We are a whole mix of loads of things, some good some bad. I think we take the balance of things to define ourselves by - i.e. are the majority of my traits good? Then Im a good person. But we can still have a good person doing bad things, or an organised person doing scatty things, etc etc
I think if we are looking to be totally consistent in our traits we are probably a boring accountant - I mean probably somone who never does anything out of character once in a while just for the hell of it.
Now, me, Im a really GOOD, HONEST, KIND person, but today, for the sakes of having a rounded personality, im off to buy a replica gun and escourt an old lady across the road at gunpoint. Does this make me a bad person???

You are a flexible reasonable person who values people (men AND women) and cares for their feelings.
You shouldnt be wasting all these valuable skills on field service, where they are guaranteed not to be recognised. You should be getting proper recognition and remuneration for your skills set in a forward thinking company that would bite your hand off to get such a capable manager.
Best of luck with your life choices, young 'un .
