What is the best way to help BurnTheShips...
by nvrgnbk into grasp that the basic purpose of science is to produce useful models of reality.
how to help him understand that trying to make observable reality "fit" around a collection of writings designed in its first half to inspire the oftentimes persecuted jewish people and in its second to consolidate the fragmented roman empire is an exercise in futility?.
sorry, burn.. i couldn't resist.. hope you're having a wonderful day,.

Your most memorable Kingdom Hall meeting disruptions!
by easyreader1970 ini remember about twenty years ago some teenagers were caught fornicating in one of the additional schools.
the schools were downstairs, essentially separated from the rest of the kh.
they weren't just happened upon, though.

Well a few have to do with people that had epileptic seizures, which of course is scary if you are a child. One was of my mother's best friend, who she did her best to explain to me, but as a young girl I really didn't understand and I remember when she had one right next to me. It stopped the meeting.
I remember a bee was in the Sunday meeting and then a few others, people were jumping about, little kids screaming.
I remember having a coughing fit that disrupted the entire service, I still remember that with a smile.
A fight breaking out between brothers in the back. It was WWE smackdown.

She believes in god's organization?!? I'm getting a divorce!
by kzjw ini never thought my live & let live attitude on religion would have screwed up things this bad.
i'm trying to help my wife find her way out, but i spoke with her tonite & she really believes in the "organization".
can i, in all honesty stay married to someone who essentially knows the bible, has read john 14, but believes the organization is your only path to salvation?

There are so many mosts:
(And I am sure a lot of the women can relate):
1) Doing jumping jacks doing that time of the month and looking down and seeing something unstick itself and fall promptly on the floor. If there was ever a time in my life that I could have wanted the earth to open and swallow me up, that was it.
2) Sitting at the conventions for hours in the summer during that time of the month, starting to sing "the melodies" and having someone tap me on the shoulder and say, "excuse me, there's something on the back of your dress" and wanting again for the earth to open and swallow me up.
3) Accidently walking in the men's room when I changed jobs and the M and F were on opposites sides. Interesting.
4) Being at a pool party in a bikini and realizing with great alarm why all the men were looking at me like I was a giant steak - when I saw my bikini top drifting slowly away in the water.
5) Laying on the floor with my then boyfriend, both of us naked, still entwined (eerr, ya), when his mother opens the door and walks in on us. Oh, the good old college days...

Is anybody else both fascinated and creeped out...
by Jewel in...by the flds brouhaha down in texas?
obviously the doctrine is way different, but there are so many similarities: the haunted look in so many eyes, the oppressively patriarchy, the lack of feeling, the use of fear and separation for control, the whole everyone-else-is-evil mentality.

Yes and yes.
I remember a client I had, she had one of these very rare mental defiencies brought on by brother and sister or first cousins having children, it was probably one of the most fascinating studies I have ever had. Seeing some of those pictures reminds me of that.

I'm seeing this pan out like the scene from The Departed where on the Head GB gives the baby GBs some false information to see if it floats up in the Apostanet. Then, concrete shoes in the East River ensue. Not really. (OK, maybe).
After I ate my dinner, I started thinking of possibly the same thing. Could be a plant to figure out where the rabbit hole is leading... I will wait until total confirmation.

I feel like the faithful slave has our best interests whether they are right or wrong
I would like for you to read that statement three times. And then ask yourself, how does someone have your best interest at heart if they are indeed wrong.
If you love your wife, you will allow her free will. Everyone must be allowed to make their own philosophical and religious decisions and if you really love your wife, you will allow her the right to explore her thoughts.
I understand you are hurt, but honestly, she is a very nice, decent person here who is just asking questions and finding some answers.
