  Dropped from my Bible Study like a hot potato

  i had a bible study with a jehovah's witness for the past year and a half.

  i was also attending meetings, but never went out in field service.

  during a recent study, i told the conductor that i didn't believe in the 'annointed' & didn't believe the fds had a 'hotline' to jehovah.

  Perhaps after your comments he had a heart attack. Or maybe he had developed a rare condition causing him to uncontrollably crap his pants when confronted with a statement not addressed in Reasoning from theScriptures.

  That was completely hilarious. JWs are not to ask questions regarding the Watchtower or the Governoring Body, if a study is already asking the hard questions, they would not make a good witness. You must have complete obedience to Governering Body and "Faithful Discreet Slave", which means literally checking your brain and free will at the door.

  On JWD? No, I haven't. I do not think that I can truly get know someone over a keyboard. However, I have made some very good friendships with people I have met since leaving the WTS. I think the reason for this is based on the fact that their friendship is not conditional to my standing with the Borg. Also, I can trully talk to them about my true feelings without worring about whether or not something I say might be construed as "apostacy" and having them blabber to the Elders.

  I would agree 100% with this statement.

  Ran into old JW friend in the airport...Correspondence has ensued...

  it was the same weekend that my mom and dad, to my surprise, agreed to meet with me.

  i was in midland, michigan, about a month ago, only an hour or so from where they live.

  in the airport on monday morning, in walked john, someone i remembered well from the jw congregation of my youth.

  1. They are still affected by long term mind control of the cult. (They heard for many years that anyone attacking the org, is attacking the "brothers").

  2. It is easier to do than take the brave step of examining one's belief system. (Far easier to just believe, but not participate).

  3. They want to keep peace with those they still have a relationship with in the org.

  4. They want to keep the "door open", just in case they decide to go back.

  5. They largely still think like jws. They may disagree in some key areas , but still believe the "big" stuff.

  Bravo! I so agree, I also want to add that the main crux of this religion is fear of destruction when the world ends, and there are so many people that still want to keep a pinky toe in just in case that dreaded Armaggedon comes and they have a chance to live. This type of indoctrination is hard to get rid of, and when you see world events that are supposedly verifying this teaching, you have those that are "out" still trying to hold on in some way.

  How Long Did It Take You to Realize It Wasn't "The Truth"?

  i see some posters still aren't 100% sure that the jehovah's witness religion might not be "the truth"....was there a moment when things became very clear for you regarding this religion?.

  I was born in, I was never giving a choice of what to believe, but when I was 15, after constant preaching at me, toward me, and it filling every single aspect of my life - I realized it was a complete load of crap. The explanations, the flip flops, the research I did on my own, the many lies and justifications over the years, the mistreatment of women as second class, the changing dates of the Armeggedon, the doctrine that just made no sense whatsoever - I was tired of listening to a group of men in New York I had never met, it just made no sense to give such loyalty.

  I respect anyone's right to believe what they want, even if they want to believe water isn't wet and the sky is really orange, but there is absolutely no way that I believe these people know the truth.

  No one can save you but yourself. You are at the first step, it's like being born again. You feel alone, lost, not knowing where to go but you are reaching out. Start anew, don't be afraid, wake up everyday with the belief that you can change your world to whatever you want it to be.

  You control the sky, your attitude controls your altitude. You will be okay, just believe in yourself and create a whole new world.

  they just read this letter last night, where the fds stated that they will no longer charge interest on contribution money they lend back to congregations as loans...

  i guess they realized they were double dipping... lol

  Cult-like explanations engrained in JWs to explain away and ignore the fallacy in the religion. Every time I hear that language I just want to throw up.

  i was talking to my brother, who remembered an elder who came (in the mundane sense) on a regular basis to talk to us for shepherding calls.. sadly i now realise we got all these calls on cold winter sudays, because with unbaptized kids they could count the time.

  ( i used to think the borg just cared more in those days).

  anyway - this time he went on and on about apostates, it was just before the dc.

  i have been fading for years now and attend meetings very rarely these days.

  but something happened recently to make me think about going regularly again.

  a couple have returned to my congregation who used to be special pioneers here twenty years ago.

  I don't care how many delusional or misguided people get excited about a lie, once I know it is a lie, if I continue, that makes me irrational and confused.
