Great story, I never truly practiced that anyway, but I remember one time when I was 16 and working at a Sear department store, I was heavy in the religion, although the seeds of discontent had been created and I found out that the tailor in our department was a DF'd man. I was shocked because he knew I was a JW, he and I and some of our other coworkers had been out after work more than a few times and he never once said anything. And I absolutely adored him, he was a crack up. And when I found out, the next day I had to work with him, and I thought, "why should I ignore him? I like him! He's done nothing to me." And I remember going into work happy, smiling to myself because I decided to do what I believed was right and not what some idiots on a podium told me to do.

Elder's Wife Apologizes In Tears for Shunning Me Yesterday
by Seeker4 inhad a really interesting experience i thought some here might like to hear about.
my jw ex-wife and i still own a house together, (she lives in it and a non-jw adult son is living there with her temporarily), not to mention the three kids and seven grandkids we share, so we interact quite a bit, e-mailing, calling or seeing each other a few times a week or so.
i'm still doing some remodeling to our house.

If not for the 'truth' I'd be a serial killer
by coolhandluke inlet me explain that.
i think humans go through these phases where we see things and experience things that begin to callouse our minds.
my dad is an amazing dichotomy of loving and violent.

I don't know you, but I totally understand. Even when I joined over two years ago, I am not even sure I posted. I have been out for 18 years and I haven't thought in terms of anti-JW or anything. It is what it is. I relate facets of it, but otherwise, I'm just me, living my life, not at all in the JW construct. I wish you the best.

NY Giants by 3
If I am wrong, I will buy any Pats fan from the board a beer, the next time they are in NY.
I just want to know HOW you knew this? Great for doing the good prediction!

Question: Can the end come before a witness is given in China, etc.?
by Olin Moyles Ghost ini have enjoyed reading this board off-and-on over the past several months.
the collective knowledge on this board is impressive.
anyway, to my question...

The wt has used the communal responsibility reasoning. Thus, nancy yun gave a witness to china a few yrs ago and was rejected by chinese leaders. Now, wt god can destroy a billion chinese w full righteousness and justice. Simple, eh? Don't know why he is tarrying. Maybe, he doesn't exist.
SI literally laughed out loud on this. When one really examines the ludricous ideas of the JWs, it is that silly and ridiculous.

Update on last nights dinner.
by myababes inthanks to everyone for thre good advice i got for last night.. however omg, the husband is more of an apostate than i am!!!!!!
it didn't take long for the conversation to get round to religion brought up by themselves and they really let flow.
how unhappy they were with a lot of the teachings, how it was a manmade org, and they were only in it because they wanted to serve jehovah and jesus, and he sounded like one of us talking when he listed the research he had done on the dates, generation, paedophiles, gb, boe and everything else we question.

Sounds like a great time had by all.
Glad you could talk freely without anyone feeling like they had to tap dance around the subject.

Are you a morning person or a night owl and why?
by DJPoetech ini feel i'm a morning person because my thoughts are best in the morning.
i am sometimes awaken by inspiration.
i turn into a big lump before bed.

Oh I am most definitely a night owl and a night person. I battle with getting up every single day. I tend to be a little grumpy in the morning and I have not peaked until sometime after 12 pm.
By the time darkness comes, I am completely comfortable.
"I love the night life, I like to boggie..."

Alarming statement in today's study article in WT...
by Mickey mouse inparagraph 15: "as we get nearer to the outbreak of the great tribulation, we may well receive some detailed instructions.
our safe journey through those troublesome days will depend on our keeping in step with other loyal servants of jehovah.
" this in the context of a wt discussing the israelites' exodus from egypt and how jehovah had them into a position where there seemed "no way out".

This kind of stuff is troubling, whenever I read anything remotely like it. I still have family in it that I love dearly, it would break my heart to see them packing up and moving to some cult like camp or something like that. It won't be good.
