i thought i might start a series of presentations to assist critical thinking and the dispelling of fearful conceptions about biblical text.

i have no particular order of study, just random as i think of it.

important to this examination of fearful assumptions is the input of your views, and/or the official jw thought on the topic particulars - anyway, here goes

the above thread got me thinking.

one of the main reasons dub's don't get involved with the military is that they do not want to "support" the government to which it serves.

ok, how about working for the government?

JW dating sites and the number of divorced!

i was curious to see if i knew anyone that would post on a jw dating site so i checked out jw connections that is linked to on this page.

i did not find anyone i know but i was kinda shocked to see the number of ones there that were "divorced, but free to marry".

is this a big problem now or is it just that more divorced jw's use the web to find "mates".

Can someone help me to understand?

i am very new to this whole "religion" and although i have pulled up some information on jehovah's witnesses, i can't seem to get my arms around it.

the reason i have come here is because my father has been doing bible studies and readings for about 2 years now and over the last 6 months to a year he has been someone very different from who i used to know.

it all started with a near fatal car accident and then with my sister getting involved with drugs and running away with her boyfriend.

JW women focused on appearance!

it really gets on my nerves.. jw women used to be always focused, as their number one thing, on appearance.

they could be crap at the rest of the jw stuff, but if they turned up at the meeting dressed nice, thin, long hair, looking nice, all was forgiven.

JW belief and Catholic Nicene Creed: resurrection of the dead

i'm confused...jw teaches that the dead will be resurrected and live in new world (simplified of course for this purpose) and nicene creed at end says "look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come"

so, scriptually, does this mean that there may be a resurrection of the dead upon the earth?

i'm not sure how old the nicene creed is...just strange that this line is even in it considering that catholic church teaches that our soul (if good) goes to heaven when we die (again simplified).

Why do active witnesses frequent the site?

i'm somewhat currious why active witnesses appear to frequent the site, and if the information on this site causes any to "fade away" or "dis-associate"?.

personally if i have known 18 years ago what i know now i would have been a lot more active in trying to convince all i cared about to leave, instead of fading away [gone with a bang so to speak].

it's funny how when you are in it you can't see it for what it is.

What do you feel when you see groups of Jehovah's Witnesses on the street?

how about sadness, sorrow, sympathy, understanding, even yearning!.

it can be quite confusing at times.
