Well, all those letters will eventually get out. . .but the way he was put out is a shame. Tell him thanks and he is appreciated. If he is in Houston area I'll treat him to lunch.

Get ready for phone calls from Elders either this week or when the next CO visit happens.
by EndofMysteries ini got a call the other day, it looks like the gb is telling everyone to contact all inactive ones, let them know they are missed, etc, and to do it within a week.

I am moving to a new house at the end of this week-very anglo, no gates, so no excuses. I wonder how many years before a English language JW shows up at my little house in Houston? I will live in the Sagemont area . . . sorta not holding my breath, but I kinda am in the mood for a bit of a confrontation that my mom won't ever get wind of!

I was just in Tampa at Christmas time. Went out on Christmas day and watched dolphins whip around the bay as I stood on the pier with my husband. I loved it there. Not far from Orlando, but not too close. I'd take a couple weeks and do a road trip/vacation and explore the areas that look good for job opportunities for you. Or check with your HR dept about transfers that might be available there or elsewhere.

My Window Cleaner
by happy@last inmy window cleaner is a jw and as i am always working when he comes to my house i haven't seen him or spoken to him in years.
the other day i was in my local town and went into a cafe for some lunch.
who is sitting there but my window cleaner and his wife.

I do think you should tell the neighbors about his character. You should pay him and tell him why he is fired, in person.
He knew who you were and whose windows he was cleaning. I wanted to think the best of him, but as that option is removed, you should just be done with him. And be careful of who you hire in the future.

I wonder if the new awareness of the implications of BULLYING could be used in this kind of case. Yes, we all have a right to like who we like and associate with those who we want to, but group intimidation and bullying is now being prosecuted when people commit suicide or hurt themselves. Even now they are cominng back and blaming bullies who mess with the guys who turn into the mass murderers at malls or schools.
That trend could work towards ending the legalized bullying of people who no longer wish to be in a religion. Think about it. That announcemet is made for the very PURPOSE of ruining another's life. If someone doesn't like you or want to be around you because of your actions, that is one thing, but to be announced as a person to bully, publicly and privately. . . which is what they are doing-seems a bit like mass bullying to me.

My husband was sued and without any appeals it took 7 years to get before a judge. He won, it was frivolous and extortionate from the get go, but once the judge saw it, it was over. This clearly is not that way AND she already won. I think the only extortion here is the WT's as they are the one that lost and is appealing. . . because they are hoping (I bet) that she will accept a smaller amount just to make it all go away. I guess that is something between parties so we will maybe not know unless it is accepted (as I think CA has to report all settlements now, too)

Oscar Pistorious
by LouBelle inis anyone here following what is happening with the trial in south africa.
what are your thoughts?
how are the media handling this?

I have paid attention, but not 'rapt' attention. I have heard of the crime and violence in So. Africa. I kind of think he is just another example of the general lack of civility and respect for the laws and rights of others that has been endemic in that country for WAAAY too long. Unfortunately he has a position such that he will be given more of the benefit of the doubt than other classes would be (who we would never hear of in a million years). Corruption is contagious. He may think he has a "get out of jail free card"(do you have Monopoly game in S. Africa?) He has white privilege, he has wealth and he is adored and famous.

in my neighborhood, we can't get anyone to speak to us-we don't speak spanish. Oddly, THEY DO, but they are working the spanish language crowds and I live in a diverse neighborhood in Houston. So, I'd talk to them (I'd enjoy it!) Only, no one will speak to me because I am anglo. Which they are too, so its extra stupid.
They REALLY don't want to actually talk to anyone.

Not sure of your ages or stages (kids?),but here is the thing.A lot of people go through a phase when they are partying and being pretty silly and irresponsible. Then they GROW UP. Unless your wife and you are still in your early 20's, you have probably become fully mature adults and have literally left that part of your childhood behind.
If there were actual problems beyond youth and immaturity, deal with them proactively (a-anon or doctor or therapy or whatever is needed).
People often turn to religion when they WANT something to change. That might well have been a decision that preceeded her involvement with the WT org, it was jus the vehicle she used. you are grown ups now.Hopefully, the silly stuff is over in any case.
