Wow. Is that why they are downsizing? To get rid of all the unrepentent happy dancers and toilet scrubber wavers? -

after completion the gb will announce the tribulation is upon us!

That all the GB are as deluded as the rest is negated by the grooming that has been going on more intensely than before for JWs to accept whatever is coming down the pipe. The bit about "accepting anything from the GB,even if it seems illogical from a human standpoint" is a clue. They are putting JWs in a mindset to accept anything. That they are presenting the basement scenario even now---fits in nicely. That accepting the JW is tantamount to being a Christian.. .well, no pressure there!
I think that they have a game, but its not an endgame, its a stretch things out so as to avoid the good times ending for THEM game. . .

Conti Appeal Preview - Oral Argument Jan 14
by Chaserious inwith hopefully a good deal of interest here in the conti appeal tomorrow (or later today, depending on where you are), i thought that on my ride home from work tonight i'd preview what to expect and what i think the key issues are for any who are interested.
i have had a busy few weeks and haven't had time to read everything, but i had some time to look at the appeal briefs during my work commute the past couple days.
it'll be interesting to see what develops out of the network news coverage of this case.

Special relationship: The WT says this about it "Be obedient to those who are taking the lead among you and be submissive, for they are keeping watch over your souls.”—HEBREWS 13:17."
In response to our submission, they are supposed to be keeping watch over our LIVES (their def. of soul). They said "The Bible says that the elders “are keeping watch over your souls.” This means that the elders want to help each person in the congregation to stay close to Jehovah. So they are quick to help a brother or a sister who is about to make, or has already made, a bad decision." They are supposed to help folks to keep them from even MAKING a bad decision. It goes on to say, " They protect their brothers from those who want to lead them away from Jehovah. The apostle Peter warned that “false prophets” and “false teachers” would try to get weak Christians to disobey Jehovah. (2 Peter 2:1, 14) Today, elders must give similar warnings when needed. The elders are wise Christians who have experience in life. They were appointed as elders because they have shown that they clearly understand the Scriptures and are qualified to teach the truth from the Bible. (1 Timothy 3:2; Titus 1:9) Their maturity, balance, and Bible-based wisdom help them to give good direction to their brothers and sisters." http://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/ws20131115/obey-jehovahs-shepherds/#?insight[search_id]=1122f847-5085-4562-a50c-f6d5ec6919ee&insight[search_result_index]=4
They didn't protect the abuser from himself and they sure didn't do anything to protect the spirituality of Candace or any child in the org. The thing is, they say that that is THEIR RELATIONSHIP-to protect the flock from those who would destroy them. Child sexual abuse is known to be VERY destructive. They did nothing to protect those that they knew could be hurt by Kendrick though they claimed and still claim a special relationship. They should have directed all parents to steer their children clear of Kendrick and should have kept him out of congrgational activities that could expose him to them (I would refuse him entrance to the hall and rescind his Ordainded ministerial status permanently- but that's just me)

The hypocrisy Jesus had towards the pharisees and sadducees
by adjusted knowledge init is no wonder the jewish leaders had ridiculous rules concerning the sabbath.
the following scripture alone should instill fear of those forsaking the sabbath.. (numbers 15:32-36)--"now while the sons of israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering wood on the sabbath day.
33and those who found him gathering wood brought him to moses and aaron, and to all the congregation; 34and they put him in custody because it had not been declared what should be done to him.

The wandering around just muching grains argument may be fair enough (or not, but whatever), but the first thing that went through my mind was, so THOSE grains didn't count against you for the sabbath like all calories don't count (if you are driving, on your birthday, if you are drunk, or while you are cooking). It strikes me initially with it being a distinction without much of a difference. Gathering grains to eat is what you do during the harvest, too. I imagine some of them are "munched", too.
I continually wonder about the rules that matter to God (assuming you believe there is one and there was ever any truth to scriptures) vs. the things that man came up with over time to "clarify" his rules (like the blood transfusion teaching and the prohibition against smoking)
How much of what made it to the works we now count as scripture were actually "inspired"? Considering the history of its being written, I would submit that there is plenty that was "cleared up" the priests and teachers as they were gathering their followers and encouraging them to 'righteousness'.

Story of a GB ass-kisser
by zound ini was reading a life story article in the latest watchtower and had a few thoughts about it i thought i'd share here.
these life story things are always so depressing to me - this one is slightly interesting because it is told by a current "governing body helper".. it's called "full time ministry - where it has led me.
" reading it i just got the impression that this guy (robert) was aiming to be a gb member but fell short and ended up being a gb "helper".

It's a pretty sad life story. It does not seem like a spiritual paradise, but I never really got a lot out of brown nosing. Doesn't suit my temperment. The thing is, that DOES suit the temperments of a lot of people in this world. If he found a place that works for him-well. Good for him. Lucky he never got sent home when he was 55 like many do. -

My sister was invited to a Judicial Committee
by opusdei1972 intoday i called to my sister and she told me that two elders went to her house to announce her that a judicial committe is waiting her in the kingdom hall this friday.
she told them that she will confirm if she will go.
however, i have told her that she shouldn't go, instead she should ask them to write a formal letter, with signatures, asking her for which charges she should be submitted in a private room with two men (or three?

There are legal service plans that are $20 a month. They will, for that $20, consult with you and write a letter for you. Cheaper than hiring a lawyer the old fashioned way. If you need a follow up, then they will charge (discounted from normal letter writing charge). They are good for other things too-so you could get your families wills drawn up, a med. power of attorney (to make sure JW relative doesn't get power over you if ill) and consult about a lot of things for no hourly charge. Having a lawyer gives you power to get your right to not be harrassed by these idiots. One of the mottos is that they help you in all legal matters-trivial to tragic. Isnt it ironic that our dealings with the WT are both those things?. It is really all this trivial CRAP that often ends up being a tragedy to families as they are destroyed by their association with this organization. -

JW TV is the reason for the hysteria in the KH
by campaign of hate inif you, like me, have noticed the sudden increase in hysteria in the khs right now, i put it down to that jw tv site.
its's far more extensive than i thought it was, i thought it was just 1, 1 hour program a month.
there's a s*** load of videos on that site.. and the real problem, from just watching a clip from each video, is that these guys are clearly "mentally unstable".

Hey, if they go all batsh** crazy, just short of Jonestown, they still get what they want. They have all these properties and over the next few years seem to be on a building boom(by their accounts) that will be accomplished with as much donated land, materials and labor as they can squeeze out of folks, they are preparing JWs to fully expect to be meeting in basements wearing JEANS, no less(!), they want your money, they demand obedience, the ask you to do dumb ass things (not logical to normal human beings). So a bunch of people drop out. The leavers have no recourse to keep or sell the buildings so they are SOL. The org consolidates the congregations over the next few years and sells hall after hall after hall. At some point, they create a crisis point and convince all JWs they are being persecuted(or they might be persecuted-who knows what kind of crap the WT will pull to accomplish it?). The last few halls head for the basements. They decide that halls are superfluous and gradually (as the economy dictates the best timing) sell off all the halls. They won't have many JWs left, but the residual wealth will keep chosen ones in luxury and comfort for generations to come without another donation to speak of. In the meantime, the elders will move/disappear and records will vanish and make it difficult to prosecute congregations that no longer exist. Brothers that are no longer brothers will be considered hostile witnesses and the WT will get out of all kinds of trouble since the prosecution will have a hell of a time getting any records. So, they will have their luxury residences for Bethelites while the rest of the JWs are supporting their lifestyle while meeting in basements or rented halls because all the KHs got sold off. -

At the meeting ... Ugh
by cappytan inat least i have this forum.
is there a shorthand for referring to this website?
saying jehovahs-witness.com seems like a long winded way..

Gosh, you guys, I almost wish I was still in so I could give subversive comments during the meetings. I have seen articles when at my moms and -Jeez!! There are so many openings. I can't believe that it isn't a sport for young JWs. You would think that would keep them so busy "commenting" that the 'adults' would get complacent and before you know it-revolution!
I was in Qatar during the Egyptian revolution and every Egyptian I knew wanted to be at home so they could stand in that peaceful protest and tell Mubarak what they thought of him. I now understand the inclination more than before.
You guys-do the rest of us proud! Your moms and dads will be so proud too-they likely won't catch on to you unless they are thinking the same way-and if they are, then they will be proud of you for WHAT they are catching on to.

I'm sorry about your grampa. For most of us, grandparents are very important and valued people in our lives that help form us. It's a BIG loss, no matter what you think will be in the hereafter, in the here and now, we miss the people we love when they pass away.
When you love someone a lot and others can't even give a smidgen of kindness about their passing, it says something about them. That kind of insensitivity seems to indicate a lack of any real intimacy or friendship. OTOH, they may be just socially terribly awkward. Bring it up and see if they can respond with any warmth and think about how good of friends that they truly are/are not.

WT's subtle attack on Wikipedia!
by Wonderment indid anyone notice this wt's subtle attack on wikipedia?

I think Wiki is a great place to start-if they offer info without references then you can take if for what it is worth, but when they provide references you can get clued into great (real) source material. I think that they should have acknowledged that because it is true and as a teacher, I have spoken to my students about it several times a semester. It's really a great first step for subjects that are unfamiliar to a researcher or student. I also told them if they EVER used Wiki as their primary source material that they would lose an enormous amount of points for each infraction and it could result in a total fail, regardless of other merits of a paper. (I was a hardass about that).
