A difficult yet necessary decision
by Brother Jeramy inthe past five weeks have been perhaps the most painful in my life as a witness.. some months ago a young man (i'd say in his late thirties or early forties) began attending meetings at my kingdom hall.
he had just moved to my area from another state.
he had disassociated himself from his home congregation many years back, when he was 20 years old and going through many of the typical trials and temptations most young men experience.. two of the elders met with him initially, and they later shared the details with the body of elders.

This was a harsh awakening for you. I'm sorry for both you and the other brother.Better now than your whole life dedicated to all that nastiness. -

Why using Jehovah for God's name is as good as using Yahweh
by oppostate inin another thread i wrote some notes about why using jehovah in english is as good as using yahweh.
i'm starting a discussion on this topic because it sounds quite ignorant to hear people talk of the monk who started using it in latin without really understanding why the monk did so.. the spanish dominican monk, raymundus martini, in 1270, didn't get hoodwinked by an old jewish superstition about pronouncing the divine name with the vowel points of another word.. 1. first the vowel points of adonay and jehovah cannot be the same for grammatical reasons.
you just can't use the same vowel points because some vowels aren't paired with some consonants in pronouncing hebrew words.

We don't know the actual name. If it is significant, truly, for salvation, then everyone is screwed, however you want to justify the version of it that you use. God who must not be named, did not see fit to keep it actually KNOWN. Oral traditions are dead. -

Who says Candace didn't change anything? Well, me. I still do not see a change-not even an acknowledgement of the part of the organization (even naively) in perpetuating these crimes. Not an active encouragement TO report or an acknowledgement of the true harms that are done. Same blather, different day. ThAt they have to bring it up is good. That they won't address the issues they have in the organization and the congregations and urging parents actively to report is a fail. The travesty remains unchanged. He spent 10 min making excuses, not presenting any forward or progressive action. -

JWs are nice-but go into a southern baptist or a Catholic church and folks are pretty nice. And some, like JWs are more or less nice out of church. Those churches don't go around saying they are superior to all others, they state that Jesus is. That's the difference generally. Nice people doing nice for Jesus or doing nice for the leadership of the religion. Orrrrrr outside of churches, there are a lot of nice folks doing good for others. . . . .just because. Nothing wrong with that!
I think the wt/jws are like an invisible fence. So long as you shot where they tell you, you ate fine. Try to explore the neighborhood and you are severely punished.

by Lied2NoMore inso after being deleted because of my comment on her instagram post by my sister-in-law i got a text from her stating she didn't want a debate on instagram and the scripture i posted would not apply to satan, they are worried about me, go see elders, return to jehovah, or else you won't get life, etc etc.... i'm ready to respond with the following reply:.

I'm not sure of your purpose, but the first half paragraph will say what fairly needs to be said in response to the deletion of your post.
I'd edit it down to : Truth will always stand up to scrutiny if it indeed is truth. Lies can only stand if the truth isn't allowed to be revealed.
The rest is fine if you want to shut your sister out of your life til kingdom come. As true as it is, every bit of hostility doesn't need to come outoday, does it? You know that your posting it will put you on permanent outs with sis, right?

Advice Needed - JW Grandparents
by What Now? inmy family has been out (inactive no meeting attendance or field service) for just over two years..
weve made many changes in our lives, including with our personal appearances (tattoos, piercings etc) that are a pretty obvious sign that we arent going back any time soon.
our families went through a period of time about a year ago when they made a lot of threats that if we left the truth, they wouldnt even be able to share a meal with us, they would stay loyal to jehovah etc.

Ever think about just saying that you don't want them exposed to the religion because you never want the JW relatives in the position of thinking they need to shun your kids if they don't come to accept it as truth. They were willing to shun you. Tell them you'd rather your children don't have a close relationship to lose than for your kids to face what you have had to face for being similarly exposed to it. You want your kids to only experience unconditional love from family.

Your family is lucky to be around your kids at all. It's good the babysitting is out. I think there can still be a conversation though. Go over some positive character education that you got as a child that is not so much JW centric as it is humanity centric. You can give the JWs credit for that as a generosity though you know it's some stretchy b.s..
Tell your parents that indoctrinating your children with unique religious dogma is not ok, but if they want to include them in their Christian work of feeding the poor and assisting widows(cleaning, cooking, yard work) you would be happy for your kids to help shop or work at a food bank(as age appropriate) you would be happy to work with them in doing some practical Christian loving in your community. They can take that however they want, but it may give your family a new experience and something positive to do with the kids and you.
