Money, Money, Money...and Money, Money, Money
by The Rebel ini made a post of this, but feel it warrants a thread.
in central london ( paddington) the " property management company" we refer to as jehovers witnesses, bought a church building, which is now a kingdom hall, but with the outside appearance of a church.. i got an explanation from bethel " it's just a building".
well let's give the organisation credit for its business sence.

This does beg a question-who does get halls? We hear of africans swimming across snake infested rivers to get to meetings, we hear of people in small towns having their halls closed and sent to bigger towns, driving many miles to get to a hall afterwards, we hear of multimillion dollar properties with 5 congregations in the middle of the most expensive neighborhood in London . . . halls can vary in price from maybe $50K in some small towns in the US to millions in a large urban area. A grass hut in Africa or small towns in Asia. Nice, very simple halls in more populated 3rd world countries. Total dives in the South Bronx (I have seen a couple many years ago and they were scary) Which JWs should get the multimillion dollar places of worship? Since the WT has taken over EVERYTHING, it actually seems very unegalitarian that anyone is crossing a river or a road that another does not have to. In this way, I can see the WTjustifiying going back to home meetings exclusively after they do (and they WILL) sell off most of the property. They can't allow a struggling small town congregation in the US to stay "alive" because it isn't self supporting. . . well-lets be fair! Mark my words(at least in pencil), there will soon be teachings about "home churches" or some such thing. -

If your Bethelite Brother Doesn't Know About It, It Musn't Be True
by HomebytheSea ina few weeks ago my deeply indoctrinated father who is a long time elder was wondering why we hadn't been attending meetings, and why my 8 yr old son wasn't on the theocratic school ( sounds like i almost off the hook with that one...lol).
we live in a different state, but i came to find out that one of the elders in our hall called my father, who he never met, to see why our meeting attendance had been so sporadic (i am in my mid-40's, so that knowledge made my blood boil, to put it mildly!
i tried not to answer, but he kept pressuring me, so i brought up the arc and child abuse cases i had heard of in our area.

Any thoughts on the real reasons for droppng the 'school"
by sparrowdown inmy thoughts are.
1. they want to avoid being made to comply with any laws that come with anything classed as a "school" especially a school with children enrolled.. 2. the mid-week meeting has been dying in the ass for years and needs a revival.
i predict happy -clappy-sing-a-longs to be included in the program.. anyone else have any thoughts ??

The weak link bit is true. But then so is the questions in the WT study. I think there will soon be one meeting a week. They will direct you to more online indoctrination. The Sunday talk will soon be pre recorded also and the WT will be set up so that no wild card answers will happen anymore. I can see the elders role as judicial and janitorial in the future. They unlock and lock up, making sure the collection boxes are emptied and sent direct to Brooklyn or wherever. Remind sisters to clean the bathrooms. -

she is on morphine and hanging on.

I'm sorry you are going through this, but happy you have a loving relationship and that she was good to you. That's a blessing. Surround yourself and her in that blanket of love as you have always done and when she passes you won't have regrets, just good memories. -

No printing? What are they doing there besides residing? Because, honestly, it seems that they have one admin building and a maintenance building. The residence they showed is pretty nice-nicer digs than any JWs of my current acquaintance has. -

E-Mail, Just recived. About Bethell adjustments.
by DwainBowman ini just read an email from a friend, and she shared some very interesting emails from her friends about information on changes now happening at the bethels around the world.
here is the email: .
---------------------------------thanks sally, jesus is directing the org and all decisions and instructions to us may not seem practical from now on, neither will we understand the reasonings behind many of the changes that the organization makes.

I think it would be fun to present the basics to John Gresham and see what kind of dramatic scenario he would come up sign-up his speculations about how directors in a non profit could get away with stealing it all. . . Wouldn't it be funny if it was just discovered that one or a few of them did already?Wouldn't be surprised a bit. -

What was the strangest off-the-cuff remark you ever heard from and elder or higher appointee?
by donny ini showed up for saturday morning field service and i was partnered with an elder who had transferred to our congregation in the dallas, texas area from michigan.
i told him about a recent embarrassing moment where i had played a "worldly" song during the sunday meeting due to someone replacing the cassette i had placed in the cassette player late friday night that had the correct "kingdom melody.".
out of the blue he said "about 4 years ago i was giving the sunday talk and i kept sporting a boner from time to time which was bizarre since being horny and teaching about jehovah is typically not something one associates with one another.".

I think that he was clearly reproved, whatever the technicalities involved were! -

Is Warwick still being built?
by Coded Logic indoes anyone know if this new freeze on all construction projects includes the new headquarters being built in warwick?.
if it does apply to it, then this really makes no sense whatsoever.
the society is poised to make hundreds of millions of dollars (perhaps even a billion) by selling the properties they currently occupy in brooklyn.

They can close every other JWs facility in the world and still live like kings in upstate Ny without doing a darn thing for any other JWs and they will get away with it. They don't have to pretend, they have the power and have been given impunity by JWs. No one can say a word against them no matter WHAT they say or do. However illogical it is! -

Seen an Angel witnessing...
by Aleph inhere in france we received instruction to stand back from the cart.. so you can see "angels" witnessing with a cart by its own, no one around, and no one cares, i stayed a while, did my shopping, and half an hour later the "poor angel" was still there on his own.... i guess wherever is the publisher, he s hard working counting his hours..

If this is all about god drawing folks then door to door work and carts are useless. Folks would just show up, un-instigated in any human way, to christians and ask about Jesus. No time sheets, car groups, carts or invites to any event necessary.
