>>>>We used to go to a place called The Hot Bagelry. They had the best bagels, fresh and huge with REAL cream cheese. But they have closed down some time ago. Always wondered why they ever closed down, so much better than the main stream places they have all over here now.

Good for you! Congratulations on your freedom and your personal accomplishments. i am proud of you and don't even know you!!
Sell the books on ebay, there are lots of people that keep those things for research. No sense in cluttering up your house with it!

Parking lot encounter, but not with JW's...
by DesertRat inyesterday (monday) while getting out of my car in a supermarket parking lot, i was approached by two well-dressed young men carrying bibles.
at the first instant i froze, thinking that they were 'you-know-whos.
' it should have occurred to me right then, from the fact that both were wearing white shirts, black ties, & name tags, that i was not dealing with jw's.. my immediate response was to say that i was not interested but thanks anyway.

We have several churches come by occasionally and invite us to services. About 4 at last count. Except the JWs-they no longer show up cause they know about me:)

Mennonite article on JW site
by undercover inthe article about the mennonite family becoming jws is on the main page of the wts website.. http://watchtower.org/library/w/2005/9/1/article_01.htm.
in the course of the article they give a little history of the sect but the juicy parts that would interest most of us here in "apostate land" are in the second half of the article.
some snippets:.

So, the mennonites gave up all the keep JW *literature* after one encounter with JWs? They weren't asked to do anything but give up WT LITERATURE or be shunned. Isn't it amazing how the WT is trying to instill in JWs an overabundance of reverence for LITERATURE???? To give up all for LITERATURE? THATS NUTS. Sorry for yelling, the article pisses me off, and I think that it is incredibly ironic. Shelly

Permanent Make-Up
by AudeSapere inpermanent make-up.
has anyone here looked into it?
are you happy you did it and how often to you have to have it touched up?.

I have known several people with it, and it doesn't look good from the get go, and the older you get, the scarier it looks. No offence to anyone, but I would NEVER get that, though there is plenty of plastic surgery things I would do! I am not agains surgical intervention on principle or anything! Good luck.

What to say?
by Sparkplug inhere is tonights questions for homework...now what am i to say to this?
especially seeing i do not believe most religion at all.... anything really.
i am very sceptical.

I think if you don't have a religious belief or have rejected it, that you have a perfectly valid paper. Respond with the reasons why you DON'T believe, the experiences that led up to it, how it makes you feel etc. Me, I regret that I am afraid to give myself up to faith in God anymore, since it is so messed up with belonging to a religion.

Monday is the LDS guys day 'off'. I am surprised they approached you in the parking lot. They must be very hardcore, cause that is the one day they don't have to be missionaries(well, they still have to be good, but it is prep day-to shop, clean, laundry, etc.)

I had a near parking lot encounter yesterday, but it was a guy who was just gonna hit me up for a few bucks for "a bus ticket-he has a job in the next town and his car broke down". Or else he was gonna hit me up for a ride and then rape and kill me. I don't talk to ANY freak who approaches me in a parking lot! (I live too close to a hosptital for criminally insane and high sec. prisons)

IF they were right
by KW13 inimagine you woke up in a paradise earth that was inhabited by jehovahs witnesses.
what would your reaction be?
personally i'd feel sick (if my perfect body would allow that lol) as eternity stuck with them, would be worse than hell.
-
JWdaughter
PRETTY BIG IF!!!!! I would wonder what I was doing there, and realize that God is much more merciful than JWs ever thought *if* in a perfect new earth he allows both ME and JWs to inhabit it. In that case, God is much more like I thought he was, and while I would wonder at Him for letting them participate, I would be glad he is good enough to let me in too!

Mom just told she would dime me out and get me disfellowshipped
by What-A-Coincidence inmy momma walked in caught me dozing and she saw what was on my desk ... a bottle of coffee liqueur.. she said if i get drunk she would talk to the elders and have me disfellowshipped.
you would do me that favor???
i didn't say that but i thought it.. .

Wow, I wish she would rat out all of my JW relatives. Freaking lot of them are alcoholics. It would really simplify family reunions if they were all D/F! Doesn't your mom know that JWs are allowed to drink? As much as they want so long as they don't get caught in disgrace in front of the elders or something?
