She isn't supposed to do that-according to her religion and the Bible. Remind her of her obligations to you as a wife. She may not respect YOU, but she has no scriptural reason to give you the cold shoulder. An unbelieving spouse is not to be divorced, but she is to relate to you as she did before-though w/o discussing spiritual things.

Wouldn't It Be Nice...
by Justice-One inwouldn't it be nice if we lived in a world were religion/cults did not get in the way of family relations?
i have now gotten the "cold shoulder" for almost two weeks from my wife of almost 28 years.
i'm sure it has something to do with finally telling her the elders can kiss my ass, and that i don't want to be there when the kool-aid comes out.

Paperback Bible
by PoppyR inmy mum proudly showed me the latest development, a cheap horrible paperback bible, she said how great it was to be able to turn the pages so easily!!
how do the dubs do it?
get people excited over making things cheaper and nastier.

Well, at least they can offer a 'bible' after a fashion to go along with their books for the free home 'bible' study. Funny how the book that people used to get for the Bible study wasn't a Bible! This is probably for those householders who are so biblically illiterate that they don't have a bible in their own home. Excellent opportunity for those tricky JWs to make sure they have the 'right' one to refer to! It will go so nicely with the cheap little study books they are giving out these days.

by Champion inhi everyone i don't post much but always check in to see what's happening.

The more I read about Russell, the more I think about modern day televangelists. Benny Hinn could take lessons from Russell.

Oh Brother....
by mama1119 inthis morning my doorbell rang, and i usually never answer my door unless i know someone is coming, because this is thick jw territory, but i did, and low and behold, its a lone jw.
he was working on the construction site across the street and was trying to locate the owners of a cat he kept seeing.
he didn't recognize me at first, he was looking at my halloween decorations, and then back at me like he knew something was off...so finally, he asked my name.

You ARE right. Pretty nervy of him to be condescending to you. Too bad you didn't have time to get into it with him.

Is there anyway anyone can deny all religion is nothing more than guesses?
by The Dragon insee it all the time...and children even talking about it!.
is there any evidence that can prove all religions are nothing more than other mens guesses into the intentions and plans of god?.
we cannot even discern each others intentions or thoughts...how can someone claim to know god's?

I believe in a creator, but I think that religion is Mans way of creating God as he wants Him to be. If you have a nice God, I guess that is harmless, but so many make God out to be some megalomaniac who plays with peoples heads. I like my vision/version of God. . .he is much nicer.

You made a good argument for reading the actual bible for what it says. Thank you for sticking up for what the book is SAYING. It went well, you are out, your family is free and you gave a good witness even if you don't feel like it yet. Good for you!
congratulations-I really liked you in Don Juan DeMarco, btw;)

New here
by Chameleon inhello everyone.. i'm an "active" jw and have been for...13 years but my faith in the jw org died about 5 years ago.. so, i've been doing the jw thing for 5 years now without believing in it.
i might be an ms soon, unfortunately.. i tried telling my parents about it but they said apostates are good with twisting words and whatnot.. they wouldn't even let me show them evidence of wt hypocrisy; however, my mother did say she found it odd that every once in a while, there's that publisher resolution of donating a certain amount a year.
there might be hope for her yet.

Don't say no to being a MS the way I said no to being a Den Mother-or you will be a MS so fast you get whiplash! The gradual fade w/some depression seems a good way to go. Seems as if your parents love you and you don't want to lose them (I assume) permanently and you are likely to if you just get out openly. Finding a job away from your folks after you graduate is a good plan, easier to fade in a cong. where your parents (elder dad) don't attend.
I was never baptised, left when I was 15, now 40. Its not easy, but you have a good start with college and some ambition. Don't let the Dubs get you down.
Shelly
What kind of nuts are baptising pre-pubescent children, knowing how many will leave and be shunned???

JW's and Girlscout cookies
by oppgirl63 inmy jw roommate and i were watching boston legal the other night and one case was about someone being fired for their religious beliefs.
when one of the lawyers was talking to the jury, he mentioned many religions and the odd, quirky things about them.
he did mention that if you were a jehovah's witness you couldn't buy girl scout cookies.

If you aren't supposed to JOIN the scouts, why would you ever support them? I always thought that GS cookies were like being gay in the military-Don't ask, don't tell! It would be like donating to a church or the military or something like that to buy the cookies, right?
