  Family Reuinion and Being Disfellowshipped (sorry...but it's long)

  it has been a long looong time since i posted on here, but never ceased reading all the posts and keeping up on the changes that have been going on!

  but it just seems that now i have a need to get something off my chest, and this is the one place that will most definitely understand the topic at hand.

  i have been disfellowshipped for about 8yrs now, and have dealt with the 'consequences' of that decision: all my so-called friends in the org left and i was also abandoned by my own family.

  Write or talk to him if possible and tell him the witness he gave to your family and how it just underlined his other bad behaviors with a heavy black marker. Talk about making Jehovah or his organization look bad. On his own, he makes them looks bloody evil.

  so, on another thread, about pluto, grreat teacher said something that speaks to my feelings about religon.

  "i've kinda been sad since pluto has been demoted to dwarf planet.. you talk about 9 planets and all the little kids at school will correct you real quick and tell you that now there are only 8 planets in the solar system!".

  nothing in the universe has changed but the opinion of men.

  Thanks everyone. This week I have had a lift from just recognising this. It's freed me from dwelling on things that sap my focus. I'm putting energy back into some things that actually matter in real life. Learning and writing. I'm focused on listening. I'm learning things I never knew and actually hear my own thoughts with more clarity. Still scrambling to stay more open eared. Talked to a Korean airlift adoptee about her experience. Which is to say I listened. Fascinating woman, lots of insight. She's a narrative therapist.

  To DA or not to DA, that is the question?

  let me preface this by saying that i don't expect anyone here to make my decision for me.

  i do however note that like the bible says, in the multitude of counselors there is wisdom, and this is a huge decision, so i wanted to put it out there for discussion.

  i really appreciate your words of wisdom, as this affects not just me but my wife also, as we find ourselves in the same boat.

  Hi. I respect your struggle an whatever you do, you are going to be alert for the calls, visits, grocery store awkwardness. Because when you write the letters, you are back on the radar of every busybody JW that you know. And you will have burned some bridges And acknowledged WT authority as mattering to you at all.that would be my sticking point now, along with burned bridges-but I have done that in a different context with people I really value in my life, so I have a different perspective at outset-I actually lost something that mattered to me.

  I'm in favor of not referring to yourself as a jw, live life with no JW constraints that are not of your choice and let chips fall where they will. Any JWs curios, they can ask and you can tell them w/o them getting in trouble.

  The letter might feel satisfying. You could tuck into will to be sent to congregation on your passing. All the satisfaction, no harrassment

  Drivers or companies can be totally out of business with too many violations. It really doesn't take much. They have a great record. Good for the drivers a and maintenance guys.

  If any thing personal was revealed morpheous revealed himself. I like hearing stuff about bethel. It paints a picture. Like not mAny people here have been to Mecca. I have, so it's slightly unique(millions have been, but most most aren't westerners.) Growing up JW, it still has some mystique to me-Bethel, not Mecca!

  If fisherman revealed all TO amorphous and it was repeated, I'd be right with him on his page. No biggie. I'd be happy to hear any stories fisherman or Morpheous want to tell

  I think there is enough money for the elite to hold on. The shakers have about 3 members left and hundreds of thousands in property and assets at least (they use it for educational purposes outside mostly). But the movement is dead. I'd rather a few jerks kept the assets and the movement just petered out from pure boredom.

  just relaxing with my morning coffee enjoying looking at the pictures fipper shared of the camping trip when the dreaded knock came.

  of course the dogs beat me to the door followed by my daughter trying to catch them, she looks through the giant peep hole and waves me away saying "its them.

  " i almost just walked away from the door when i saw the sweet face of a 5/6 year old little boy with his mom and dad and couldn't resist talking to them.. i opened the door and smiled and said jehovah's witnesses?

  Sorry, I know it is inconvenient and annoying but you are the perfect ex JW IMO. Just saying.

  I'm really sorry about your little one. They really do need to be more interested in protecting the sheep than the wolves.

  FISHERMAN: Do you merely TOLERATE being around other JWs that are in good standing? If he had done something wrong, there would be no "toleration" or "good standing". He also wouldn't be concerned with continuing to pioneer if he was not in good standing. They remove privileges when one is not in good standing.

  Yeah, he could be making everything up, but he isn't making up some big crazy dramatic story. This story is just simple and sad.

  I love all the ideas, though a couple have to include the proviso that "and if breaking the law was not a deterrent".

  The big white van outside of convention sites is a really cheap and awesome option. I love it and I think it would be great even if I had to rent the big van.

  i might go to the meeting.

  i stopped going in my heart properly in nov 2013, but i went to a couple of meetings to support a love one that was df'd and tried to teach them a little ttatt.. now another df'd loved one is coming to see me today and will likely encourage me to try and get ri'd, and i want to support her.

  Your relationship with your daughter is still tender. She was blaming you for taking her to kingdom halls, right?. I think that your relationship with her is more critically important than you sitting with friend and rehashing stupidity after the meeting. Support her by letting her rehash and when there is a good reason, ask a question to make HER think. Her telling you what they teach will underline the inanity of it all better than you could with a whole speech.
