  need some help... does anyone here have stories about the former "prophet" of the wts?

  ' i would like to incorporate some stories about him, personality traits, mannerisms, etc.

  Your gut feeling.

  do you follow it, or ignore it?

  what experiences do you have following, or not following it?.

  every now and then, someone posts something that exposes their gut reaction to something, which could be completely opposite to a position previously taken, or taken immediately after posting it.

  I believe there is an entirely separate level of processing going on in our minds all the time. All sensory information gets into the brain, we just filter out what we dont want to perceive consciously based upon our emotional state. When my 'gut' is telling me something, its usually in the opposite direction of what my conscious perceptions are telling me to do, and in retrospect, the 'gut' is usually correct, since its based on a deeper level of analysis, free of our emotional biases. I think the primary motivational force behind this is a basic survival instinct that needs to operate at all times, thus, most messages from the 'gut' are warnings and red-flags about people, situations, etc.

  Pictures of Paradise

  my wife made a comment today about all the pictures of paradise and how none of them ever show the inside of a house.

  they are always the same pictures of people outside playing with lions and water in the background.

  someone was talking in another post about how hard it is to make the simplest items.

  Self Pity and other worthless emotions.

  I agree about self-pity. Self-pity is merely the consequence of irrational fear....fear to take the necessary actions to correct a situation.

  Guilt, on the other hand can serve an important 'self-corrective' mechanism, I believe there are certainly times in my life when feeling guilty about my actions served to negatively reinforce me from doing them again. The guilt, however, needs to be self-imposed by your own mind, and not based on irrational fears of divine punishment. I should only feel guilt if I have genuinely hurt a living, human being.

  I once met Franz backstage at the Norval assembly hall in Ontario, Canada. I was 9 years old and was waiting to go onstage for one of those "happy JW family" routines with a couple other kids and their parents. Franz was giving a special talk right before this. By this time, he was almost totally blind, he gave his talk completely by memory, and had that classic, old-school bombastic speaking style. He came backstage after the applause and I guess somebody directed him towards us because he approached us. Someone explained to him we were on next. Then we each shook his hand, he didnt make eye contact because he was blind by that point, but as he was leaving he said "have fun out there kids" and hobbled off. He seemed pretty shy and withdrawn in person, but maybe he was just so exhausted from the talk.

  That was my "big" Fred Franz moment.....pretty anti-climactic!!
