Honestly, pretty much every so-called "misconception" that non-JWs have about dubs, is completely accurate.

One word: FRUMPY
While the younger dubs typically do try to look somewhat stylish, particularly those between 16-19, who are actively seeking a marriage mate before the age of 21 (LOL), the typical dub automatically becomes a FRUMP after the age of 25.
For men, this look includes short sleeved dress shirts, polyester ties and "pleated pants", which of course, went out of style in 1994.
For women, this look includes very long skirts, and a blouse that dare not reveal even a hint of cleavage.
For both, a haircut that has cost less than 8 dollars, and a phoney grin.

GIs describe comrades killing blindfolded Iraqis
U.S. soldiers testify during military hearing of 4 troops accused of murder
Updated: 8:42 a.m. ET Aug 3, 2006
TIKRIT, Iraq - Two American soldiers Thursday described in gruesome detail how their comrades allegedly killed three blindfolded Iraqi detainees, one of whom was covered in brain matter and another who spit blood during his dying moments.
The soldiers testified during a military hearing to decide if the four soldiers should face a military court-martial on murder charges for allegedly killing the Iraqis after detaining them in a house on May 9 near Samarra, 60 miles north of Baghdad.
Cpl. Brandon Helton testified that he was the last man off the helicopter that brought a group of soldiers to a marshy island outside Samarra in search of suspected al-Qaida operatives. By the time he reached the house, the Iraqis had been detained, he said.
He said he saw detainees fleeing before they were shot. When he approached, some of the detainees had their blindfolds down and were “running at full sprint.” At that point, the soldiers fired.
“The first one fell flat down and the second one, whenever he got shot, it was kind of like what you’d see in a movie where he spun around and landed on his back,” Helton said. “I seen one spitting up blood.”
The four accused soldiers — Pfc. Corey R. Clagett, Spc. William B. Hunsaker, Staff Sgt. Raymond L. Girouard and Spc. Juston R. Graber — initially said the detainees were killed because they tried to escape, but military prosecutors have said they were freed before being shot.
The shootings have dealt another blow to the reputation of U.S. soldiers in Iraq and fueled anger against the coalition presence. U.S. troops have been accused of a string of civilian deaths in Iraq, including the alleged massacre of dozens in Haditha. Another hearing is scheduled this weekend for soldiers allegedly involved in the rape and killing of a 14-year-old girl.
'Kill all military-aged males'
Earlier in the hearing, another witness, Spc. Micah Bivens, recalled hearing the shots fired during the mission, but said he did not see the soldiers fire.Bivens said as he approached, he knew immediately that two were no longer living based on their wounds. Referring to one victim, he said: “There is no way that he could have been alive considering there was brain on the ground.”
Bivens said he never heard a discussion among the accused of a plan to kill the detainees. He also said he doesn’t recall brigade commander Col. Michael Steele ordering the soldiers to “kill all military-aged males,” as others in the unit have alleged.
At least one of the accused has said orders from Steele were to “kill all military-aged males” on the day of the mission. Several witnesses offered variations to the order in testimony, including restricting fatal shots to only those who failed to surrender.
Steele, who led Army Rangers during the 1993 battle for Mogadishu in Somalia, has denied the allegations. He declined to speak to reporters about the charges.
Girouard, Hunsaker, Clagett and Graber could face the death penalty if the case is passed on for a court-martial. They are accused of concocting a story to justify the shootings and covering it up from military prosecutors.
The first three are also accused of obstruction of justice for allegedly threatening to kill Pfc. Bradley Mason, the prosecution’s leading witness who testified Wednesday.
All are members of Charlie Company, 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division.

Gun owners - 3rd party defense of JW?
by asleif_dufansdottir inmy ccw instructor was not very encouraging about 3rd party defense by a ccw holder.
he said that it was not only risky because too often you (the ccw holder) don't know the whole story and you could make a big mistake.
in addition, there's the risk that you could act in defense of a stranger, only to find out the stranger is horrified by you having a gun, and could say something to the cops that screws you over (even if you've acted within the bounds of the law).. given that the society's published attitude about guns as defense, is that christians "reject magic and weapons as tools of protection," how willing would you be to act in defense of a jw that a) you didn't know [you saw them being attacked on the street] or b) you did know?

U.S.A. A gun loving country that has been saving the worlds ass for more than two hundred years.
Yet another shiny turd dropping from J-1. I wonder Captain America, can you provide A SINGLE piece of evidence to support this dipshit jingoism? Last time I checked the history books, the US has not "SAVED" anyones ass in its entire history. Not that I dont appreciate a "Big Mac" once in a while, but I think the world would have survived just fine in the absence of McDonalds.

I think this is becoming increasingly common. Several of my former dub friends have had the same experience, and some of these cases involved unresolved issues of "gross immorality" LOL. Seems the BOE is far more willing to let things slide these days. An overall symptom of the malaise, boredom and general apathy of the R+F.

ALL man-made religious institutions are corrupt and teach hate and superiority over others to their members and are used for man to dominate other men, and we will not have true peace until all of these are done away with and mankind learns to love everyone as they love themselves....Lilly
Lilly, you have made the most logical and thoughtful comment on this entire thread. Thank you.

Life did not arise from 'non living matter?'
by Gill inseptember's awake mag, discusses evolution.. on page 20 it makes the claim that' (the bible), does not support the idea that life arose from nonliving matter or that god started off the process of evolution with a single cell.'.
however, if i remember the account of creation in genesis, god created adam from the 'dust of the ground'.
am i mistaken here, or could the wtbts be confused?

Depends what the original word for "dust" was that was written in the Aramaic text. "Dust" may just be a poor English translation of a word with
a different meaning, but I have no idea of the original linguistics of this scripture.
Incidentally, "dust" as we know it, is teeming with living microorganisms, bacteria, cellular debris, etc.

These are all incredible cities, but the larger ones, like Rome, Paris or London, require at least a week to see the important sites and museums.
