There is no such thing as Agnosticism. Agnostics do not exist!

    by nicolaou in

    2. beliefs

many here seem to believe that the position of agnosticism is somehow more reasonable than theism or atheism.

    nonsense!

it is a misconception to believe that belief or non-belief in the existence of god/s are the two extremes which glare at each other over the fence of agnosticism.

"Kid-A if you have reached a conclusion in this regard I think that you are the one that has become intellectualy lazy. I think that there is much evidence that even you have not examined yet."

Alas Jimbo, regrettably, I simply do not view a willful state of static ignorance to be reflective of intellectual rigour. Having said that, I would be delighted if you would present your "evidence" for god that I have apparently, in my heathen ignorance, overlooked!

I anxiously await the presentation of your evidence for God (be it Jehovah, Zeus, Thor, Artemis, Ra, Neptune, Allah, Buddha, Vishnu, etc etc), the Tooth Fairy, Santa Clause, Peter the Rabbit or any other hypothetical being you care to focus on. I am dying to see the evidence I have missed all these years! Do tell!

If You Don't Believe In Jehovah's Organization You Can't Believe In Jehovah

so said my brother to my mother the other day while she was in the hospital.

he asked her why i wasn't coming back to the "truth".

she suggested that i wanted to enjoy a worldly life of fun.

"You can't say that you believe in Jehovah if you don't accept His Organization."

Sounds correct to me. The "god" "Jehovah (tm) " , the spiteful, evil, vengeful overlord of the universe, set to murder all NON-JWs at Armageddon, IS the creation of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Corporation.

If you want an alternative god to worship in place of Jehovah without infringing on Watchtower copyright, feel free to use my trademark brand: "Jehoobie". (but I receive a 5 cent royalty from each transmitted prayer...LOL...)

"The men here do not have too much body hair. Especially on there chest and face. So when they saw all my chest hair, the started touching it like I was from a freak show. So I have 2 or 3 officers, pulling and picking on my chest hair. This isn’t the first time I have encourted friendly touching so I just went with it. Basically any hair outside of your head you can touch as a sign of friendship. (Mom, Jordan, Kaleigh, Rheem, and D2) you’ll appreciate that. So I nice witness was given to these men, and nothing was stolen and we exchanged cell phone numbers."

Finally, we figure out the REAL reason he is in Indonesia! LMAO! I wonder if he engaged in any "friendly touching" whilst distributing his tracts? LOL......Nice he could make "friends" with the nice policeman and got his cell number after the mutual chest hair stroking....YIKES!!!!...

this has nothing to do with whether i love my wife.

i always will.. pragmatically, i have come to the devastating conclusion that i don't want to be married to a jw.

any jw.. she asked me last night, "so, do you believe in santa clause, now?

While I cant even imagine being in such a situation, I like the thought exercise that Sad Emo suggests.

In addition, I think its a question of how much of her "JW" identity is simply a mask, versus an integral and ingrained part of her being and personality. There are so many different "degrees" of JWism, the amount of hope that can be offered for reaching some compromise depends solely on this question.

I think there comes a point when the "JW" becomes indistinguishable from the underlying human being and that is the danger zone. However, if the JW identity is still relatively "surface" level, there is a good chance not only for reaching a reasonable detente, but perhaps even freeing them from the JW mindset.

    "Keep on asking"

    by Jeffro in
    1. watchtower

i was thinking about luke 11:5-9, and how it really is bad, bad advice.. instead of encouraging individuals to ask for something, and then have the faith that things will work out for the best - though not necessarily as they may want - the particularly poor advice of this passage not only condones a selfish attitude of pestering god/others until they get what they want, but when put into practice, it also encourages anxiety induced by expectations of unfulfilled hopes..

"but dont our kids ask for things we CANT give them we KNOW by experience it wont do them any good....."

And this is the level of intellectual maturity we should be striving for?! When I was a kid, I used to follow my mom around the store begging for toys, one after the other. Eventually I matured to the point where I realized I was not going to get everything I asked for and more importantly, I did'nt simply deserve things without putting in some effort.

Humans must learn the same lesson. The power is INSIDE the human mind, not outside. Ask yourself for the power and wisdom and "ye shall receive". Asking favours of non-existent sky-gods will simply lead to a lifetime of unfulfilled dreams and denied requests.

i had a very hard time accepting what i have learned about her.

she has a gift she has kept from the world until she was in her 30's.

"The jury is still out. The possibilities are still there. "

Big deal Jimbo. The possibility that little green men control the universe is still there. The possibility that purple unicorns and green elephants exist is still there.

Anything is a possibility. A possibility without PROOF or unbiased verification.....is meaningless. I could tell you I predicted 9-11, I could tell you my wife has dreams

about the winning lottery numbers, I could tell you the world will end in 2034. In short, I could TELL you anything. If you believe me without proof, you are either a knave or a fool, and no better than the JW

believing the nonsense written in the Watchtower. Instead of accepting "stories" without verification or proof, try using some critical reasoning skills and lose the JW mindset. Pretty sad that Abaddon was the

only person on this thread that appeared capable of doing so.

    A question for Atheists

    by Sam87 in
    1. jw
    2. friends

just a quick question to the atheists on this board, i was just wondering if any of you have had any supernatural experiences?

for example the same thing that we wouldve called demons as jws?

if so has this changed your views on atheism?

"have any Atheists had these in the past say when they were a JW? how do you exsplain them?"

No, and as for other JWs and/or non-JWs that I knew that did claim to have had such encounters with "demons" ; they usually got the psychiatric help that they needed and received treatment for their psychosis and delusions.
