Have You Ever Met A "Celebrity" or Actually See One Face To Face?
by minimus inwhile i was in new york i walked by two men and one looked like the comedian jackie mason whom i adore.
i looked at him and said, "i just wanted to say how much i enjoy your shows.
i've seen you perform a number of times".

I met Prince Charles when he visited my University in Toronto. He wasn't pretentious at all, but rather very witty and charming.

Does A School Yard Bully Attitude Take Over This Discussion Board?
by The wanderer in<!-- .style1 { font-family: arial; font-size: 18px; } .style2 { font-family: arial; font-size: 16px; } .style3 { font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; } .style5 {color: #0000cc} .style6 {color: #000000} --> does a school yard bully attitude take over this discussion board?growing up, i can recall such times when a rival would want to pick a fight .
with me and when we met, he would bring along two of his friends and i .
sometimes, i would knock their block off and sometimes, it was the other.

To answer the original question: no.
I certainly have never seen instances of "ganging" up on a particular poster by some well-coordinated alliance of other posters. Ocassionally, a malicious troll will appear that needs to be smacked down, and, like any effective immune system, such an invading organism will be attacked on a healthy board.
Having said that, over the years I have been here, I have just as often found myself taking sides with 'religious' posters, as I have with 'atheist' or 'agnostic' posters. It depends entirely on the context of the thread. For example, in the realm of political discussion, there are atheists here whose political opinions I despise, and religious people whose political opinions I agree with, thus again, it depends entirely on context.

Why 6 Billion People Deserve to Die in Armageddon
by Leolaia injehovah is such a righteous, merciful, loving god -- slow to anger, overflowing with loving kindness and blessing.
yet it somehow bothers many of you that he will shortly execute his judgment on mankind and wipe out 99.9% of the world's population, as if that somehow is supposed to conflict with his loving qualities.
personally, i have no idea why many of you feel this way.

Professor Viinny writes: "Now ATHEISTS, I have addressed your questions. It is time for you to answer mine."
Um, no. You have not addressed a single question because you have no answers capable of transcending the bullshit permeating your brainwashed fundy mind. What you are, is a TURD POLISHER, and a lousy one at that.....................
Professor Vinny writes: "Please tell those following this thread just how these very complicated systems in the universe and the earth, along with all life forms upon the earth ORIGINATED. Just how did they START?"This is simply absurdist, circular logic you are spewing. Complicated by whose standards? They are complex because you perceive them as such from a limited psychological perspective. In any case, your POINT IS MOOT. You propose some mythical god-creature creating these same elements OUT OF NOTHING, and cannot even postulate an explanation for the "origin" of your fantasy, supernatural being, for which you have ZERO evidence, save for your ridiculous, emotional arguments and "special pleading".
Professor Vinny writes: "If Science cannot create life, from non-living matter, in a controlled, scientific environment, nor give life BACK to a dead person or animal (though having all the parts needed right in front of them),
Completely ridiculous analogy. Science is not the entity "claiming" to have "created" life. Science is a method of inquiry, but since I doubt you are educated beyond the 5th grade you probably have not covered any philosophy of empirical reasoning in your educational career. Why cant scientists "give back" life to a dead person? Gee, moron, do ya' think it just MAY have something to do with the fact that a dead cell and its molecular machinery DISINTEGRATES within seconds of death? And no, scientists do not "have all the parts needed in front of them"...are you really that ignorant of basic biology? Do you think you can pick up mitochondria with a pair of tweezers and pop it into a dead cell to bring it back to life? Most 3rd graders understand this level of biology.
Professor Vinny writes: "then how could all these very things come to exist without ANY intellectual force behind them at all? Just FELL into place?"
And yet, you seem to be able to continue posting on this board "without ANY intellectual force" propelling you, so maybe miracles DO happen? LOL...............
And your Corvette analogy? Arguably the most stupid "pro-creationist" load of tripe I have ever heard.....The Watchtower could not have done a better job with such contrived, idiotic logic.

Some of Jerry's more inspired moments......
See ya Jerry, lucky for you Anne Coulter is here to carry on your legacy of hate.
On Sept. 11:"The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way—all of them who have tried to secularize America—I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen.' "
On AIDS: "AIDS is the wrath of a just God against homosexuals."
On homosexuality: "I believe that all of us are born heterosexual, physically created with a plumbing that's heterosexual, and created with the instincts and desires that are basically, fundamentally, heterosexual. But I believe that we have the ability to experiment in every direction. Experimentation can lead to habitual practice, and then to a lifestyle. But I don't believe anyone begins a homosexual."
On Martin Luther King Jr.: "I must personally say that I do question the sincerity and nonviolent intentions of some civil rights leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Mr. James Farmer, and others, who are known to have left-wing associations."
On Martin Luther King Jr., four decades later: "You know, I supported Martin Luther King Jr., who did practice civil disobedience."
On public education: "I hope I live to see the day when, as in the early days of our country, we won't have any public schools. The churches will have taken them over again, and Christians will be running them."
On the separation of church and state: "There is no separation of church and state."
On feminists: "I listen to feminists and all these radical gals. ... These women just need a man in the house. That's all they need. Most of the feminists need a man to tell them what time of day it is and to lead them home. And they blew it and they're mad at all men. Feminists hate men. They're sexist. They hate men; that's their problem."
On global warming: "I can tell you, our grandchildren will laugh at those who predicted global warming. We'll be in global cooling by then, if the Lord hasn't returned. I don't believe a moment of it. The whole thing is created to destroy America's free enterprise system and our economic stability."
On Bishop Desmond Tutu: "I think he's a phony, period, as far as representing the black people of South Africa."
On Islam: "I think Mohammed was a terrorist. I read enough of the history of his life, written by both Muslims and non-Muslims, that he was a violent man, a man of war."
On Jews: "In my opinion, the Antichrist will be a counterfeit of the true Christ, which means that he will be male and Jewish, since Jesus was male and Jewish."
