This year I am doing ALL my x-mas shopping online! Cant handle the "mall" culture this time of year!! LOL
ll of us grew up watching and enjoying the antics of.
donald duck.
we laughed as he slowly but surely lost.
However, what about the rule thou shalt not kill? That's a different kind of rule. That is a rule that applies to human beings because the taking and giving of life is not our prerogative so it is immoral for us to do that. But the taking and giving of life is God's prerogative, so it is not immoral for Him to exercise the same thing. He can give and take life at His whim, if that's what it amounts to, because He is God.
What a sickening, disgusting load of rotting TRIPE. Wow, what brilliant logic! god can do what he wants because.......(drum-roll please!!!) HE IS GOD!!!!!! Holy Be-Geezus its all so clear to me now!!! god can kill at his whim because it his PREROGATIVE !!! It would require profound brain damage to accept the moral absurdity of this pitiful excuse of an apology!!
Is that the best you've got?????? Essentially what this nonsense amounts to, is the "group think" of brain-washed masses worshipping a dictator....how pitiful.....
i just unsubscribed from a crafting newsletter that i have been receiving for a couple of years.
all along, i have been willing to overlook the "uber-christian" leanings because they offered some neat things like free fonts and cute scrapbooking ideas.
but today they had a feature called "customer spotlight" that just irked the heck out of me:.
Job had his oxen and camels stolen, sheep burned from the sky, and family killed in an unfortunate structural failure of the oldest brothers house. first thing Job does is he gets down on his knees and praises God (Job 1:13-21)
Ah yes, another one of gods "blessed imbeciles".......Praise god? I would have kicked him in the arse.
i've always wondered this.
does anybody have first hand information if they do and how much, or is their service sort of like when co comes and goes along to book studies to give "encouragement".
or even more so, do they stand with magazines on street corners?.
Given that most of them are well into their 90s it seems unlikely...its extremely difficult rolling these iron lungs down the street and getting them to the doorbell....
the bible is a serious book.. and the bible is a set of instructions set before mankind.
i believe being disfellowshipped the second time here makes me feel upset.
it would make anyone hurt frustrated or mad.
There is no logic in being angry at a book written by humans. The book in and of itself is blameless, just as there is no point being angry at the Koran or Torah or any other so-called "holy" book that is twisted and distorted by selfish, arrogant humans to promote their own evil agendas to control and manipulate their fellow man.
The bible as we know it is really 2 books, artificially put together. The old testament is really just a collection of ancient myth and parable describing the history of a group of barbarians known as the "israelites" and the second book describes an interesting philosopher whose words and teachings were then distorted by his disciples.
well friends things had bad going very well for my wife recently.
she had been looking a the wts critically for quite some time now.
we would have daily discussions on how so many things didnt make sense.
Dear Mrs. Gringo:
I greatly empathize with what you must be going through right now. I have been there myself. We all pass through a phase leaving the JWs when our mind is in a fierce state of denial. It enters a "self-preservation" mode where we will grasp at anything to salvage all the delusions and fantasies that the watchtower organization fed us all those years to control our minds. This is a normal reaction. But please realize, even though these "feelings" are real, they are not based on any concrete reality. There are no demons, no supernatural forces that can harm you....these are bogeymen invented by religion to try to enslave our minds and hearts. Anybody who tries to use these illusions to gain control over you is not acting out of love, they are acting out of a desperate attempt to maintain their power and control over you.
The guilt you are feeling is not justified, these feelings are just your minds reactions to the illusory boundaries that the JWs have established in your mind. Again, this is not real.
All that is real is your LOVE for your husband and children....that is eternal....the watchtower organization and its mind control techniques can and must be conquered. I wish both of you great success in whatever path you choose.
i realize this is totally context and culturally dependent, but the old toronto jw youth scene was quite wild during the years 1984-1994. .
one example, a group of about 40 jw kids would go up to a ski resort (usually mount st.louis/moonstone or blue mountain) over the x-mas week-end.
one year we rented out a block of rooms in a resort close to the ski lodge.
geez, sound like us Toronto kids really were the spawn of satan, relatively speaking!! LOL
irrational naturalism (#201) .
by henry morris, ph.d. .
abstract .
There's no reason to make up or trust untested, unfalsifiable reasons when perfectly fine physical ones exist.
Precisely! And this is the question that I keep asking myself reading this thread....what is the motivation for the theist to ascribe supernatural causes (or extra-dimensions, etc) to explain some experience? Does this somehow enrich the experience ex post facto???
Ultimately, we will simply be talking in circles. However, I suspect there is an underlying emotional need to describe some particular experience in "supernatural terms" rather than purely physical ones. Is there a neurobiological basis for religiosity? Yes, indeed!!!
