this isn't a negative observation at all, but i've noticed with all the new people here, there are a lot of things i remember being said before being said again.
some of the things i assumed when i first came here, many are doing again...and it's very interesting to watch.

What the watchtower apologists dont seem to get is that they just "reinforce" our reasons for leaving the borg by illustrating and reminding us of how our own psychological barriers and defenses operated when we were still brainwashed. Same goes for the non-jw x-tian fundamentalists.....

There is no reason to provide evidence "against" the biblical Eve because there is no evidence for a biblical eve. I could make the argument that there is as much evidence that "Zeus" is the present god of the universe and that he was created by Kronos! You are just relying on a single piece of "cultural" literature. There are probably hundreds of thousands of creation myths from every corner of the earth, each of them completely unique and completely believed (at one time) by the cultures that invented them.
Science transcends these culturally biased assumptions and proposes a hypothesis that can either be proven or disproven by the dependent variable. Religion is entirely enmeshed in the specific "cultural" domain from where it arises and is dictated by those constraints. You begin with the assumption that gods existence is a fact. Science takes no position either way, because god as a theory is entirely unfalsifiable.

Did you know that "Scientists" have proven through DNA studies that ALL mankind decended from a single woman (and I don't mean one who wasn't married)?
Again, if you had actually taken the time to UNDERSTAND the implications of this study, you would realize this was NOT referring to some ridiculous notion of an "Eve" frolicking about in the garden of Eden. THis was a study based solely on the transmission of mitochondrial DNA present in a POPULATION of early humans about 150,000 years ago in Africa. If anything, this completely disproves the biblical account of creation. One who wasn't married? WTF??? I dont recall adam and eve having a formal wedding celebration in the biblical fairytale! LOL

There are so many holes in the theory of Evolution it is basically a religion for scientists who won't consider a Creator.
This is complete nonsense and standard creationist tripe. There is so much overwhelming evidence to support evolution at the genetic, anatomical, anthropological and phylogenetic fields of research it would fill 10,000 text-books. If you dont have a DOCTORAL degree in ANY of the above mentioned fields (or at least have seriously studied these fields with an open mind) then you dont have a CLUE what you are talking about. You are just living in terror at the prospect that your concept of a "god" is just a cherished delusion and psychological anesthesia.
Science will continue and advance (and yes, my research will still get funded) regardless of bible-thumping loonies living in the dark ages....

the wts always propagates the idea that adam was created around 4000 bc and thus the world is 6000 years old and based on this they had set up the 1975 armageddon fiasco where many dubs got ripped off.
what they never say is that this dating is based on the hebrew masoretic text, there is however an older version of the old testament "the greek translation of the seventy" which for all we know may be the correct one and which makes mankind 7500 years old with adam created around 5500 bc.
not only this agrees better agrees with archaeological discoveries but it was also used by luke to write jesus's genealogy in his gospel.

Yes, that is not surprising given that man was NOT created, but evolved over millions of years from australopithecines, to homo habilis, to homo erectus, to cro-magnon, with many other species splitting off in the process. Sadly, the brains of creationists have not evolved beyond single-celled amoebas!!

I think it depends on why somebody left. I largely left because I could no longer believe in all the silly, superstitions and supernatural crap that is the central core of ALL religions.
I simply realized that religion and relying on supernatural delusions is nothing more than psychological anesthesia. It boggles my mind how anybody having experienced the JWs could still fall for organized religion or the belief in a vengeful, hateful x-tian god (the same one that is described in ALL translations of the bible).
Its sad people need to substitute one drug with another......
i was listening to the god channel yesterday and was really surprised to hear the speaker talk of the original sin "sex" between adam and eve.
i thought only the catholics believed that, how do christians come to that conclusion.?.
i know there are christians on this board so if you can answer it, im very interested in it.. is it only the jws who believe it was disobedience ?.
