  i have been looking around for a while....some real intellects around here, also fun, humorless, sincere, lost, hurt......all walks of life, huh?

  this is my first time joining in, and i was just wondering if anyone went totally wild after leaving the truth?

  i know i went overboard...sex, drugs, and more sex.

  Feeling a little low again

  lots of ups and downs in my life......... and when my mom helps me with things i can't do on my own, even though i'm assured it's not simple charity but done out of love, i feel guilty.

  i was self-sufficient from age 16. now i am nearing 34 and can barely do anything without assistance.

  it's very difficult losing everything (money, car, job, use of limbs, fiance, etc) in the span of less than a year.

  Hey BillyJean, welcome to the board! You sound like fun!

  I was born and raised JW but faded out and was never baptized. I probably should have gone a little more buck wild, but I was pretty tame even after I left.....especially since I was enjoying my university education in complete freedom! Ironically, some of the wilder partying and "sinning" that I did was with active JWs!! LOL

  A Perspective on Judgement

  i ran across this excerpt a long while ago from the world's last night, an essay by cs lewis about the apocalypse.

  in it lewis gives a very interesting perspective on the concept of god's judgement.

  it's very different from what jws and many christians (or other religions) think about judgement.

  My favourite scripture. Someday humanity shall see beyond the illusory judgements of an illusory god, stand back, and render judgement upon the god we have created.

  could the watchtower and the jehovah's witnesses survive the discarding of their 1914 doctrine?

  the doctrine that in 1914 the end of the gentile times took place, jesus took up rule in heaven.

  for some reason the jws think the outbreak of world war i in 1914 is proof their prophetic calculations were correct.

  ever since i stopped going to the meetings, i feel so free and liberated!

  i've been a witness my whole life up to this point and never could imagine how this could have felt!

  no more guilt trips, verbal spankings and phony superficial relationships.. they try to scare you into thinking that if you dare leave jehovah's organization tm, your life will be a barren wasteland, be overcome by satan, turn into a drug addict and never find joy and meaning in your life again.
