i have toyed around with the idea of finding fellow df'd ones for about a year now.

i recently got married, and of course it has made me look at how it feels like i gave up one life for another.

the only member of my family who is a jw is my mother- and it kills me that we pretty much no longer have a relationship.

i remember hearing comments like " yes he's a lovely bro, but he'll not be used by the cong because he needs to shave his beard".

AWAKE!, Watchtower," and Book titles that lie

"the bible - a book for all mankind".

all of these title make it sound as if the world in general will oneday experience these things and not to worry.. the fact of the matter is.....jehovah's witnesses don't believe this at all.

They all lie, are designed to scare, intimidate and control masses of confused people. Love the book title jokes.

Looked forward to it - didn't know "new light" theory

in 1983 the witnesses came to my door and assured me, with publications, that "this generation who was there at 1914 "would not pass away" - indeed they pushed it, trying to scare me into witnoidism if nothing else.

at the time i do remember thinking, "oh well, it's the end of them when they get that egg on their face" .

but i didn't know about the "new light" lying recovery technique - maybe i wasn't "as wise a serpent", or rather "thinking like a snake".

Its staggering how the light could have been so dark in the first place, considering that they are actually gods prophet here on earth. Even more staggering is so often the "light that gets brighter" is just as dark as it was in the first place.

Reverse Paranoia

jehovah's witnesses have a kind of reverse paranoia: they believe everyone else is out there and that satan is out there and satan's minions are out there with only one goal in mind: to make dubs be happy.

it scares the heck out of them and they're afraid someone might actually succeed!

Its a great point, who is making you happy? Jah or Satan? Are there any genuine happy JWs in the world, sure they say they are happy but under that "Kingdom smile" there seems to quite a high incidence of deppression among the throngs. But with such a state of conflict as to who is making them happy and whether or not they should be, its not supprising.

Getting divorced from my husband

well, we've been having a lot of problems, and we've decided to get divorced.

i hope some of you can help me understand the teachings regarding this issue.

If he cant work out, that the bible doesnt go into such in depth detail as regards a divorce, and that the WT have such lengthy guidlines as to where, what, why's and when's of such matters according to the JW "seperation" policy, does it really sound like true christianity? Realality of the matter is its over, nobody hates eachother, and you both want to move on with your lives. Never start telling the elders any details whatsoever. They kinda get of on sexual exploits, and like to know sordid details to work out if "pornea" has taken place. Just help your husband see that life changes and the great thing about humans is we dont need "morality police" to define right from wrong. Technically under their laws he wont be able to re marry unless one of you do the deed. My mum and dad have wasted 12 years of their lives trying to wait out the other on this issue as they are seperated, but yes still active JWs. We're not suppossed to live this way!
