I really appreciated what you said here AuldSoul...
"Even allowing that I don't think outside JW-land should reflect "oneness of spirit" in the sense that it is reflected inside, we don't all think the same. We aren't all angry people, we aren't all nice people, we aren't all anything. We are out because we don't squelch diversity. That applies to reacting to accusatory Witnesses who come here as much as it does to doctrinal issues, matters of family life, or discussions of science."
Whereas I was one of the posters that gave what is probably considered a compassionate reply I in no way think that ones 'should' be like me or do as I do. We are all different with different experiences and pasts. I don't consider this site as some type of field service territory just on the other side of the coin. 'Preaching' and 'converting' the JWs to be non-JWs. It just sounds like the same shirt different color. But some do. And so what. We are different that's not necessarily a bad thing.
The negativity is not compatible with me in allot of ways but I can see that just like Left Behind was hurting and acting on that pain, so were allot of the posters. Am I some type of judge to say who is right and who is wrong. Absolutly not!! I tried to put down that judgment rod I was carrying when I left JWs.
To all the people who are still hurting because of JWs and any religion rather they are in it still or not ... may your journey continue to heal you.
i want you to know that you have destroyed a family because of your lies about jehovah and his organization.
a family member went apostate and has turned his back on jehovah.
he told us he is never coming back and i know he went and visited internet sites.
I am sorry for your pain. It is very evident you are hurting.
Maybe you could find it within yourself to love this 'apostate' that's in your family no matter how wrong you may think he/she is. If true unconditional love is shared between the two of you your relationship will stay strong no matter your differences in beliefs.
i work with a guy who sleep with a lot of different woman, and when i say a lot, i mean a lot!
i know what some are thinking, "oh he probably sleeps with a few and makes it sound like more.
" well i would think that too, if i did not actually meet a lot of these woman and work with some of them and they admit to sleeping with him on a regular basis.
My thoughts are who are we to tell another who they can sleep with and how often. If they are consenting adults why not. The guy must be a really good lover and that is hard to find sometimes. I hope they are keeping it safe but beyond that it's their business.
Personally I don't like sex to be too casual. It takes an artist to really do it so that it blows your mind and that takes more then brief encounters for me. But hey when I was younger it was more casual and I don't try to judge myself nor others.
Let's just all have fun living life is my motto.
with the "new" way jw's are expelled from the congregations how would the congregation know who left on their own(disassociated) themselves or was disfellowshipped for "wrongdoing".
when i left the elders told me that they would tell the congregation that i "disassociated"my self and that would be that.
the whole congregation would know that i left on my own and was not expelled for immorality or wrongdoing.
I agree with finally_free on this issue.
it's been a while since this topic has been brought up.
use it as a chance to see if there is someone you might know from years past.

how far from where you grew up do you live now?
did you leave to get away or to take ownership of your life and create a new destiny?
did you leave before or after you figured it out?.
I was raised in it about 60 miles away in a small town north of Dallas, TX (currently reside).
But I have lived as far as Hamburg Germany to get on my own 2 ... if you want to call it - spiritual feet.
quite often we maintain a polite silence about others when we'd really like to tell them to shut the hell up, that they're pompous, or ignorant, or simply a pain in the ass.
"god, i can't stand reading any of his posts.
or, perhaps we really would like to say something really nice about someone, perhaps even a bit personal.
And Dez ... u seem like a really cool dude. Stay just how you are and your 'Lady in Shining Armor' will 'loose her shoe' at your doorstep in no time.

Well Daystar,
I have read some of the comments and everyone seems to know you better then me so I will leave it at that ... but I could relate to the earlier comments of anxiety regarding meeting at an Apostatefest. My first one was last weekend at Hemp's. I was a little apprehensive at first but it turned out to be a great experience. However I can see why a person would not want to start off with a party like that.
So if you want to get just a few of the Dallasite posters to meet up at a Chilli's or something in town for their famous molten chocolate cake with ice cream topper then just let me know. I'll risk my ass getting big for the occasion.
Many Smiles ....
