since, as witnesses, we were not permitted to be a part of the world, i am curious as to which organizations some of you may be members.
might be fun to see in which directions we all went.
also which charities we support.. mine will surprise you - i'm a member of the national coalition of free men, fathers4justiceus and the aclu.
I love the freedom of not belonging.
leaving the society was scary at first but i had to make myself grin and bear it.
i have renewed my relationship with christ and i am looking foward to his wonderful blessings in my future.
now that i am finally worshipping him in spirit and truth and i have the hope of going to heaven someday.
To each his/her own...
I just had to say that OUTLAW's comment made me laugh out loud!! Thanks Dude! I love to laugh!!

Nothing..
someone you would set and listen to their problems and they listened to yours.
they were friends.
but when you left they were gone.
Absolutely. Unfortunately or maybe Fortunately ...
I have learned people come in and out of my life. They serve a purpose for a time/season and when that purpose is completed sometimes that friendship or closeness dissolves. It use to bother me but it doesn't bother me much at all anymore. I have learned that when I try to hold on to people that have already served the purpose for our joining then I just create pain and drama (and allot of times a friendship that is not deep but very conditional). So I just keep my hands open and don't try to hold on to anyone. Love them while they are in my lives and appreciate the time I have with them and embrace change when it comes. Change is Life.
It can be hard though until one gets into the practice of it ... I'm sorry for your loss. *HUGS* I am certain you will have more friendships like that in your life.

do you believe that the authorities should always be trusted?.
in some big cities, it is not uncommon for some police to be crooked.
some cops are known to pull over minorities simply because of prejudice.. in atlantic city, a mayor almost always in under indictment for bribery or some shady dealings.. in florida, it is being reported today in the news that the fire chief snapped pics of a young woman in a horrific accident.
hmmm ... on 'trusting' (as in relying) on people in general .. rather 100% or not (it's very hard for me to think in absolutes)
But I do trust people to be (behave) who they have shown themselves to be (behave). I dont know if that makes sense but ... people show who they are (their patterns of behaviors/beliefs that motivate their actions) rather quickly and pretty consistantly. As long as I am NOT gaging it by the superficial person they are 'trying to be' nor the person 'they may think they are' but am able to see the core of them clearly ... then it is pretty easy to predict behaviors unless they are in the middle of a huge life/belief altering shift.
That info pretty much comes from my intuition/non-judgmental observation/gut (most easily recognized words for it).
Of course I am not referring to strangers but just with people that I am around consistantly.
OK ... so it is $.04. tehehee

My $.02 :-)
People are people no matter what title they may hold. In every situation, quite possibly the best thing to trust is what people call 'your gut'. Your gut will tell you if that particular individual with that title is worthy of being trusted in that moment.

but that's just my $.02
looking back, being a jw meant constantly analyzing and categorizing others.
on field service, persons were either "sheeplike" or "goatlike".
in the congregation it went even further.
yes - very judgemental as a JW. Didn't realize it much. But hindsight is 20/20
no - when I left it was very easy to see people as people. no right/wrong judgement of them just 'is'. even when I decide if I want to hang with a person or not ... me not hanging doesn't mean they are right or wrong, good or bad ~ just means they are not compatible with who I am in this moment. It was very easy to settle into that frame of mind when I left.
