this happened many years ago in my old congregation.. the man, who held the position of a ministerial servant for many years had not long lost his wife in death.. obviously, tensions and the general heartbreak of what happened to him lasted for sometime.

i remember going to see him once and he was extremely depressed.. however, his son had recently moved back in with him and they had started arguing.

his son grassed on him in to the elders that his father had sworn at him in a number of arguments and he was removed as a ms. the rest is history.

Everyone is allowing their disdain for the Society to cloud their thinking on this issue.

If this were any corporation that had confidential material leaked on the Internet you would defend their right to 'suppress' it.

Because it's the Society, and not Coca-Cola for example, all of a sudden they are wrong in trying to protect their intellectual property before it's released.

What Stupid Things Were You Counseled For?

i've always been told that i have a very good personality, that i'm humorous, etc.. one elder called me over and said that i was "smiling too much".

the other elders talked to the elder who counseled me and he came back to say that i should be like i was .

aren't these three related things some of the hardest to explain to interested people?

most jws don't focus on these teachings at first and will instead focus on more appealing bible teachings.

Changing 144,000 to figurative would be very easy to change with barely a ripple as I believe a lot of JWs doubt it's literal anyway at this point.

They'd simply write an article how the light is brighter and because everything else is figurative Holy Spirit has directed them that so is the number of anointed. This would explain this and this and that, etc...

Dropping 1914/607 would stumble many and a lot would leave. Too much has been based on 1914 for too long.
