by Tatiana ini know many here have published books, and i'd like some info about book publishers.
i would really appreciate it if you guys could let me know of any publishing companies that do not charge an arm and a leg, or maybe a company that will read your manuscript, if it is good, and publish for you.

Stupid questions
by millymollymandy inthings i have always wondered about jws but never asked my boyfriend about (because i thought i would sound stupid!)...

are they that much different from other christian weddings?.

- What goes on at JW wedding ceremonies? Are they that much different from other Christian weddings?
I don't know about other Christian weddings but a JW one is a few kind words about the Bride and Groom, then a talk (seminar) about the Bible's marital arrangement, then exchange of vows written by the Watchtower (not allowed to write their own) then exchange of rings, then sign the papers, then announcement they are H and W, then kiss. No outside music or rice throwing allowed.
- And what about funerals, for that matter?
1/2 about the person's life (mostly though about their accomplishment as a JW) and 1/2 a preaching talk (sermon) about the religion.
- At what age are young people considered to be first able to decide whether they get baptised or not?
No age really. The younger the better if they have enough knowledge of JW dogma.
- Are JWs obliged to throw away/burn birthday and Christmas cards and presents that get given to them by unknowing non-JWs?
Not really but I wouldn't display them on my shelf that's for sure!
- I have heard conflicting things about what is supposed to happen to people other religions when The End arrives. What exactly IS supposed to happen to those not in 'the truth'?
Technically, correct me if I'm wrong gang, the "wicked" will be destroyed. Who they will be is sometimes pretty vague in the WT but it is assumed they are non-JWs.
- If JWs don't belong to this world, shouldn't they try to build a spaceship and travel far far away, to a distant galaxy? Or at least to Mars?
JWs do belong to this world. They are not supposed to be "part" of this world (wickedness, spirit, etc.)
HEY, THAT WAS FUN!

Is Smoking the practice of Spiritism?
by freedomfighter inhi guys,.
i was raised as a jw and was baptised when i was 16. i am now 35 and have finally realised that "the truth" is actually the opposite.. my family has a long history of mental illness and i am "lucky" to only suffer deppression and panic attacks.i believe what i was taught as truth has effected me adversely.
e.g " you won't have to go to school son, armageddon will be here before then.

if smoking is drugs and drugs is spiritism, then anti-depressants are also spiritism
So is alcohol (hence alcohol is spritism) and I know MANY, MANY heavy drinkers in the truth. A lot of Elders to boot.
Even know a C.O. who's an alcoholic.
I'm a heavy drinker trying to control it myself and I take a drug (Xanax) to help with the not drinking.
Guess I should organize a Seance this weekend. Anyone wanna come?
Rediculous WT!

SHOULD JWS DRINK CAPPUCHINO?

Way to go badboy.
Along with the following info, we just ruined Saturday morning coffee break for millions!
DoughnutIn the late 15th century, Dutch bakers used to make what they called olykoeks, or oily cakes. These olykoeks were the first doughnuts, although they never had holes in them. They essentially were balls of dough that absorbed a great deal of grease during the frying process.
Now for the origin of the word. In the early 1600s, thePilgrims learned how to make olykoeks and gave them a new name...doughnuts. The new name came about because the little balls of dough looked like walnuts.

Same 'ol, same 'ol.
I remember the Connie Chung thing and everyone in Service discussing how it was all lies.
I guess now that they have actual subpoenaed WT letters from the Court documents they can't say.... No, I stand corrected, Brothers will still say they are all lies.
P.S. Back to Turkey Day NFL!
