I think someone needs to give Crumpet a hard strudeling. (number 1.)
It won't be me, but I'm just sayin'...
(clam here is the promised fluff thread - but you know it will probably degenerate into an intellectual discussion about pagan festivals - like my posts so often do!
so how will you all be honoring the goddess astarte or was it istoreth?
will you be devouring chocolate eggs - with their heavy pagan influences?
i have pondered this question on many occasions.
when i began to have 'doubts' and began to 'question' some doctrine, and particularly the lack of christian love, very little effort was made to 'snatch me out of the fire' as elders are admonished to do.
i have always wondered why we as jw's would spend countless hours trying to start bible studies with 'wordly' people, while at the same time ignoring those who are moving away from dead center of the organization.
"Its like this. Either you believe what the society says or you do not. If you do not, you are an apostate and will be distroyed at armageddon."
Translation: "It's like this. Either you suspend your critical mind and choose to believe this fantasyland of cards the WBTS has built, or you don't and we relegate you to the most evil group of miscreants we could come up with. Apostates, free thinkers, people with a higher degree of honesty and integrity than us."
I really don't understand guys like that one. He probably didn't really believe it all either. How he remained in his position in spite of that, shows a great weakness of character.
i didnt!
but again i was quite young.. i know this stuff has been posted in the past.....but for the heck of it, i wanted to see what others believe cults consist of.....so i googled this.

Just like most groups, and most individuals for that matter, they find the information that seems to support their preferred answer to such a question and dismiss all else as at least incorrect, at worst, directly opposed to them, or they simply ignore the matter entirely.

ex-christian fundamentalist brian fleming shines an unflinching spotlight on christianity and the supposed historical existence of jesus christ, demonstarting that no such man ever existed in history.
rather, the earliest forms of christianity, just as the mystery religions, believed in a spiritual christ--the logos an emanation of god that is the divine reason in man and nature--and a spiritual death and resurrection of the spiritual logos.
the evidence, the logic, and the compelling arguments are simply too much for fundamentalists, so please protect your mind and faith from this video at all costs if you're a fundamentalist.
I agree with Kaput. It's... okay.
i really do hate smoking odors.
i do not really hate pets but i am allergic to them.

I've thought about this before too.
I can, perhaps, understand the WBTS, etc. not putting too much effort in trying to redeem those who've started to fall out or have left due to their finding out about certain... discrepancies. Once your eyes have been opened they can't rightly be shut again.
But what I can't understand is their not trying to recover those who've fallen due to what they consider "immorality" since those people most often still believe all the rest of the crap and would probably come back easily if assisted in a loving way. I know I would have.
Thankfully, they didn't even try with me.
