this is kind of strange, everyday i find a penny, on a parking lot, floor of a store, driveway, or whatever.
yesterday i hadn't found any money, i didn't think about it until i started to get in bed.
I think that she's a crackpot, but Sylvia Brown(pychic) says the same thing. She says that when you keep finding coins everywhere, it's one of your dearly departed ones trying to give you a sign.
I joke to my husband that I have an earring "demon" in the house. I seem to have lost one of many sets of earrings. I have a dozen or so single earrings in my jewelry case without the match. Funny thing is that I remember putting them both in it when I take them off my ears.

Your comments hit home with me. Many times I thought that the various odd negative comments that seemed to flow from some JW's mouths was so contradictory of what a true christian servant of the lord should be. They espouse the fruitage of God's spirt.....love, joy, peace...kindness, yet, too often, cryptic remarks would be the response when kindness would seem to be the obvious and best way to respond to a brother or sister. These cutting remarks seemed to drop off of their lips as they were clueless and uncaring about how they came across. Most peculiar.
I found that humility, which is what you displayed to the CO, was viewed more like weakness and therefore, disrespected somehow. You opened your heart and he seized the opportunity to shoot you down. Again..most peculiar.
well, for the time being anyway.
i'm loading up and heading to denver in a couple of days and probably won't be on the board for a couple of weeks.
be nice to each other and try not to argue too much over sexuality, politics, men's asses, or jesus.

i have always tried to figure out for years what is the reasoning behind the name kingdom hall, any thoughts on this?
Because, as my oldest daughter says..they have to be different about EVERYTHING, to make sure that they stand out as wacko's properly.
the overwhelming amount of gossip that circulated through my kingdom hall was a major factor in my decision to stop attending meetings.
every meeting, every day of field service, and every gathering was plagued with vicious rumors that people told to keep themselves entertained.
surprisingly, the pioneers and elder's wives were the worst of everyone.

I couldn't have expressed it any better than you have here. Yes, gossip was a problem in my old congregation and that was a big part of the reason I decided to begin my exit. Nothing devides people like gossip and JW's have cornered the market on it. It truly is a love killer. I believe that is the reason that very few, if any, real friendships are formed with other JW's, contrary to what the "faithful to excrete" slave portrays about the "love among themselves" speel to the unsuspecting public. Many are paranoid and untrusting of each other because they have learned to be because of gossip. The society promotes gossip by encouraging members to "watch your association"....not JUST in the world, mind you, but in the congregation as well. I think this sets up the environment to freely judge others "out loud", so to speak and to feel justified in doing so. So, you're right. Other's spirituality or lack thereof is open season and entertainment for your basic JW.
Of course, gossip is not absent in other groups or religions and does seem to be a universal human pastime. But JW's spend so much time couped up with each other engaging in meaningless tasks and most are probably miserable people, well...that misery has to come out some way. I knew it was bad when a few sister's I knew moved away and when we spoke on the phone, the whole conversation centered around who in the congr. was going to all the meetings, who was missing them, are they going out in field service, etc.? UGH

being on the outer social fringe of the congregation for 20 years and recently missing quite a few meetings, i was abit surprised to receive an invitation from her.
the invitation is to attend the wedding(only) at the kh without a mention of the reception which i found out is being held at a separate private location afterwards.
Last week I received a wedding invitation in the mail from an elder's daughter whose getting married next month. Being on the outer social fringe of the congregation for 20 years and recently missing quite a few meetings, I was abit surprised to receive an invitation from her. The invitation is to attend the wedding(only) at the KH without a mention of the reception which I found out is being held at a separate private location afterwards. This is the third *wedding ONLY* that I have been invited to by some elder's kid without an invite to the reception. Well...WTF?? Am I supposed to feel honored by these invitations? I remember that the society wrote an article about this years ago saying that it was proper if the couple should choose to exclude some from their reception because of money concerns, etc. and that no one should become offended if not invited to the reception but the ceremony itself is the main focus. What a crock! None of these families had/have money problems. I think it is an excuse to exclude the inconsequential ones in the congregation and those who are not in their elite social circle. It also means that a gift is still required and gladly accepted since you were invited to the wedding. Is it just me or is this one of the most insulting and rude scenerios that they could come up with? Who wants to go to a wedding and then skulk home immediately after as most everyone else heads for the big party?? I think the lesser evil would be to simply not invite the person to either if they're not invited to both. I have never heard of another group of people doing this and I've never been invited to a worldly wedding and not been invited to the reception as well. What a bunch of snobby whacko's. Needless to say, I won't be attending nor will I send a gift. For all I care, they could have saved on the postage and bought an extra petit four for their *exclusive* reception.

so much of jw belief is based on just one or two scriptures, while they ignore the thrust of true christianity!
here are some examples:.
1. the faithful and discreet slave--mentioned once in the bible.
And don't forget that all important scripture in Hebrews about not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together which so obviously means meetings 3X a week. Isn't that self explanatory? Do we REALLY need any other scriptures to prove that??

ok, i am going to play devils advocate and ask the question: are the jw's correct about anything?
surely there has to be something that is commonly agreed upon to be correct.
i am not talking about what current jw's say, i am not talking about simple things like: read the bible, or be a witness.
Okay, I'll bite..
I had to dig deep but there are a couple of things I gained from associating with the JW's. 1. I learned all of the books of the bible in a rather short amount of time. I was impressed with how fast they could find the scriptures and felt imbarrased that I had no clue about the bible other than John 3:16. After studying awhile, I became a quick flipper like them :) 2. For some reason, I took comfort in the fact that I could travel anywhere in the world and if I had car trouble or any kind of trouble, I could call the local KH and get help. I never really put that to the test but I believed that I could and felt that made JW's exceptional.
That's pretty much it..
