Insider reviews of WT publications allowed?
by BornFree inok so i've never been a jw, so i don't have insider experience with this, so let me know what you think.... an aquaintance of mine is an ms in his local congregation, and he recently told me about a "review" that he did of a newly published wt brochure (i don't recall exactly which brochure it was as there are so many stinking borchures...and who cares anyway).
i asked him what the purpose was of "reviewing" the thing, and he told me that the wt always asks for input on their new material.
so he read the brochure, i.e.

Why care about friends left behind?
by ashitaka ina couple of days ago there was a fuenral at the hall for a gentleman who was the grandfather of my former best jw friend.
this was a kind old man, who i had enjoyed talking to; a real sweet guy.. yet, when it came time for the funeral talk, i couldn't bring myself to go.
everyone (including this old gentleman) had abandoned me (besides my family) when i had left the jws (not df'd).

I think that you did the right thing and spared yourself some unnecessary pain by not attending. You can always send a sympathy card to your former best friend, expressing your respect and appreciation for the life of his grandfather. That would be a kind gesture and one you can feel good about without all of the undue stress you would have felt had you gone to the funeral.

How Many Young People That You Knew Are Still Active JW's???
by minimus inmost of the jw young people that i have known are either inactive, irregular, or "out of the truth" completely.
very, very few are still associated as witnesses now.
are there any zealous young people out there anymore??

It seems that all but two JW kids with an unbelieving parent have left my old hall. The ones who have complete JW families are doing a better job of hanging in, naturally. I had one of those kids, an 18 year old, have the audacity to scowl at me, a middle ager, when I saw her at a store recently because I am inactive. I had always thought she was cool and just going through the motions because of her family but evidently not. Like the JW's say...."baby snakes grow up to be big snakes."

SilentLambs on CBS TONIGHT (Tuesday)!
by UnDisfellowshipped ini just wanted to let you know, in case you didn't hear about it yet, that the silentlambs (jehovah's witness child abuse victims) are going to be interviewed tonight on "cbs evening news" (6:30 eastern time; 5:30 central time).. i believe child abuse survivors heidi and amber, and also bill bowen are going to appear on the program, but i am not 100% sure.. i saw the tv commercial for the interview, and the commercial said it was coming on tuesday, april 29th, 2003 on cbs evening news!.
