Okay, I'll bite..
I had to dig deep but there are a couple of things I gained from associating with the JW's. 1. I learned all of the books of the bible in a rather short amount of time. I was impressed with how fast they could find the scriptures and felt imbarrased that I had no clue about the bible other than John 3:16. After studying awhile, I became a quick flipper like them :) 2. For some reason, I took comfort in the fact that I could travel anywhere in the world and if I had car trouble or any kind of trouble, I could call the local KH and get help. I never really put that to the test but I believed that I could and felt that made JW's exceptional.
That's pretty much it..

Update on my parents

princess and i have been posting (a couple weeks ago) about the ongoing 'soap opera' involving my mother, her fall, and where she will live.

three weeks ago, we put her in a group home.

she is nearly 90, and falls a lot, but has an extremely sharp mind, and is a real "going concern".

Hi Mulan,

I think that you are a saint for the sacrifice and love you are extending to your dear elderly parents. Just taking in one parent is difficult and courageous but you kindly take in both. An extremely loving gesture, to say the least.

I haven't read your full story but I can't imagine the elder's interfering with this arrangement in any way. It seems that they would be too afraid that THEY might have to step in and actually help take care of your Mom if they rocked the boat too much. God forbid they have to put their money where their mouth is and tangibly help an elderly sheep. In their hearts, they know you are doing the right thing and doing the best that you can in a difficult situation although they would probably never admit it. If they have the audacity to question the arrangement that you alone have had to come up with, then let them know that you fully expect them, her christian brother's, to actively help provide a better solution. That ought to keep them off your case! Apostate or no apostate, it's simply none of their damn business.

More whitewashing bullarky for the consuming public. Not only have they established a caste system in God's Present Day Visable Organization, JW's can look forward to the new world JW caste system when the *stars of the cong.* will become earthly priests OVER the great crowd for 1000 yrs, blah, blah, blah.....
It's difficult to visualize JW's EVER wanting things to be even steven among the flock, in this system and/or the next if the power were truly theirs.
As a woman, I can't wait to be given my assignment in the paradise. Probably shoveling manure in the barnyard. Can't wait!

Overeating

it is intersting that the bible does not speak specificly about things like smoking, blood tranfusions, etc, which the watchtower will expell its own members over.. yet the bible does speak specificly about over eatingit even goes on to say that such people will not inherit the kingdom.

yet from my experience in the organisation many witnesses would over-eat(few pleasures left when you got your head in a book all the time) and many were clearly overweight and suffering for it!.

this led to all sorts of health problems for them from back trouble to heart disease, yet i never heard of any being dissfellowshiped on the grounds of gluttony/overeating!!.

Most unintentionally funny scene in a movie

in the original superman, where superman sticks the flag back on top the white house, and says "i stand for truth, justice, and the american way"; this never failed (the couple of times i saw it in the cinema as a kid) to reduce the audiences to tears of laughter (in enlgand).. in the blair witch project, where she's doing the "i'm sorry" bit in the super-big-close-up nostril shot; hilarious.. the bit in jurassic park where the lawyer gets eaten; the audience i was with cheered.... .

My daughter's and I always crack up watching "Gone With The Wind". There's several places where we laugh but especially when Scarlett falls down the steps after Rhett taunts her about losing their baby. The way he runs down after her and the accompanying music matches his tiny steps...it's just funny!
Also when Rhett says "Your Shhh-stupid Ashley" in a scene with Scarlett. And most of the scene's with the wimpy Ashley Wilkes gives us a chuckle. He seems to be overacting and so melodramatic throughout the whole movie.
