You are well and truly on the way out, playing on the palm is a definite sign, I wracked up hundreds of games in my last couple of meeting years, offended some people, but others thought i was taking notes.
I really resent my wasted years. I stopped believing at 25 and hung around till 35, and now am disappointed at how gutless i was, especially since life is far better now.

i feel sorry for all the followers.
when i speak to close witness friends, i try to plant seeds..... but no matter how much they agree on me on certain points.... the society is great and individuals are to blame.. i go to meetings, and wind up playing solitaire on my palm pilot secretly to avoid puking at the info.

Amazing story, and I really look forward to hearing the rest. I hope you stick around, and learn from this board how to find happiness. It is most important to realise the error of the WTS doctrine, because it is only once you can shed yourself of thinking the beliefs are correct that you can start to realise that you do not need to feel the guilt that they have forced on you, beaten into you for your entire life.

I graduated from Uni with a B-Com and 2 months later was accepted into bethel (I was regular pioneering whilst at Uni) The put me for 18 months in factory cleaning, and then 2 more years as a waiter. They made quite clear that a person has to prove themselves to be the right type of person and requires a period of time for their personality to be refined, education is not of key importance. It would have taken a few more years before I had any hope of getting into the accounts department, and only if I removed any semblance of personality and independance.

Hi Doof, small world.
Vin is the perfect person for it, smart, great memory, charismatic, one of the best speakers in Aust, and an organisation man through and through.
What I can't figure out is that a lawyer needs to know both sides of a case inside out. Therefore he must know the flaw to the WTS theory that they are God's Organisation. So how does a man like that stay devoted to the WTS. The only answer that I can come up with is that he is scared to face the consequence of admiting to himself he was wrong. In the Watchtower article about him he said he felt the life cycle of marriage, children and death had always seemed meaningless. I imagine he is scared of how he will cope emotionally if he admitted to himself he devoted his life to a con. When I told him recently that I was no longer a JW he said 'I guess you are just struggling along in life now?', to which i told him how great my life is. Many JW's may be mentally smart but are not emotionally strong enough to allow themselves to admit they got mixed up in a lie. -

Well spotted. When I was a kid it used to really annoy me when the paragraph did not give the answer to the question. I used to wonder why the person writing the question did not realise the answer was not in the paragraph. Now I know, a teaching, uh indoctrinating technique.

The magazines do not have to be paid for by the publisher as the WTS can not sell magazines for taxation reasons. However, the Kingdom Ministry has recommended that the publisher should put in a donation for it, and also contribute any donations received by the householder, double dipping. -

I don't think they sign anything, as there is always a risk they will get d/f so the Society would not want to be bound by anything either.
I think they pick a person that is not likely to stray. I personally know Vin Toole, the Aust lawyer. He was a sheep shearer, got married, converted, went on the Circuit for a number of years, was called into bethel and then after a while put through his degree. He had many years as a Circuit Overseer and Bethelite to prove his allegiance to the Organisation before they picked him. They don't just pick some 20 year old that has not proved they are an Organisation man beyond doubt. -

some points of view suggest that at some point all the barriers that prohibit movement between the physical world and the spritual will be removed and that glorified bodies will allow us to materialize and dematerialize at will and to transfer as it were between the various dimensions that exist in our universe and beyond, and in this sense "god brings together all things in christ, both things on the earth and things in the heavens" and also in this sense new jerusalem comes down from heaven and god himself resides with them".. and so in this way also will those who dwell in the heavens enjoy access to the physical world in order to enjoy the whole of creation including the animal world.. .

And why not, the angels could do it prior to the flood, so why not us. Float around playing harps by day and come to earth to get down and dirty by night. -

sure there is things like killing the gb or placing a bomb in the brooklyn bethel but these ways are strongly not acceptable and the jw would think that the great tribulation arrived.... .

We are willing to say it to peoples faces. I have helped deprogram more JW's in the last 6 months than my extended family have managed to convert in 35 years. Now that i don't have to report time I Witness in a truly voluntary way, so make sure ever minute counts. In my last couple of jobs I have made sure that everyone working there knows the truth about the Witnesses. None would ever contemplate being a JW, and many are now trained with what to say to a Witness and can not wait for one to arrive at their doorstep.
What was started as a trickle will turn into a gushing leak, and more and more Witnesses will start to see that the Governing Body do not have God's direction. It is a sinking ship. And regardless of whether those such as yourself wish to abandon ship or not, when you are dieing from old age you will have to wonder if not wanting to view things with an open mind was truly worth it.

I have been thinking about this. Of course the hardcore will not change because they do not want to know truth. They will think it is persecution for Jehovah, missing the point that their persecution is in the name of the WTS. However a large percentage are doubting now and at the right time the right information will sink in.
I was thinking of doing a drop of fliers on car windows. Do it during the final song. The weak leave first, so they are likely to read it before some MS runs out and removes them. Or during the final session of the District Convention. That way it prevents a special announcement warning people not to read it. I was thinking a phrase like
"Why did 1,200,000,000 hours of Witnessing in 2005 result in a net increase of only 81,000 publishers? Why did almost 200,000 people stop being publishers? What are people finding out about the Watchtower Society? If you are having any doubts please find out the other side of the story at www.[whateversiteyouthinkhelpedyoumost]."

Did Anyone Try to Warn You About the WTS?

Never by other JWs, but sometimes at the doors. I met a Russellite once who mentioned the 1925 thing, I had no idea what he was talking about, asked some Witnesses who said it was nothing and that was the end of that.
I was standing at a door once Witnessing and an apostate was driving past. They stopped their car and ran up to me to try the talk to me. Then the householder opened the door. I apologised to the householder and took off.
I eventually just could feel that things weren't right, that is what made me go searching.
A few years ago I was telling a friend some of my concerns. We are both out now, and she said the other day that when I was talking to her she was thinking in her mind "whatever" and it had no effect on her at all. Nothing will sink in until a person has that crisis of conscience to want to see the truth.
