Rudd presents a good face, but behind the scenes is manipulative and narcissistic. He was kicked out for good reason, much of which has been forgotten. In the short time he has been back, he has shown to be unchanged. The longer he waits, the more time for people to realise how much they dislike him.

Will Rudd learn from the lesson of Brown?
by slimboyfat inisn't australian politics fascinating?
having toppled the woman who first toppled him, prime minister rudd now faces the choice of calling an election sooner or later.
it was a similar choice that faced gordon brown in the uk when he replaced tony blair in 2007. gordon brown was remarkably popular at the time, a brief popularity that came out of nowhere and that equally disappeared never to return.

Good Friend of mine gets a response to his letter about Russell...
by confusedandalone inso a good friend of mine who had an issue with the fact that charles taze russell was given the understanding of 2520 and 1914 etc.. and was not of the faithful slave.
he asked how could it be possible that jah would bless someone who was not part of his organization to have such understanding after reading the july 15 wt.
he read me the letter as a way to help me understand and accept the watchtower.

Although Jesus stated the faithful slave would be the channel in the last days it does not mean that JEHOVAH did not use other individuals and groups as channels of communication.
So they are already watering down the new doctrine. Previously, it was said that the slave had continued for 1900 years, with Russell a continuation. However, no one could be proven to be the slave immediately prior to Russell. Now they claim the slave started in 1919, but with a dotted line to other individuals that almost had it right. They are trying to have the best of both worlds.
Russell should be known not for inventing a new American religion but for regenerating the failure of those old apocalyptic millenarian religious ideas!
Very good point. Russell regenerated Miller's prophecy, after Miller walked away from it, admitting he was wrong. Other Adventists did the same, and most have also tried to distance themselves now. There is a limited life span for the 1914 doctrine, as it is not a year that will be of any relevance to people born in the 21st century.

I've been out about 8 years now, with no signs of going back. Breaking free from such a totalitarian group was like a huge weight was lifted from me. Whilst the affects of shunning were at first difficult to cope with, I never once looked back, and have never lost appreciation of freedom from oppression.
It is no exaggeration to say my life is almost perfect. Being lucky enough to live in Australia certainly helps. I have a lovely family, a great fulfilling job, am financially secure and catch a ferry to work with views of the Sydney harbour bridge and opera house. I have a great social life with plenty of friends, most younger and fun. Through my work against the Watchtower, I have spoken with and met many wonderful people all over the world, some that have amazing skills and been truly inspirational.

Open Mind - I'm sure it's just a matter of megabytes. Couldn't be that they don't want rank-and-file JWs to read stuff like that.
Good question. The CD library uses little over half the disk space. Plenty of room to include all those wonderful Awakes and Golden Ages.
Besty, I have updated the scan to include both pages of the article. It can be found at Awake! 1969 May 22 pages 14-15

Had this happened on my doorstep I imagine they would have run a mile. The beauty of this new initiative is that they are a captive audience and other people are watching. ... This really is going to backfire on them. I've noticed the stand appears to be manned by different witnesses each week. I intend to take every opportunity to reverse witness whilst the opportunity affords.
Interesting observation. I remember as a teenager doing informal Witnessing in a market, and having an apostate speak to me. We had a long chat, and he provided me with one interesting piece of information that I never forgot. He would never have come to my door, or me to his, but he was able to speak to me because of my being conspicuous in public.

JW.org passwords
by slimboyfat inwhat are the passwords for on jw.org?
are there different levels of pass?
have the passwords ever been leaked?
-
jwfacts
I would be very surprised if they don't track IP addresses as part of the log in process. If a password gets leaked and a range of IP addresses log in, particularly if it is from different countries, they would be quick to lock down the account. It would be very amateur of them not to have such security in place.

You handled that so well, and the effect of reading it, rather than quoting from memory would have had far more impact. That is likely to leave a significant impression on the girl and help shape how she views Watchtower information and her future.

Do you think that "Born Agains" will eventually abandon the "Hellfire" doctrine?
by booker-t ini have talked to christians for years on this subject and they all seem more confused then ever.
some born agains have a hard time reconciling hellfire damnation with jehovah's loving personality.
the two just can't mix.

A number of religions no longer teach hellfire. It is totally illogical that a few years of wrongdoing on earth would relegate you to eternal torment, particularly when we are born sinners to start with. As education improves around the world, and the internet allows dissection of belief, hellfire will disappear from most religions.

What an awesome video. Very balanced.
We know it's just some dude in the Service Department with a rubber stamp that approves whatever the local jerkoffs and the CO recommended. So it's only reasonable that some quantity of criminals will get approved to serve as elders. The important thing is that in legal terms, none of that stuff that WT says about SkyDaddy, the GB, and the Holy Spirit having any responsibility for the appointment of child molesters.
Billy - Brilliant. Really spot on. To the media, the Watchtower basically admits it too. Yet the average JW is led to believe there is a miraculous appointment of elders, personally approved by the Governing Body.
