It is hardly a prophecy, Perry. There have always been atheists, as shown in Psalms.

There are quite a few threads on JWN discussing the overlapping generation. Also see http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/generation.php.

"Jehovah ALWAYS had/used an organization". How would you reply?
by EdenOne inin a recent meeting with elders, an argument was used to the effect that jehovah has always [= throughout history] used, or operated through, an organization; therefore, the wts must be that organization today, since god must be using one.
naturally, i know what arguments i've used to counter that argument.
but i'm interested in hearing yours.

What was the organisation between Adam and Noah. What organisation did Lot belong to? In what way was God using the Jews as his organisation after the end of the kings and before Jesus. Who represented the organisation between the death of the Apostles and Russell, see Always been Jehovah's witnesses? Biblical history shows Jehovah has rarely used an organisation.

Putting Things into Perspective
by startingover13 insome time has passed since my disfellowshipping, and even more time since i've been to a meeting.
with the stress of finally moving out, university, and work issues, i haven't had much time to reflect on my past life as one of jehovah's witnesses and what it really meant.
as i left my hometown on the bus yesterday evening, i finally had some "chill" time.

I hadn't cultivated a relationship with God at all, but with an organization.
I think the magazines are to blame for that. Watchtower is so paranoid about people being part of their organisation, and promote that so incessantly, that a relationship with God becomes second place.

"Peace and Security"!!!! JW.ORGs best and last chance for fulfilment.
by scotoma inin the old revelation book there was a section on the cry "peace and security.. "14 in recent years, politicians have used the phrase peace and security to describe various.
human schemes.
or was paul referring only to a specific event of such dramatic proportions.

A declaration of peace right around the Memorial (April 14) would certainly be a tempting trap for JW's to feel the Destruction of
Babylon The Great is at hand. This will be their final test. If some catastrophic event follows a
declaration of peace in the middle east JWs will have the next 100 years to claim their prophetic
role.It is irrelevant, and is not going to have a 100 year affect. 1986 was the world year of peace and we got all excited, yet most JWs now know nothing about it. JWs, like all doomsday cults, pick up on any event to fuel their fire of expectation. Every year has a disaster of some sort, or a cry of peace, that carries on their fervour till the next event.

No 2014 JW Yearbook (Yet as of 1-6-14)
by pixel infor me is very strange that the yearbook for 2014 is not out yet on the internet and/or gongregations.
is strange to me because it is a book that comes annually, and no word yet from the borg of it.
you don't expect something like that from the wt/fds/gb to be dlayed that much.. it makes me wonder, what's going on???

It is expected by end of Jan/beginning of Feb. I don't think it relates to the memorial numbers, as either way it still is coming out. My personal opinion is that they got behind trying to get the NWT finished.

After 44 years I finally found and spoke to my old prison buddy!

tollie was the rarest of rare birds.

It is good you were able to finally speak to him, even if sad that is as far as it will go.
It amazes me that intellectual people can be JWs. If he resesrches almost any topic there is so much justification required to make it fit the Watchtower belief system.

AUTISM and JW children

i remember being taken to the book room for numerous spankings.

If you have a child with autism you would be in the outer circle at the congregation. One of the ones that is only put up with, just because you keep the numbers up.

Have you noticed the JW child who........?
by Phizzy inhave you seen the jw child who grows up to be the ideal product of the cult from its point of view, and presumably from its indoctrinated parent's point of view?.
that young person is a weirdo !!!.
i can think of a number like this, still a minority fortunately, in that most of the ones i watched grow up either left or did not embrace the thing anywhere near 100%.. but those one-hundred-percenter kids are something to behold !.

Yes, most of the young ones I see giving out magazines at the train station are such nerds that I feel too sorry to speak to them about it not being the truth, as they would struggle living a normal life.

What a load of meaningless waffle that goes around in circles. They basically say that it doesn't matter if the doctrine makes no sense, as a JW can take a stricter stance if they require.
There is quite a significant lie, when they say that blood naturally settles into its 4 fractions. Blood settles that way only after being treated in a centrifuge. There is no basis to say the 4 components extracted from the centrifuge are acceptable, or that any other components are not.
