Interesting Tim. I don't know if the rules are different in Australia, or if the Parramatta spokesperson was incorrect.

Aren't Watchtower literature trolleys and stands illegal?
by jwfacts inin many places it is illegal to set up a stand and sell things in public without council approval.
so why is it that jws can set up their trolleys in busy public areas without being asked to move on?
i saw this article this morning about muslims being asked to stop handing out leaflets in parramatta, because it is illegal.

Cofty, great clip.
AnnOMaly, interesting but to be expected that this falls upon the publisher rather than the congregation or Watchtower organisation. In areas where there is a cost, I wonder how long the trolleys will be around. The one near my work was regularly in the mall, but has not been there for some time now. The novelty will wear off for publishers that have to buy a license to sit in places where no one ever comes over to talk.

Watchtower lawyers are usually on top of this type of thing, so would not surprise me if they have made sure they are in their legal rights. I do think councils should be encouraged to not give permission to religious groups pushing their agendas in such public ways. It is an eyesore and can be hazard in crowded places. Most people selling things usually need to set up a stall proper market places, not on crowded streets, malls and outside train stations

BTTT. I'm surprised there are no comments. If a concerted effort was made to call and make sure no laws JWs were not illegally setting up it could help reduce their current visibility.

Do you pay for air for your tires at your gas station?

of the service, it should be free.

Amazing, I have never heard before that people pay for air. In Australia it free everywhere. I sometimes get air and water for free without even buying petrol.

The height of delusion on display at last Tuesdays meeting...
by BU2B ini literally just sat there with my mouth open.
sometimes the delusional mind of jws takes steroids.. it was during the draw close to jehovah study where they praise the mosaic law and how perfectly wonderful it was.
you should have seen the almost giddy attitude the conductor had and the comments from the audience.

It goes to show how many JWs have read and meditated on their Bible. I think many don't realise how barbaric the OT is.
Despite reading the Bible cover to cover and reading these accounts, I never comprehended that Israelites raped and pillaged along the way, as instructed by Jehovah.

I saw this article this morning about Muslims being asked to stop handing out leaflets in Parramatta, because it is illegal.
However, the Parramatta Dawah group had recently been told to stop handing out pamphlets and proselytising in malls and parks.
It is understood complaints had been made to the local council and police have asked the group to move on.
A Parramatta City Council spokesman said they regularly receive reports of people handing out pamphlets in public areas, which is a breach of the Local Government Act, and rangers issue fines. He stressed that it was not specific to any religious group.
Yet JWs have been handing out leaflets outside the trainstation there for years, and now have trolleys set up as well.
If people started making complaints to the council (or relevant government body in your country), do you think that JWs could be forced to give up their new preaching method, or at least reduce the number of places they are seen?

December 1,2014 watchtower saying buying house is bad

in their younger years, they admired those who could afford to own a house.

It is an incredibly naive concept for the article to say renting is less of a burden. In places like Australia, where property prices double every ten years, a home loan costs more than tent for just the first few years, but after that increasing rents mean that paying for a loan is less than the cost of rent. JWs that criticized me for buying a house are now paying far more on rent than I do on the home loan.

"Jehovah's Witnesses do better after surgery without transfusion" - Article (July 3, 2012)
by Da.Furious inthis article from 2012 published by the birmingham news showed up on my facebook page.. what i would have liked to see in the statistics is the inclusion of total jws refusing blood transfusion and their survival rate not only the ones taht surviced, taking about only survivors is not like for like comparison in my opinion with patients who take blood transfusion and then dont survive.. .

This is a specific study that will be misapplied by the Watchtower to unrelated scenarios and operations. I find it somewhat irresponsible, as it will be used to help justify avoiding blood in areas that do not have these same survival rates.
The comparision is somewhat irrelevant, as too different types of groups are being compared. To make an accurate assessment, the article should have shown survival rates of non-jws that did not have blood transfusions, and also survival of the entire group.
The other factor not mentioned is that the preparation done on JWs and operations are far more costly and intensive in order to reduce the need for blood. If such level of care was taken for all patients, then survival rates are likely to have been higher across the board.
