WHY THE MEMORIAL?

according to christs words at the last supper, his followers were to "keep doing this in remembrance of me" but st paul says that by taking the emblems we are declaring the death of our lord "until he arrives".. the greatest man book (i've been looking at it) says the "arrival of the son of man, jesus christ, with the angels must be invisible to human eyes.

the arrival occurs in the year 1914.

if the gb really believe this why are they still doing the memorial road show?.

They are great points. I am continually stunned at how many scriptures i missed in all my years of 'in depth' bible (WTS) study.

I only recently realised that the WTS teaches that the great crowd do not inherit the earth, Jesus words about the earth at Mat 5 is said to apply to Jesus and the 144,000.

I would like to get together a list of Watchtower quotes that show that most of the New Testament does not apply to the Great Crowd. I also am after scriptures that show that the New Testament shows people must be born again, will go to heaven etc. If anyone can point me somewhere relevant i would appreciate it.

Whats happens to all the $$$$ when the WTS closes down

i used to think that if the end didnt come within the generation that the wts would have to shut down.

as it is a multibillion dollar non profit organisation i imagined that the publishers would then each get an equal distribution of the wealth, a great incentive to stay.

but then the definition of a generation changed and makes the wts viable for a bit longer than i cared to hang around for.. how long do you think the wts can continue before people en masse realise it is a pointless cult and it drifts into oblivion.

I think that what has recently happened to the Church of God is similar to what happened in Rutherfords day. Rutherford did a large overthrow of everything that Russell preached. The Rutherfordites survived to become Jehovah's Witnesses.

It is quite possible that this can happened again to the WTS, but not as likely, now that leadership has been taken from one figurehead and given to a group of men of a F&D slave. By balancing each other out monumental large change may be more difficult. I hope for a gradual loosening of the rules of the cult.

Is the bible inspired?

i am trying to determine if it can be proved that the bible is inspired, and was wondering if most people here believe it is or is not.. i am writing a document on proof of inspiration, but it has ended up more of an article that shows the bible can not be proven to be inspired.

i will be interested in what people think about it when it is finished.

however i am worried that posting such an article may alienate those on jwd that believe the bible to be gods word.

Your concepts are interesting. "living for the moment makes it's teachings redundant."

That is why some concepts of Eastern Religion make more sense to me. It is the stated that the key to happiness is appreciating the present. Too many people recall the good old days, or long for a future paradise, thus missing out on being happy now. JW's have mastered this by stating that these are the worst of times, the last days, and long for the new system. This is an unnecessary hinderance to happiness. People should be encouraged to enjoy the life that they are living, each day at a time.

By inspired i mean did God cause each word to be penned, that is, the fundamentalist view.

I agree that the bible can inspire people, just as can the Koran or the words of Buddha. But I do have an issue with people stating everyone that does not accept Jesus as their saviour is worthy of either eternal torture in hell, or eternal destruction at Armageddon. If that is the case, the bible should be able to be proven quite simply to be perfect and from God himself.

That is a wonderful letter, and means more than any discussion on doctrine could. It will mean a lot to your family, and if they do not understand what you have done for now, I am sure it will have a positive affect over the years.

Another "New Light" or changing their damned story again about reserection

can anyone confirm if their doctrin of the reserection has been changed?

a witness idiot i know has been trying to preach to me online trying to convert me.

he has stability issues himself with flip flopping back and forth between the "world" and the "truth".

I am not sure if it is written, but it was always discussed amongst my friends that if a Witness was disfellowshipped or committed suicide they would not get a resurrection. My brother-in-laws grandfather was of the anointed and died in a disfellowshipped state so the family all think he will not get a resurrection (the anointed dont have an earthly hope and he cant go to heaven).

There have been shifts on what happens in a judgement period. But i do think at times it was stated that there is no resurection for those that die in a judgement period, just as the Jews of Jesus time do not get a ressurection.

It is stated that everyone the dies at Armageddon does not get a ressurection. Remember, the only ones to be saved are those the call on Gods name, everyone that follows Babylon the Great will be destroyed. Jesus is separating the sheep from the goats at this time (although the meaning of this also has changed back and forth) If i get a chance i will try to find some supporting quotes.
