I wish i had noticed that before. I have had a huge disagreement with the person that dobbed me in over my site and then the elders at my judicial committee, saying how dare they call me an apostate as i am not the AntiChrist as referred to in 2 John. However to read that scripture would have been far more effective (even though it would make no difference to the closed mind of a JDub)

Go Leolaia, I haven't seen one of these great answers from you for a while.
I am reading "The hero with a thousand faces" by Joseph Campbell and bought an encyclopedia on all the Gods of mythology from all the major religions. It is riveting reading. Do you have any sources of your research that you recommend me looking at?

Check this out! my first act of "rebellion"...
by freedomlover inwell, not really rebellion but that i've wanted one of these for a long time so i went and did it today, and i love it!

Go freedom.
I have one too, I know, a bit weird for a guy, but it was on of my first acts of rebellion while i was still a JW. The day I had it done I showed a sister who was over for bbq and she was so disturbed by my rebellion she left. The cong got used to it over time, as they saw it every time i went to the beach.

DAMNED CONSCIENCE:JW Hypocrites Who Take Blood Products
by steve2 inthe blood letters by r jensen made riveting reading.
thank you to the posters who advised about the availability of these letters: a lone elders attempts to elicit some sense from the rigidly nonsensical watchtower's pick-and-choose blood transfusion doctrine.
the guy was probably doomed from the start, but i so admire his persistence and courage!

Steve2,
That is the critical question about blood. If they can take a fraction, who donated it for them, since it wasn't a JW? Is that fair?
I have asked that a few times. It is usually met with silence. One person said that "Jehovah will sort it out in his due time". For goodness sake, what a mindless cop out. An elder said it is a conscience matter to take blood fractions. When I said that is avoiding the actual question he refused to discuss it any further. The question will get through to those searching, but most JW's will spit and splutter and then lock it away like the good little robots they are.

Good scripture Honesty
You had me a bit confused there Gumby. I thought you may have switched sides, but now I see what you are getting at. They misuse Mat 24 to imply it refers to them.

Two important doctrine that the WTS replaces with Jesus with itself are;
Trying to indicate Peter said to Jesus "where would we go?" rather than "whom would we go to" as stated in the scripture.
w75 9/1 p. 531 “ Where could we turn if we would leave God’s organization today? There is nowhere else! (John 6:66-69)”
The second and even worse is that they say Jesus is not the mediator of any but the 144000, so everyone needs to be
Worldwide Security Under the "Prince of Peace" (1986) pp.10-11 ch.1
He is the Mediator between his heavenly Father, Jehovah God, and the nation of spiritual .
Watchtower 1979 November 15 p.24
To keep in relationship with “our Savior, God,” the “great crowd” needs to remain united with the remnant of spiritual Israelites.”
Any other examples that you can think of?

Calling investment whiz's
by serendipity ini'm looking at rebalancing my portfolio and am reading conflicting advice: .
1. move out of small caps to large caps, .
2. large caps will have a dull year, .

Sorry that I can not comment on the US market.
Investing is a gamble, no one can predict the future and hence the conflicting advise. Even a fund manager that does well one year will not necessarily do well the next. You need to find a fund with low fees and a good long term history. The other thing to consider is your age and how much risk you can cope with, that will determine your strategy, so it is hard to give advise without knowing that.
If you are doing it yourself diversification is important to minimise the risk.

Sherri, that is a sad story, and shows the true spirit of the organisation.
There is no statement in the bible that a d/f person must attend meetings for months before they can be reinstated, but the WTS is not governed by the bible or its principles, but rather by Watchtower creed. I know you will find what need and it will not need to have anything to do with the organisation.

The Watchtower Study: The one way to make your views publicly known
by sir82 inas most of us here are aware, the watchtower "study" weekly meeting is no "study" at all.
paragraphs are read, pre-arranged questions are asked, and the "correct" answer is a slight re-wording of the sentences in the paragraph.. however, sometimes (many times?
depending on the congregation), members could use the study as a way to publicly air their opinions on a variety of topics, without fear of interruption (so long as the answer was couched in enough "theocratese").

The PO asked the audience what they noticed about one of the pictures. No one gave the answer he wanted. So after a few comments he said (from the platform);
"You will notice no one has a shaved head" looking directly at a brother that had just had his head shaved. The brother being publically counselled was so angry and confronted the elder over it at the end of the study.
