Good point KateWild, it is hypocritical. I have caught many JWs on the pokies.

Petty Gambling
by konceptual99 inaccording to the shepherd book.... .
the elders do well not to involve themselves in what individuals do with regard to petty gambling solely for entertainment.
they may need to give counsel if this becomes a cause of stumbling for others or affects the spirituality of the individual or the congregation.-w02 11/1 p. 31.. .

Newcomers to TTATT: Beware of "New Study Mode"!
by Londo111 inweve all heard it.
a person starts studying with jehovahs witnesses and love what they are learning so much that they cant stop talking about it.
bubbling with enthusiasm, they spill everything they are learning with their friends and family...or anybody who will listen.

Excellent advice. Exactly what I did, run out and tell my loved ones each piece of information I was learning as I learnt it, and lose them all in the process. It wasn't until I had learnt enough, and was disfellowshipped, that I found out that is the exact opposite of how to leave.

Who knows?
And since the afterlife is based on faith, and hence be definition is unproveable, people should spend more time concentrating on enjoying the wonders of this life, rather than putting everything on hold for the next.

Interesting, since even accepting a free lottery ticket is wrong.
Awake! 1994 August 8 p.15 Is Gambling for Christians?
What if a person is offered a free lottery ticket or free money to use for gambling? In either case, accepting such an offer would still be supporting a gambling operation—an operation out of harmony with godly principles.
Watchtower 1995 May 15 p.23
“In 1976 it was clarified that no Witness could be employed in a gambling establishment and remain in the congregation.”
I guess it is referring to play cards, such as 500 or poker, and betting wtih 5 cent pieces to keep it interesting.

Advice, TTATT or Bible
by Crazyguy ini really starting to see the problems with the bible and it being influenced by other cultures, religions and also the fact that many of the books or letter were written after the fact or so called prophecy.
so i am wondering would it work better to try to wake my children to ttatt about the jw cult or work on destroying the bible and its credibility?
which do you think would work better??

You need to work out first what is most important to them. How much faith do they have in the Watchtower, and how much in the Bible. What makes them think the Bible is inspired, and what makes them think the Governing Body are directed by God? What are some of their doubts? Then you will know what topics to research and discuss.
For instance, if they have questions about the flood, or evolution, you can then discuss how Genesis cannot be taken literally. If they have questions about the history of the Watchtower religion, or talk about there always being JW's, you can go down that path. Maybe they wonder why 100 years have passed since 1914 and nothing has happened, then it could be a doctrinal discussion about 607.
I personally started to doubt the topic of universal sovereignty, and also whether God answered prayers. Yet did not question the Governing Body. It took a range of information to finally get through.

The email shows he believes himself to be highly educated, yet with each point he is incorrect. I would feel sorry for the man if it was not for how arrogant he is.

Scriptural Grounds for Divorce - Unbelievable story
by Comatose ini personally know the individual involved closely, this is not a rumor.
this is what happens when you let three unqualified guys decide whether or not you get to ever date again with jehovah's blessing.. a young man finds out his wife is cheating on him by seeing texts on her phone.
he knows the person she is cheating with.
