Evolution is a fact that can be accepted by both theists and atheists. Many theists find evolution confronting because it does not align with their interpretation of ancient religious texts.

Evolution and Atheism - please help
by Fernando innot being familiar with either, my question is:.
what is the relationship between evolution and atheism?.
i'd love to hear from anyone and everyone, and also from any perspective.. without limiting the conversation in any way, i would of course also appreciate comments that are simple, clear, direct and correct (as i don't have the capacity to do a phd in evolution or atheism)..

I lied to the elders
by atacrossroads ini stopped attending meetings all together in january 2015. before that my attendance was irregular at best.
my husband followed suit a few months ago after months of research, agony, and indecision on his part.
from the very beginning i laid low and did not share with anyone what i found out about the witnesses because i did not want to be df'd.

I don't want to drag things out or play some kind of catch me if you can game
This is a common feeling but paradoxical. If you are prepared to jump in and get DF or DA, then why worry if they play a catch me if you can game. Just ignore them completely and whether they "catch you" or not will become meaningless to you.

Your husband has given good advice. Your family is lost to you because it is a cult, not because of what you could have done or should have said. It had to happen sooner or later as it has to most of us here. Sadly all you can do is accept that you need to mourn them and move on. -

Makemeanunbeliever- God will be the judge if they are right or wrong, not an internet bulletin board,
This is the sort of defeatist attitude that keeps people within the cultural religion of their birth. "God will be the judge if Scientologists are right or wrong, if SDA's are right or wrong, if .....[insert current religion here]... ."
Humans can be the judge of whether or not JWs are right or wrong, because there is endless evidence on which to base an intelligent decision, including over 100 years of lies, misquotes, constant doctrinal changes, simplistic doctrine based on eisegesis, and failed exclamations of the world's end.

It is about time for the next recession, which sends them scurrying back. It will be interesting to watch how the next recession affects Watchtower. With their current financial concerns, any increase of people that are financially struggling will possibly not be desired. -

Do not Disassociate, Anull your baptism
by jwfacts ini am now a jedi, so trust me on this.. .
why dis-associate, you are just playing by the wts rules?
how can you dis-associate anyway, you never thought you were baptised as a watchtower society member, you thought your dedication was to god, so why formally disassociate from something you did not formally join?

Dubstepped - It is not a personal attack when saying not to DA. It is a warning to consider the consequences. Many want to DA on the spot, in that period of initial rage on finding out their entire life has been based on a lie. It takes time to settle and work out what is the best course of action, and whether to DA or fade is better suited to individual circumstances.
It is painted as some weak way out, doing the elders a favor, etc.
I don't know if you read the article Disassociate or Fade?, but there I recommend that if a person is likely to be disfellowshipped, they could DA to prevent the elders the pleasure of disfellowshipping them. I rarely see it painted as weak, rather the opposite, as a strong and more difficult option.
I personally was disfellowshipped, and that was the best thing to happen, as it was what finally what let me move on from the cult. So I recognise that disassociation can have the same affect and be the best option in order to achieve closure and move forward.

Just handed in my Disassociation letter
by Thirteenth tribe intonight my dl was posted by hand by my husband (a worldly guy).
i had the luxury of being at work distracted whilst he posted it.
i have been baptised for just over 2 years and studied since 2010. i couldn't take it anymore, not just the zealous dislike/disgust for 'people in the world' (this includes my husband and 99% of my family btw) but the obvious.... the investigations into child sexual abuse.

Great thread. I have not been to a hall in 10 years and it seems like it has become far more crazy.
To put it mildly I have been depressed and anxious, I knew I had to cut all ties.
You have made a great decision and you should find a lot of the anxiety goes away.

dubstepped - DAing is a tough enough decision without having your fellow ex-dubs looking down on you for doing it. ... Reading the article on the site refers to how awful it is to DA, how much regret can be felt. What about the freedom?
Why do you feel looked down on? No one judges you whether you da or fade. The article lists the pros and cons of both, including a heading and section that covers reasons to disassociate. Both articles discuss that people that fade or annul their baptisms will still get labelled as bad association and mostly shunned.
