It seems to indicate that those that rule will be ones actually killed for their beliefs
I agree.
i have been reading the bible with a new perspective for some time, i guess i identify with drew s from a lot of his comments sound like what i think.
i have been thinking about what i read without the wt influence and i would like to get ya'll's input on this scripture.. .
revelation 20 1-6. to me it seems to indicate that satan will be bound "first" then the ressurection of those to rule with christ for a thousand years.. also.

unique!.
be the first in your neighborhood to own your very own prisoner 8633 t-shirt!
who is prisoner 8633?
Print them up, I`ll order one (oh, and put the millions now living are now dead on the backside)
Oh, and Rutherford looks like a gangster!
where can you find the passage in the bible that talks about spirtism and when some guy( know) went to visit a spirt medium.
i'm so drawing a blank and i'm at work.
and someone's father claims there is no mention of ghost in the bible.
PeacefulPete: Wouldn`t you say that this story in Samuel is proof of the belief in an afterlife also in the OT? Samuel comes out of the ground (Hades, I guess)...it`s not just a "spirit" (demon, which is what the jws would have to explain it away as), it`s the spirit of Samuel, a servant of God.
my mum used to be a jw, she was baptised after about 3 years and carried on for about another 2. she first started taking me to the meetings when i was about 8, and carried on week after week until she was disfellowshipped (she went a bit mad and left home, but that's by the by).
the point is im 21 now and trying to make sense of the stuff i was brought up with for 5 years.
if anyone could shed light on one or two things i'd be most grateful (and some of it i might have wrong anyway).. - before noah's flood, all animals were vegetarian.
anyone granted everlasting life would go crazy.
LoL, that thought struck me too, at an early age. I was thinking, what can you do to pass time in the New System...for all eternity! Well, you can go thru all of the hobbies known to man. Master every sport (if you have thousands of years and a perfect body,it won`t be a problem).Climb every mountain on earth. Swim in every ocean. See every inch of every country, see all the animals on earth in their natural habitat. Eat all the different foods/dishes from every culture. Then learn to play 50 instruments. And read all the books that survived Armageddon (if they were "theocratic" enough, that is...) Ok, then what...What to do after that? Do it all over again? And again? And again? And again and again and again and again and again and again and... This line of thought didn`t work on my mom. She just said, "oh, there will always be something new to do".She was wrong. The earth is a limited geographical area, and time is infinite. Some people have absolutely no grasp on the concept of eternity!
we both fell in love.
hard.
we are not two little kids, although it has felt like it at times.
Welcome, Hampstead. In the matter of baptising, you are about to make a decision that will have a life-long impact for yourself, and it may be crucial and deciding for future generations (if you have children). Please, please, please research this religion thoroughly before you go and get baptised. Remember, the real truth can come from unexpected places. And if someone tells you that there are certain things you shouldn`t be checking out/studying/reading, that is a sign that someone wants to hide something from you. Never fall for that. Welcome.
deputy dog pointed out this scripture in another thread: isa 45:7 i form the light, and create darkness: i make peace, and create evil: i the lord do all these things.. is god saying here that he creates evil?.

Those are the pre-Sata-passages of judaism. No monotheism, and no Satan the devil. Just the gods playing around, causing mayhem for humans, rewarding and punishing them arbitrarily and according to their own will, and in their sick, little game. Not unlike the gods of Greece, Rome, and other civilisations. But try telling that to a jw...
just to clear something up, jws aren't the only whackos who think armageddon's "just around the corner".
friends, 1948 was 58 years ago.
there is no place on this planet we can?t go.
What shocks me the most about these types, just like the jws, is their absolutely non-existing understanding of the world, politics, diplomacy, how politics and diplomacy works, and the "power-balance" in the world. In this case how they would believe that (and based on Biblical prophecy only...) a secular, non-religious nation like Russia would commit suicide in this manner:
What?s interesting, too, is that in the last days Russia and Iran will invade Israel (see Ezekiel 38 and 39). Did you know that just recently Russia and Iran had made their first alliance ever? And given the recent hatred of Iran against Israel, I wonder what they could be cooking up?
...Russia woud never participate in such a thing, as it would mean the total (nuclear) destruction of their great country. Everyone knows it, and understands it, except any (and all) Bible-nut, that just reads the passages and interprets it to mean whichever country is "the king of the north" at a certain time or whatever. Just like the Watchtower. Retards.
here is a riddle.
i am thinking of something that god did not create, but is mentioned in the book of genesis and also throughout the bible.. what could it be?.
--vm44.
But I think money has a somewhat special status. God did not create money, but it existed before the book of Genesis was written, so when did money come into existence?
Aha, because if money hadn`t existed, then noone could have bought themselves a Bible...
i had a look at the wikipedia entry for jehovahs witnesses yesterday and noticed that it wasn't as comprehensive as it once was.. most links to non-pro-jw sites have gone as is anything truly critical or exposing of their beliefs and practices.. last night i added a link to this site to the "other sources" section.
this morning it is gone.. i wonder whether this is some private zealot who has decided to do it or an organised campaign?.

I am at fu##ing war with a JW-troll on norwegian Wikipedia. So much that a moderator now has gotten involved and locked the article on JWs (unfortunately, while I was in the process of changing it back from his ridicolous propaganda, and I only managed to change half of it before it was locked). Well, we`ll see what happens...At least I have been able to post a ton of information on the discussion-part of the site, info the troll sure wouldn`t want jws to know about.

The same in Norway, but I am working on it.... I recently changed the article, and removed all the pro-jw-formulations (and there were a lot! - in the style we all know all to well from the Watchtower!!) I also write comments in the discussion-part of Wikipedia (concerning the article), explaining why I have done the alterations I have done, why the previous editer (clearly a jw) had formulated certain sentences the way he had, what he was trying to cover up, etc, and I signed it with my full name (!). Then I changed the article into a very neutral, but also very HONEST article about jws. Not anything to critical, but not glorifying either. Perfectly neutral, but for exapmle, I did mention the belief that only members of the jws will survive Armageddon, etc. I wonder how long it will take before that is removed...I`m gonna follow the article closely.
