Good for you!
I love science but it did take me a while to get my brain used to the way of thinking that's needed.
<<One thing I learned from my college experience is that you have to endure and not give up. I was a full time student as well as being a full time employee working at my job for 22 years>>
I worked while going to school as well and it made me a better student because I was forced to use what free time (HA! that never happened) to study and get assignments done.
Congrats on the decision to go further.

When at the convention ; Top reasons for going
by free2beme ini was thinking about this the other day, and wondering what others felt about the district convention.
namely, what was the main thing you wanted from it?
a few i remember were these.. 1. number one every single year was that i wanted new information on when armageddon was coming and how close we were to the end.

I never liked going to these. Long drives to get there and then sit still and quiet all day on uncomfortable seats? No thanks. I only went because I had too (still living at home)

Were you allowed to take sex education in school, when raised a JW?
by free2beme inwhen i was in my freshman year, they had us take a half semester of sex education and another one was drivers education.
the sex education class taught good stuff for a young teen to know, especially if they were in families who were kind of lax about teaching what needed to be know.
as an example, one girl in our class actually asked if you could get pregnant the first time and another asked if the pulling out method was as good as a condom.

I don't rememeber there being a permission slip for sex ed. We had it at various times thruout the school years of 6,7 & 8. Then I was pulled out of school so I'm not sure what they all got after that.
The school district in my area is quite progressive in their attempts at sex ed and have produced a thick booklet to give to the kids starting in grade 5 or 6 that is very thorough. Parents do have to sign a permission slip to allow their kids to bring it home but its available in the school libraries to read if the parents refuse to sign the slip.

I was never D'fd of shunned for my clothes but I did get spoken about the following from various people in the hall ( mainly elder's wives sent over by their husbands ); skirt too short, skirt too long, skirt too tight followed by your skirt is to big. Lack of pantyhose, opentoed sandles, taking shoes off at meeting, blouse too sheer, blouse too lowcut, earrings too long and dangly, too many holes in your ears etc. Basically just about anything was not good enough.

Wanted: new parents and siblings
by sass_my_frass ini'm a 32-year-old almost-newlywed female in the market for some new family to replace the, you know... .
i need parents who will make occasional expressions of pride in my achievements, show concern during the bad times, and keep me up to date on all the gossip from home.
in exchange i'll contact you at least once per week, do my best to help you with any problems you may have, make you feel needed, travel with you to places you want to see and financially and emotionally support you as you get older!

My little sister got a silver necklace with a heart charm for her grad from preschool and loved it. Does she like that sort of thing?
Kids Can Press (I think that's the name) has awesome kids books/activity kits. You can find them in any bookstore. Beading. knitting, friendship braclets, crafty stuff like that. My sister loved those too at that age,
Let us know what you decide!
