An acquaintance of mine is supposed to be in her next video (or at least the next one being shot, maybe not the next one released).
I think he might have been disappointed when he mentioned it and I really didn't know whom he was talking about, except having heard the name here and there.

for me, i suppose, it was badly cooked (i cooked it myself, say no more) crocodile....i'd like to try swan, and if i can find a loophole in the law, i will.

I've tried whale meat, in Norway. Of course it didn't seem so exotic to them, but it was the only time I'd ever seen it on the menu.

Hmm, your son wanted a younger brother, and you presented him with a ferret? OK.
Just be careful later on about asking for grandchildren.

JW kids who are currently in college LOVED the convention drama!
by urbanized inhere's a transcript of a post about the 2005 godly obedience convention (which i read about on this board and seemed to highlight a drama in which a biblical story was highly distorted in order to discourage higher education) from a jw youth group on www.myspace.com.

hey everyone!

I'm almost glad I didn't have a JW board to keep me 'encouraged' while I was in college. It might have slowed down the inevitable.
(A grape to all of you at JWD too.) -

Did you ever see an elder with a 2 door car?
by JH in.
i already bought 2 door cars, and the witnesses didn't like it... i felt looked down upon, as it was a sin to buy a 2 door car.. now imagine an elder buying a 2 door car....

I remember the 2-door vs. 4-door car issue too. But let's not forget that even a 4-door car wasn't supposed to be too NICE a 4-door car, or else it would reflect "materialism."
It should be a sensible, modest 4-door. Otherwise god kills you. Or something. -

I'm new and for me it's mostly a sometimes weird trip down memory lane (having faded long ago). But my heart really goes out to those for whom the whole JW web is all to real and current.

Monotheism - the beginnings of one world govt?
by Satanus inbut consider when there were many gods, male and female.
you could choose the one that suited your nature.
or, if one god wasn't doing it for you, or you thought that it was harassing you, you call in another god to help you.

Satanus:
If as you muse it "was a necesary step on the road to understanding that we are all interconected on this dirt ball" then you needn't wonder too much about assimilating places like China. It's more a case of needing to catch up. Buddism has taught that we are all interconnected - in a very real, immediate way - since well before Jesus made his appearance. -

Same here... when I was a kid we volunteered in the food service area (bagging sandwiches or something) at a few DCs and it was bliss compared to having to sit through the entire sessions. After the first time, I always wanted to do it again.
I can't imagine why they'd have stopped doing it. Even after 'rendering unto Caesar' I would have thought having a captive audience for the day would mean they could turn a profit and underwrite some costs.
The explanation about having to meet commercial food prep codes, etc, probably makes the most sense. -

Talking to God in a Lucid Dream
by mark12 inone time when i was a kid i had a lucid dream experience where i dreamed of talking to our lord, obviously i know that its all in my head but the experience was so powerful its stuck with me and i still think about it,
since ive tried to build a dream inducing machine but i wasn't able to so i just bought one: i got mine at www.thedreamq.com, i dont know of they're available elsewhere.
i have them all the time now and i just wanted to share this, you all should know that lucid dreaming is a religious experience thats not comparable, really,,,

There was an interesting and lengthy article about lucid dreaming in the NY Times Sunday magazine not long ago. As I recall, basically it is a dream state in which you are between sleep and consciousness, and able to direct the content or 'script' of your dream as you wish.
Not surprisingly, many devotees use it to orchestrate sexual fantasies, since the dreams are as vivid as 'reality' if not more so. I guess you could commune with the invisible sky-god too, if you wanted to.
As for the start of this thread, since it's his first post I'd guess he's just here to plug the website mentioned. But it's still an interesting topic. -
