Jerusalem Did you know that Emerson, Lake and Palmer covered this hymn in a album called, "Brain Salad Surgery"? Man that is an awesome hymn and I am a baritone/tenor singer. I am going to try and find the performance tape and sing it in church! God Bless, Rex

How do the Kigdom Melodies compare to Christendom's Songs?
by Honesty ini just have to comment about the canned wtbts music on cd the local congregations play on $150 cd players through $20 speakers set in the foamboard ceilings at their sales meetings worship services.
what a joke the music is that they use to sing praises.
the lyrics remind me of a high school pep rally with all the emphasis on 'we're joe hoba's witnesses and yada-yada-yah preaching from door to door and from house to house' or 'life everlasting in the pair-o-dice' crap that just tickles the dubbies ears so much they get all pretty and pink.

After 15 Years I Finally Did It
by Honesty ini publicly said the pledge of allegiance with my right hand over my heart.
the irony of it all is it happened during vacation bible school this week in my church's sanctuary.
it felt good.

How hard would it be to twist witnesses in knots as an xjw?
by AK - Jeff ini mean we know how shallow the basic witness thinking is - we were there once ourselves.
do you think you could twist them into a pretzel?
what lines of reasoning would you use?

>as far as cogent and compelling ID arguments, i don't care if you call it smug, i have not come across a single one that is cogent, compelling or capable. and the question is answered, already, very well by natural selection. if people who are offended by the theory would prefer to close their ears and wail NA NA NA!, then there is their lack of an answer. incidentally, this is exactly what a JW who came to my door would end up doing anyways. Better brush up on your physics, bro. First cause and entropy both shoot holes in the grand theory of accidental origins. The lack of a fossil record to back up Darwin and the fact that mutations ar enever beneficial, irreducible comnplexity, etc just negates any idea of naturalism explaining How We Got Here. Don't beleive for a minute that this is a 'blind faith'. Once you get some physics then I suggest you read Chuck Colson's investigation and pre-evangelism instruction in "How Now Shall We live" and his personal experience in "Born Again". Now for the reasons that Chrisitianity wins by default, C.S. Lewis' "Mere Chrisitanity" and "Miracles" is a good place to start. Keep your mind open and don't rule out supernatural evidence before you investigate it. Authors/books: Lee Strobel, "Case for Faith" and his other books explains his journey of investigation leading to his faith from the agnostic side. Rex

>In other words - how good of an anti-witness could you be if they came to your door and did not know you? Jeff I've had this happen and was prepared for it..... My wife and I had moved from our old congo area and were a couple years out and many hours of REAL scriptural study and instruction behind us. Two sis come to the door and I invited them in. One was Sis Leader and the other Sis Newbie. When they started the spiel I waited for a opening on a scripture taken out of context. I pulled out a nondescript New Testament and patiently showed the lousy and shallow interpretation, focusing on the Sis Newbie. The I shared the True Gospel, 1 Cor. 15. and asked them why did they (JW) always peach about a disputed idea that we are near (around the corner, soon, very soon, before this generation croaks) the actual return of Jesus since Christians are supposed to live that way every day and just lay the Gospel onto anyone they meet? That got Sis Leader real uncomfy and Sis Newbie looking off into space....that glazed look where the cult trained brain is doing the mental flip-flops necessary to fend off reality. They got up and ready to leave so I gave them a pre-printed copy of carefully worded questions from a ex-jw ministry and told them my name. Later on I caught the whole car group in a parking lot where they were meeting and passed out more info. It took about a week for my old congo's P.O. to contact me and he gave me a one-on-one meeting. I witnessed the gospel to him also when I turned in my D.A. letter. We got to go out the door with a bang, three of four area congos got the word that we left as APOSTSATES, though the bro reading off our D.A. announcement did not elaborate, just the standard anouncement. Word got around because I was once an 'up and coming' elder/speaker condidate and my youngest brother is a elder in our area. We are somewhat well known in the area JW scene. Now when I go out and get to meet JWs at THEIR DOORS in my ministry I am at a huge advantage. I can tell you that we don't have any boring, monotonous services at our church but you do get a lot of good church/bad church stuff going on. You just ahve to find the place where you can have worship that fits you. All they know is that I am a Baptist lay minister who handles evangelism for the northerm part of the state we live in. That's right, an ex-JW door knocker who is now out evangelizing with the HOLY SPIRIT and not in view of coffee breaks and panned WT presentations! I was in Nashville, Tennesee a couple weeks ago and we put 6300 Baptists into the neighborhoods in one day. I tell Christians all the time to be nice and polite, they are victims who need to hear the Word. I am also very upfront with anyone who asks me why I know so much about the cult. I will not lie to any JW, but they have to ask before I tell. God Bless, Rex

Uhhhh. I wonder where we would be if our country had not gotten into WW 2? Even better, how could the leaders of Britain and FRance have changed history (had they the backbone that Bush has) and stopped Hitler at the invasion of the Rhineland? How is the war 'illegal' when Saddam repeatedly igmored UN warnings, bribed officials of France and Russia, etc etc? What about Saddam paying money to Palestinians who blew themselves up? Ask the Kurds about the war and see if they think it is 'illegal'! BTW, what is so wrong with freeing the millions of poor souls in Irag from this murdering despot? Our country has freed so many millions and all we get from the holloywood idiots, peacenicks and enviroweenies is grief. NO WMDs you say? Look to the future and see if they are not found where they have been traced...Syria. Every country investigating Iraq was sure he had them, not just the US. Our integrity, our morals, our law and our freedom of religion and from religion is guaranteed by the Christian majority. We ARE THE MAINSTREAM and not by any stretch of the imagination, 'right wing'. This is a falacy hoisted upon us by the left wing media! Rex

Question for Christians
by Ticker inok i just have a few questions ive always wanted to ask.
this is open to non christians as well.
can christians actually somehow communicate with the lord like ive heard and read so many times.
-
Rex
>The Pope may claim infallibility, but he doesn't claim to comunicate with God. The Pope is claimed (by the church) to be the 'Vicar of Christ'. By the very nature of his office it requires constant communication with God for he speaks 'for' God in matters of faith and through the church councils. The church claims to be the direct line to the apostles and the only true source of teaching for our Lord. The rulings of council are claimed to be equal with Biblical sources and inspiration. Does any of this sound uncomfortable familiar? Rex

MY ADVENTURE AT THE ASSEMBLY......
by Mary into start my day with: as i was walking down the street towards hell the assembly, i went to cross halfway across the road when a cheese and cracker brother told me that i should "cross at the light so that others can see that jehovah's people are law abiding citizens.
stick my lapel badge up his ass sideways make a good impression so i waited until he was distracted by other jaywalkers and then dashed across the road complied with his suggestion.
once in the building i managed to find a seat next to a guy who looked remarkably like fat bastard was a bit on the plump side.

Hmmmmm, you seem to be trying very hard to convince yourself that the Bible cannot be the word of God. Deep down, you are probably struggling with the idea that you have missed something after leaving the WTS. Are you actually worried that there is a final accounting in your future? You know, something like 'every knee shall bow'? 'Apologetics' is the scriptural response to critics of the inspiration of scripture. Unlike JW apologetics, this is not done is a approach that involves multiple topics taken out of context. That's what JWs do when they encounter resistance at the door step! They jump from subject to subject without getting the context of any scripture, nor learning anything. Have a Nice Day! Rex

What did you do as a child (or adult) to survive boredom during meetings?
by Wasanelder Once inwhat did you do as a child (or adult) to survive boredom during meetings?.
as a child i remember sitting behind a sister with a pink angora sweater.
i would pull of a bit of the lint from it and tilt my head back and place it above my lips a bit.

As an adult, sound man was a good occupation, especially on Thursday nights. After we had our children we could always 'beg off' do to various things going on with them. My wife and I used to specialize in the 'halftime fade' and go out the door after the Ministry School. We got out many years ago, had our eyes opened to the Watchtower falsehoods right here on the 'net boards. Wife, two sons and I all left at once. A loving, obedient, praying church helped us out and the Lord opened our hearts to Himself....may the name of Jesus be praised! God Bless all of you... Rex

Hi Farkel, I don't know if you will remember me. I don't even remember my old username now, LOL. My name is Rex, my old e-mail addy was [email protected]. I went by Ron Barker at one time, Shining One was another but I can't remember my original name from that old site that shut down.....was served out of Austraila I believe. I used to get in arguments with all of you agnostic ex-jws many moons ago. I am a born-again Christian and have been since the end of my posting days. Is Jan still around about on the boards? I hope you are doing ok again. The last I heard you were having a rough time living in San Diego. I prayed for you many times. my Lord has been so good to me and my family. God Bless you even if you don't think He exists! Rex
