Name Certain Things JWs Can't Do
by minimus inhere's one thing to start off our list: jws can't stand for the country's national anthem (but they can rise for the flag salute).

If you are a sister, you cannot correct a brother, even when he is saying the stupidest dumb a$$ thing in front of the whole congregation!

poll/ survey on what you "were" (rank in your hall)
by burningbridges ini wasjust really curious to see what the average of everyone's "history" is here, and also how many "higer ups" we have that have abandoned the ways.
so what were you, an elder?
a pioneer?
-
karen96
I was an elder's wife; he was also a regular pioneer, and we were assigned to where the need was great, but his need to be used in the cong was greater than my need for a loving husband! Been out 12 years.

Noni:
First, I know hearing the news can be devastating, but know that this is totally controllable. My hubby was diagnosed April 2007. He met w/ the dietician, and he was was put on oral medication (metformin). He also started working out, slowly, to help his cholesterol. Following the dietician's suggestions was key. He lost over 50 pounds in about 9 months. He is off his oral meds, and his last visit this past April, his diabetes doctor said he only needed to test himself occasionally. My hubby doesn't miss eating the simple carbs at all, he has found a new liking to vegetables, esp. grilled. Once in a while he may have a small piece of cake at a birthday celebration, or he will eat corn on the cob here and there (alot of sugar in corn). But for the most part, he eats really well. He is not cured, you never are, he is managing it very well. My thoughts are with you as you learn to manage yours, as well.

1992-1996: Bridgeport East, CT congregation (w/ ex who pretty much abandoned me to serve where the need was greater)

This was just last weekend: We had a very busy weekend, and I had hoped to up early Sunday morning to get some work done around the house before we left for a surprise party at the beach. Needless to say, I was running around getting my two sons ready (ages 7 and 3 1/2), and bathing suits, towels, food for the party, etc. My husband decides he is going to ride his motorcycle instead of coming inthe car with us. As we were taking off, my older son asks "Can we do multiplication table?", something he likes to do when we drive in the car. I answered "No, I'm driving and watching out for your father behind me. I'm just too stressed right now." To which my 3 1/2 year old says "I'm not stressed - I'm just a kid". I bust out laughing and say "You're right!" It really helped to change my attitude!

I too was concerned about the attendant being posted in front of this man. He definitely was there to prevent other JW's from approaching him. While I'm sure the dubs felt protected by the attendant being there, it sent the message " We don't trust you to have enough conviction of your own faith. Therefore, we are going to watch over your faith for you". Amazing how your viewpoint of it changes when your mind is no longer under there control.
