kudos to potleg who came up with the idea!
can you just imagine if the wbts came out with its own line of clothing for the faithful dubs?
potleg, that is just a wicked idea, a line of jw clothing, oh god can't you just see it.
For all unmarried "sisters" the chastity belt would be the required undergarment. Keys would be issued to elders to be used post kingdom hall approved and performed wedding ceremonies.
Ohhhhh so as to not tempt any of the young brothers all women would have collars up to and under the chin, and of course the most unflattering of patterns so as to not draw attention.
Can't wait to see what else is in the line.
todays study article was called "parents, provide for the needs of your family" and had several points i thought that everyone here who hasn't seen it would find of interest (my comments on the statements pulled are highlighted:.
first thought is in paragraph six in reference to providing for the family "indeed, countless fathers shirk thier responsibility, leaving their family in the lurch.
christain husbands do not share that hard-hearted, casual view of providing for thier own.
Todays study article was called "Parents, provide for the needs of your family" and had several points I thought that everyone here who hasn't seen it would find of interest (my comments on the statements pulled are highlighted:
First thought is in paragraph six in reference to providing for the family "Indeed, countless fathers shirk thier responsibility, leaving their family in the lurch. Christain husbands do not share that hard-hearted, casual view of providing for thier own. Unlike many of thier coworkers, Christain providers see even the most menial of jobs as being dignified and important, a means of pleasing Jehovah God, since it enables them to provide for their loved ones."
Ok that just made me fume I know many "christain" providers that have no pride in thier jobs and do leave thier families in a lurch. But I like the assumption with "unlike may of thier coworkers", the assumption that no one has pride in a job well done except the witnesses. Grrrr.
Second thought is in paragraph twelve stating: "To "inculcate" means to teach and impress by means of repetition. Jehovah well knows that of all of us-children in particular need repetition in order to learn.....parents need to find ways to teach basic truths to thier children, patiently repeating Jehovah's principles until the children absorb and apply them"
Hmmm for some reason that seems like brain washing and removing freedom of choice by programming the "children" a certain way. Repeat, repeat, repeat wow they use that on the adults too through all the programs.
Third is in paragraphy 15, "Christain children need to learn to share their faith effectively with others."
So it's not good enough to have it engrained on brain but they must go and talk about it, whether they want to or not.
Fourth found in paragraph 18 "Few things are more exasperating for children than the impression that a parent does not love or value them."
Right from the WTS own magazine, so then I ask why do they shun especially since it can exasperate thier children.
And finally in the last paragraph: "You thereby give your children the best possible opportunity to "choose life" and therafter to "keep alive.""
Doesn't really seem like the choice is really there, and why do they put it in quotes, is it to be sarcastic because they know there really isn't a choice, and that if you go against the witness choice you lose your family and friends who are witnesses.
I'd love to see what everyone else thinks of this info.
Thank You

i was and i am ever thankful to this board and all the wonderful members on it that have contributed to my freedom.
thankyou all so much and i think i might be becoming a jwd addict.
i love this board it is so helpful.
This board is a tremendous and amazing tool and help.
I already was preparing to exit, but knowing I have a place to vent is really going to help even more than just the support of good friends and my fiance.
we've just returned from the wedding of our first born son, simon, to tania.
it was great, i shall post some pics in a few days.
however, following the wedding, i had a brief telephone conversation with my jw mum who asked me if anyone had noticed that she had not joined in any of the toasts to the bride and groom.
Whenever any witness mentions anything of pagan origin I always am reminded of the heart symbol. I don't think there is a jw that doesn't have a little heart drawn on something even if done by the kids. Hmmmm another dose of pagan origins anyone?
Btw thats wonderful about your son's wedding.
number 5.
'forget' to announce his visit - or totally downplay it.
( this really gets 'em mad but i know some.
Number 2. In field service, assign him to 'special return visits' on homes that Smell. There are 3 types: Housesthat smell like cats ( "Does your pet lynx use the litter box?"), houses that smell like urine ("does your child
use the litter box?") or houses that always smell like frying bacon ("You folks be careful in this neighborhood,
ya hear?")
So would it be possible to "forget" certain places have very opinionated or people on the borderline do not call variety to take him to?
i am ex pioneer, ex ministerial serpent not been near a kh in 6 years, smoke, drink had a live in gf until recently, but not dfd, so much for keeping the cong clean!
still, none of my "brothers" with a couple of exceptions, speaks to me now, their way of trying to win me back perhaps?
not that it'd work - i am happy now after 10 years of bs from people who ought to know better but don't
Welcome to the board and I'm not even slightly surprised by the behavior at your "hall" so full of love it oozes from them.
.
what do most ex jws become, christian, athiest/agnostic or some other religion?
and since we all need to be labelled, what do i call myself now?
Happy.
i was talking to a friend the other day, he told me that he wanted to get married but there was a problem with that.
he told me that he and his wife split over 20 years ago and he does not know where she is.
he said he has looked and cannot find her so he can file divorce papers.
The answer would be could he? Yes
Though as everyone else said contacting a lawyer will give him the most sound advice.
As g money said though sometimes publication can be done to locate, or must be and then it will default. In most states that's very true. Basically it's a stipulation that requires the one filing to put in a public notice attempting to locate the other person for a period of time. If no reply at the end of that time the divorce is granted.
In Minnesota, where I am all divorces are no fault and so truly no real reason is needed to file and get one granted even with the other persons objection.
In your friends case is it possible she's already filed for one? Especially if he hasn't seen the child in roughly the same amount of time as he hasnt seen her, because it's really unusual for someone with a child to not try to get child support in any manner.
There are a lot of sites that could be of use to him as well with the divorce process, a number of divorces web sites and support groups.
Hope that helps.
so this morning since my parents are both very devout witnesses i get a knock at my door, i'm supposed to go with.
i'm in my pajamas.
typical guilt trip and mention that ultimately it is my choice, more guilt tripping (last time i checked i was 26 closing in on 27 ironic isn't it how they still don't want to allow decision making).

For the last hour or so there has been a severe thunderstorm full of ground and window shaking lightening, and though its now moved on I can still hear it in the distance. So wouldn't you say thats God saying go door to door in that suckas! LOL! I just found the timing perfect.
Riot of the Guilted but still not giving in class
