Does anyones girlfriend/boyfriend get jealous or mad for being on here alot

mine always thinks i'm going to hook back up with a witness ex girlfriend or i guess dump her for god.

ive not been here long but shes not to happy with it.

shes not religious in anyway she just dont like me talking to people i guess.

My boy isn't jealous at all, actually he tried to join. The password he was given wasn't acknowledged at all and he wasn't able to login. The admins never fixed it so he just doesn't feel he can bother with it anymore. BUT his view of the board is supportive and amused, he feels he needs to learn as much as possible about me to understand where I am now, and recognizes this board is an excellent support for me to learn and grow from.

As stated many times, balance is needed. Web addiction is a real problem, which could also be the source of resentment. As with all things, even this board, shouldn't overtake the rest of your life and if limited amount of time is available to be spent with the sig other sometimes its just better to compromise with them for the peace.

disfellowshipped for gluttony?

hello jwd board community.

just wondering.. has anyone ever heard of a person being disfellowshipped for the terrible sin of gluttony?

isn't it ranked right up there with drunkeness, adultery, murder, etc.?.

Being skinny does not mean that a person is not a glutton. Their body may burn it off. But they are taking more than their fair share of food perhaps at meal time or when a guest a someone's house.

There is one sister at the hall who was known at every gathering for eating or taking home all the extra food. She was not thin per se but not very large either, she just had decent metabolism.

But nope since I still haven't made the final cut from the borg there is no one I know of who has been df'd or had a jc for it. Ironic isn't it.

The only time I go to buffets is when my rents want to go somewhere fairly cheaply.

Is it intuition, clairvoyence, or THE DEVIL?

my new mother-in-law is a truly lovely person.

i am a bit baffled though by her use of intuition to make all kinds of decisions.

But if I were her I would keep some observations to myself because some things are just downright creepy. She doesn't have to share them with everybody. However, if I had an overwhelming bad feeling about something I might share it under the right circumstances.

Actually often people who hold to her belief system or others aren't aware they are making you uncomfortable, I agree with the above statement she doesn't have to share with everyone. My own belief system is a total mix of things drawing from pagan and christian. But part of it is if she made you uncomfortable she may not have been aware it had that effect on you. But don't be afraid either to politely decline further discussion on the topic if it does make you feel ill at ease.

Relationship??

after meeting a wonderful fella who also is jw.

i've never felt this way about anyone before in my life.

the only thing is i don't know if its possible for us to have a stable relationship, as i am r.c, not actually i'm irish roman catholic which is a little bit "stricter".

And truthfully thats the constructive advice.

Anyone outside of having been in it would not fully understand, it really is a kiss of death to any relationship.

My Fiance jokes that if I ever tell him that I want to be a jw again that he should take that as a sign the relationship is over.

Sadly its very true.

(PS No intention of ever being a jw again anyhow, besides I've gained the world for leaving)

Your scariest or funniest 'out in service' stories!

That is scary and the other one is funny.

Funniest: Out in service with a new family in the hall and a pile of younger sisters, I recognized the house we pulled up to but no one else did. It belonged to an older sister who didn't leave her place much anymore. I went with the girl who had the door and the woman came running out of her house yelling and waving a spoon telling us to get off her property. The girl I was with about fainted. The older sister and I couldn't stop laughing.

Scariest: I was going with my dad to a study one very windy evening, and we knocked on the door. The study was in his house and about 6 feet away from us but didn't even seem to hear the door. There was no noise coming from his house so he didn't have the tv or radio on. He walked by the door but didn't even seem to see us. We found out later through an aquaintance of my dads that shortly before we were to his house whether a day or two before or that day that the man had beat his girlfriend almost to death, he was a martial arts expert, and had broken most of her bones. Last I heard he was still in prison.

jwd is great for giving us the opportunity to ask questions and get answers to things that you could never ask in a kingdom hall.

what are some questions that are simply taboo amongst the "friends"?

Minimus in my area it would be why did sister so and so not get reprimended for wearing that diaper on her head for a head covering?

I'd love to ask why its ok for them to miss meetings for vacations or other things yet they emphasize and keep track of who attended what meeting and answered etc etc.

halos in art

when i was a jw, i was taught that other religions actually believed halos were visible.

they said it was a false teaching because the romans wouldn't have needed judas to identify him--he would have been noticed by his halo.

i studied art history in college and learned that halos originated in art, not in church teachings.

Halos in art can be cool (see avatar). Yeah I have found many things that are promoted falsely by the jws about other religions etc. But if they didn't boards like this wouldn't be needed would they?
