Good Decisions.....
by riotgirlpeeps inso i was curious, besides leaving the organ, what other life altering decisions have you made that have greatly improved your life, that you wouldn't have made were you still under the "sheep" mentality?.
for me, divorcing my ex, taking a chance to get involved with anyone again, and working at fulfilling my lifelong goal of running my own business (non cleaning or menial labor related).
my self worth and confidence has absolutely increased for acting on these decisions..

Today's Watchtower (July 24th 2005)....
by riotgirlpeeps intodays study article was called "parents, provide for the needs of your family" and had several points i thought that everyone here who hasn't seen it would find of interest (my comments on the statements pulled are highlighted:.
first thought is in paragraph six in reference to providing for the family "indeed, countless fathers shirk thier responsibility, leaving their family in the lurch.
christain husbands do not share that hard-hearted, casual view of providing for thier own.

God says not to go in service....
by riotgirlpeeps inso this morning since my parents are both very devout witnesses i get a knock at my door, i'm supposed to go with.
i'm in my pajamas.
typical guilt trip and mention that ultimately it is my choice, more guilt tripping (last time i checked i was 26 closing in on 27 ironic isn't it how they still don't want to allow decision making).

Mental Health Help and Congregational Support....
by riotgirlpeeps inso part of my past and history is this, at the age of 5 my brother and i went to live with my moms best friend, and my sisters went to live elsewhere, my parents had both had mental breakdowns.. my dad was getting treatment for his depression and the elders came to visit him.
the actually told him that they were there to get him out, he refused because he knew he needed the help.. this is 20+ years ago now, and my family was one of the "bad" ones in the hall for that reason, among other things.
i know now the society has changed its stance in some watchtowers mentioning that sometimes outside help is needed though there is still a huge stigma when people learn you have sought help, at least around where i live.. the ironic thing is my parents went to therapy for years as well, and when one of my sisters went to therapy and became stronger, she left the jw's my parents still blame that pyschologist.

The Irony never ceases...Analysis of the "Daniel" Book
by riotgirlpeeps inthe latest book being studied in book study is the pay attention to daniel's prophecy book published by the org in 1999. the following is paragraph 31 on page 29. even this testimony is not enough for many bible critics.
after considering this subject thoroughly, one cannot help but wonder if any amount of evidence would be enough to convince them.
one professor at oxford university wrote: nothing is gained by a mere answer to objections, so long as the original prejudice, there cannot be a supernatural prophecy, remains.

Just curious...."service, and gas money"
by riotgirlpeeps inlocally on occasion it was the common practice when "in service" to leave gas money for the driver.
i know that the individuals if savvy can get a tax credit for mileage for service (and i was once told mileage to and from public talks could also be included).
what i am curious about is do people still give the driver money for thier trouble?

I'm going to JW Hell, I'm going to die.....
by riotgirlpeeps ini thought this would be kind of fun to do is list some of the offenses that i have committed according to witness beliefs.
i thought it might be mildly amusing considering the lack of emphasis that any of these things are wrong according to the majority of the population.
i'll limit myself to ten.
