by LeftBehind ini want you to know that you have destroyed a family because of your lies about jehovah and his organization.
a family member went apostate and has turned his back on jehovah.
he told us he is never coming back and i know he went and visited internet sites.

I think the potential problems are these:
Very True, catching something - and this is a BIG worry, cos once one of them has something they will all have it, unless they are all being scrupulously careful (and even then..)
someone not realising that they are only one of many partners - deceit is horrendounsly cruel
someone realising they are one of many, but really being emotionally attached so that the whole situation is making them miserable.
Ive been the deceiver and deceived in all 3 situations, and ive come to the conclusion that after having my fun its time to settle down and be loyal and faithful to one person.
Those who say it is OK so long as no one gets hurt who should care. The problem is, who determines that, who decides the other person should not fall in love and should not care that I am only there to relieve my sexual urge.
Not much has been said about unwanted pregnancy, doesn't the newly concevied child deserve to have two loving parents who want him to be born.
The idea of no one getting hurt is a fantasy, regardless of how you worship or not worship.

Will Jehovah prevent men from going to Mars?
by truthseeker in.
a few of the friends i have spoken to over the years seemed to think that jehovah would never allow man to leave the planet and visit another.. "we have to get this planet right first", they said.. i thought at the time, perhaps the furthest man would be allowed to go would be the moon.. recently, president bush announced a new space initiative for nasa - first the moon by 2017, then mars by 2020-2030.. what are your thoughts?.

Many JWs love Sci Fi, go to all the new Star Wars movies and some have even dressed up for such in costume. Jehovah is invisible so why would he care which planet man travels to.
JWs who believe that Jehovah would not permit it are no different the religious people who lived during the days of Christopher Columbus.
By the way, I personally think going to Mars will cost the US tax payer way more than the few benefits they may get from it. But hey, why should I care, going to Mars is much more important than funding Social Security or helping senior's with the cost of medicine or helping with such trivial things like making sure the poor have at least one meal a day.

Exactly right Josie,Eventually, while pioneering, he worked part time in a bank on Wall Street. "And who did you end up training there?" "Recent graduates from Ivy League schools" "Did you hear that brothers? A part time pioneer had to train the Ivy League graduates to do their jobs! They needed someone who could do the job well!!!" (Enormous whoops and laughter from audience)
When I was younger I worked in a bank as a teller and I had to train college grads who had been recruited by the bank, but these grads werent going to become tellers, they were learning the ropes before they went into upper management. So I really doubt that part time pioneer had those Ivy league grads as co-workers, mostlikely those grads became his bosses. JosieOC

Did you hear about the congregation where.........
by enlightenedcynic ini am new to the board and am looking forward to many insightful discussions here.. a good friend of mine attends a congregation where sisters are working behind both the literature and magazine counters.
the brothers who were handling those responsibilities were removed because in the elder body's opinion, none of them were "exemplerary".police officer explained that save for the elders and a few of the ministerial servants, none of the men in the congregation were meeting the national average in field service time, so for the foreseeable future, "exemplerary".
the irony here though is that the same men who are unfit to handle the literature and magazine counters are qualified to offer opening and closing prayer for meetings and do reading for the watchtower study.

Do you suspect it's a tactic to shame the men?
Yes of course this is the primary reason. Another thing they do to older brothers is remove them from something they have been doing and give it to a teenager and the excuse is because they want to give such responsibilities to ones who are reaching out. Shaming non performing brothers is a key to the whole arrangement. I would gladly trade places with the sisters than have to deal with this nonsense.Best way to deal with this is to take a "I don't care attitude" and pay them back by not contributing to the box and when they need help cleaning the toilets...oh well I have to get home.

I remember being a MS and attending the Sat. night meeting for ms and elders. This guy was not socialable or particularly nice. He got to the end of what he had to say to all of us and than said "all the ms can go" than went on like we were nothing but dirt. I was used to at least a little fellowship at such meetings and some encouragement for all the stuff we had to do, but this guy treated us like less than dirt. That one meeting pissed me off so much I still remember it years later.

Raising the Standards
by Justin ini remember back in the '70's, when the co visited, he stated from the platform that there were people working at bethel who had been there for many years and who had initially started, not because they were interested in the truth, but because they wanted some means of support.
(not, of course, that they would make good money, but at least have room and board.
) now the society had gotten wise to them and made all the bethelites take a written examination on the basic beliefs, and the ones who flunked were dismissed.

Can't imagine anyone who has been a JW for any lenght of time not to know the basics especially if they have been at Bethel for a while. I agree however, that once someone is there, they shouldn't dismiss them unless they break on their rules.

Wow, that was the hardest hour I have ever sat through. I have sent my children through college and don't apoligize to anyone. There were so many times I wanted to apply for a position or job and did not have the degree that so many employers put as a minimul expectation for anyone to apply. This is not to say that an applicant couldn't do the job with out such a degree, just that you would never get the interview unless you had it. Based on this knowledge I was determined to encourage my kids to attend college.
There are no gaurantees in life, so to expect you would get just the right job after college is silly; however, with the education you expand your options and eventually you could end up doing what you want and have that sheep skin can help you get there just a little quicker.
The funny thing is, all of us who did not attend, we are now about ready to retire, I hardly think 4 years out of my life would of been such a big deal...thanks GB for helping me, nice to see you want to mess up the next generation of JW workers.

Elders, perfect kind men who should be respected.
by free2beme ini know some former witnesses away from the board and when we have talked, we have commented on how we still see people put elders in this category, even after the exit.
once in a discussion with someone who used to be an elder, the person who used to be an elder did something kind of harsh in their comments.
the person in the group stated, "there is no way someone like you would have ever been an elder.

No different then talking to the manager at your local fast food restaurant,
Some of them probably have that very job...LOL
I think most try to be better men than the average and take it serious and really do try to help when called on. But like it was pointed out they really don't have angels helping them, so what you get is really just a man who could be a geat guy or a complete ass depending on the person. We all know some of both categories. And they only have the Soceity's training and very little else.

Disturbing Information Passed on in Annual Elders Meeting?
by Dune inas you all may know, the elders around america have had (or will have) their annual meetings.
you know, the ones where they are trained and brought up to date about the whole scheme of things.. anyway, an elder who i happen to be close to was telling me yesterday that some troubling/disturbing things has been going down in congregations worldwide.
he also mentioned that it will be mentioned in watchtowers and km's in the next few months.. anyone know what he may be talking about?

I think any number of petty offenses could set them off. Remember they are into total control.
Too many JWs taking cruises!Too many husbands and wives having great sex together!
