  Anyone think that the 'Secret Subcultures' will bust up the Borg?

  i mean there seem to be several fairly well rooted sub-groups operating within the ranks of the witnesses now.

  many under the continuing premise that it is the 'truth'.

  i know of a couple.

  In my own case I viewed the watchtower as a can of half rotted fish - I wasn't about to try to separate the rotten part from the good. I threw the whole damn thing out. But I'm sure these subcultures won't bust up the organization. There have been dissenters from the beginning.

  I think the threat of shunning is the only thing that's keeping the JWs together. Whether people believe the doctrine or not, many are unwilling to risk losing their families, so they remain silent. And the greatest threat to the society now is probably the internet, where people can quietly do their own research.

  1.that god has an "organization" on earth and uses a governing body to direct it?.

  2.that the "faithful and discreet slave"is a "class" composed of only certain christians and that it operates through a governing body?.

  12.That christians must fill out a service report on a monthly basis? did Jesus do this? did his apostles do this? Paul?

  I think this is a very valid question, as elders use the field service reports to measure the "spiritual health" of congregation members.

  What does a JW have to do, to be SURE he will be saved at Armageddon?

  don't leave out anything.. and maybe you can add things he musn't do either..

  1. Attend all meetings. Don't have to pay attention - just be there.
  2. Wear a suit and tie to Tim Hortons every Saturday at 11:00 AM.
  3. Comment at meetings. Just read from the paragraph changing only 1 or 2 words so it sounds like your own comment.
  4. Report your time™ every month. Accuracy is unimportant.
  5. Make it look like your wife knows her place.
  6. Own 2 different briefcases - 1 for meetings and 1 for service™.
  7. Shave every day.
  8. Kiss the elders asses. Learn to smile while you're doing it.
  9. Display Theocratic Library™ prominently in living room. Don't read the older stuff.
  10. Make donations monthly by cheque so the elders know how much you're giving.
  11. Display the day's text™ prominently on your kitchen table.
  12. Drive a 4 door sedan or a minivan.
  13. Own at least 4 different coloured suits and 16 ties.
  14. Lie about good field service™ experiences so others will be in awe of you.
  15. Join the Theocratic Ministry School™.
  16. Dark rimmed glasses are good. Metal rims are not. And lose the tinted lenses.
  17. If you don't wear glasses, get some anyway. They make you look studious.
  18. Beat your children in the Kingdom Hall bathroom. Make sure they cry.
  19. Say "Jehovah" instead of "Jehover" so you're not mistaken for an apostate.
  20. Wear shoes with tassels.
  21. Don't get an education. Remain ignorant.
  22. Talk down to publishers™ who don't have titles.
  23. Clean windows or toilets for a living.
  24. Get your Kindom Ministry™ laminated. It shows you value spiritual things™.
  25. Unibrows will not inheirit the kingdom. Make sure you pluck them.

  Can You Apologize When You Are Wrong?

  Disfellowshipping or Disassociation what is the "difference"?

  i know this may sound like a dumb question but fellow ex-jws out there what is the difference between being disfellowshipped or being disassociated?

  why do the watchtower have two classes of ex-jws?

  i have really never understood the difference.

  When I disassociated myself I was, in effect, disfellowshipping Jehovah's Witnesses. They are unworthy of associating with me, and I shun all of them except my mom, who is still misled.

  I can't help but marvel at their stupidity. I left because I objected to their protection of child molesters yet they view me as though I'm the one who's doing something wrong. Only in the Watchtower world could such insanity exist.

  I work in IT Sales, calling companies with a new(ish) technology that coulds save them a lot of money. Its a good job but no-one is answering the phone.... i just get voice mail after voice mail.....

  Are you the guy who keeps calling me??? Here's my whine: Ever since the Toronto Infosec conference I've had about a million people call me and try to sell me their product or service. If I gave every one 5 minutes of my time all products would be obsolete by the time I finished listening to every sales pitch. Next year I'm skipping the conference. W

  i should give some background before the question(s) for you all..... my older brother was born and raised a witness.

  left with the rest of us when my mom dad herself although he was the one asking whether or not it was wise---after all the end might come.

  he was brought up with the whole women being inferior thing....or in the least there being whores and mothers and nothing else.

  Give me something for real that doesn't have to do with mispelled words.

  Sounds like he has a double standard, but I don't think going off on him will do any good. He'll just continue to get defensive and do what he wants anyway. I can't imagine what attraction he could feel for a woman so much younger than him beyond the obvious sexual attraction. What could they possibly have in common outside of the bedroom?

  I've had some significantly younger women express some "interest" in me. hahaha! yeah right! I'm older, fat, and ugly, and obviously not the object of anyone's sexual fantasies. The only other possible attraction could be $$. I'm not completely stupid.(anymore)
